  1. Just had some more pics of the car sent over - looks like the floor is unscathed at all, and still very shiney - not a mark on it to tell you the truth. :-)
  2. Can you buy such a thing? I'd like something quite small for my summerhouse - but i'd like the ability to use outside speakers as well, as i already have the cabling in for them. all the docking station's i've seen have no additional output? Any ideas? Merci bucket.
  3. well he's offered me 11k for the cerb, and 11 cash, so 22 in total.. MOT 11 months, and 5 months tax. Just had read pads, and the garage who fitted them said they were either from a granada or sierra ~(Not sure if thats a good thing or not as it sounds a little cheap!) He's not sure if it has a dry sump or not, and doesn't know what suspension it has. If i decide i want it, i'l pick it up on sat, and take it to Le mans, as a hot standby if the Humber Hotrod doesn't make it.
  4. well, my freind had some trouble in it this morning... He sadi he was unable to get it in gear, he only managed to do so, by turning the engine off and then selecting first and starting the car... Not very good on the car. But he said trying to get it into 1st,2nd and 3rd was next to impossible and kept on crunching. To top this all off, the battery terminal came off and the car cut out on the A10 roundabout. (Made me laugh as i told him to check these!) So not too sure, what the issue is with the car at the moment, could be the clutch or could be the gearbox... :-(
  5. thanks for the comments guys. The car's only got a mirror on the drivers side - it did have a rear view mirror but that fell off - so not had a chance to put back on. it sounds a little naff at the moment becuase the exhaust baffles are still in place - when they come out, it'll sound like a spitfire once again ;-) I'm happy to report, that it made to Hertford, with no leaks or spills. It's going on a 100 mile trip tommorrow to see how it gets on.
  6. Right - i've been off for a while - so heres the latest update and pics: http://www.tripkings.co.uk/humber (Currently uploading so try back in a while) I've Spent all day having the front tyres changed, filling her up with fuel (for the first time), sanding, filling, and spraying the car.............. I've even managed a little video of my friend driving it off to Hertford - to give it a run as the longest we've been is only 5 miles or so. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/rod3.avi (11mb) It most certainly get's some looks! So we have a week till we are off to Le Mans in it (Camping in Expo) so hopefully if it passes the next week of road tests we shall be taking it! Whoohooo. Anyone got any tips for trying to paint flames? or does anyone fancy doing it?..hehe
  7. the car i can get for 22k. And he'll give me a fairly decent part-x value on the cerbera of 11k. so i just need to the pay the remainder 11k. I'm not that fussed about buying it, but i'd like to know that it's worth that, and i'd be able to sell it for pretty much the same money and not say 12k in 2 years time. I know it won't be an easy car to sell, but i can just imagine the fun i'll have in it. Apparently it's got 2 fuel tanks :-(
  8. thanks for the help, i'm basically looking at it, thinking it's not going to loose much money if any, as i only seem to go out once a week if that at the moment. With that as well, i can start doing track days which i've always fancied doing. I've heard the engines are very reliable, and generally they are fairly cheap to maintain - not too sure about that - but has to be cheaper than the tvr right? my only worries is being 6"3 my head will stick out the top of the car, and the thought of a wasp/stone going through the top part of my skull isn't very appealing at the best of times, let alone when doing 80 on the motorway. the only other issue, is i don't know what the car is actually worth as i've not seen another for sale - so is it cheap/expensive/about right? Oh the joys of being bored in the office and wanting a new car....
  9. Thanks Chris, I've spoken to the chap who said it was proffesionally built for the chap who makes rollercoasters for Alton towers etc (he owned it for 8 years - then the chap selling it bought it). It's only done 3k, and car built from brand new parts. He's had a full tonneau cover for it to keep it dry should it get parked up somewhere and it rains. It's got drain holes apparently and a full alarm system. He's had it rolling roaded at just over 400bhp. Service history - chap said it's not got much as it's only done 3k. Do you need a helmet to drive it? Does your head go above the windscreen when inside? This is the add: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/290190.htm Thanks
  10. I've got a cerbera, Had it since September. Only covered 16,500 miles from new, full tvr service history etc.. Servicing costs are expensive (My last service was £2100ish) but it depends where you get it done. I wanted to get mine done properly so it went to tvr stanstead. Never had anything wrong with it, except the window's dropping when you open the door. (beleived to be a faulty door control box). But a local garage would of done it for about £500 at a guess. The car (to tell you the truth) sounds crap inside, only when you open the window's and hear it from the outside will it make you smile. If your use to the way a supra handles then this is a change! no ABS, traction control, etc.. Your right foot controls how daring/stupid your feeling at the time. It's only caught me out once (after driving a vxr for 3 weeks) and i was just lucky to catch it in time before i spun off the roundabout. They are very tail happy - with brand new SO2's it will spin the rear's off the lights at 2k in revs and dropping the clutch - i found this out after driving the evo and moving to the cerbera. (I wouldn't advise doing this as it'll tear your clutch to bits and cost you a fortune) Fantastic cars for a weekend car, definately not a refined everyday car, but more of a hardcore sunday driver. But i'm selling mine now as i'm looking at an Ultima.... :-)
  11. Morning Chaps, Just a quick one, I'm looking at buying an Ultima Spyder as a weekend car, the one i'm looking at is on Pistonheads (Blue one) and it's in West Yorkshire. Does anyone have any experience of these? What to look for when buying? Is it a good price for it? I know it'll be a bugger to sell, but i'm hoping it won't loose much value? I'm 6"3 so will i fit in it? Can you drive them in the rain and not get too wet? I've got loads of questions, but no-one really knows anything about them... Any help greatly appreiciated - and if anyone's over in yorkshire and can take a look for me before i drive the 300 miles in the TVR to find it's rubbish, that would be great! Thanks Craig.
  12. You have the same problem i had... After i sold the supra, i brought the evo... and just couldn't get use to it as it had all the computer things and it was like driving a playstation . It has those things at the back called doors... Weird. Great car for country roads and roundabouts mind you....the handling is crazy... This was my one i sold http://www.tripkings.co.uk/evo/ Good luck with the sale.
  13. Want to part-x it against my Cerbera? ;-)
  14. yep, - i think so... I'll try and get some drive by shots over the weekend. she sounds great now she's running on all 8, and she purr's like a kitten.
  15. Right.. Well the car's now Taxed, Mot'd and Insured. Picked it up on friday night and took a very nervous drive to the nearist petrol station. filled up and then drove it 5-10 miles back home. Car's not fast, but it is very grunty and lots of tourque. Had a few car's hooting me as i drove it up the A12 briefly which made me chuckle, then had a thought that i may be on fire, so stopped and checked, but all was fine :-) Sitting at the lights on the way back and had a corsa with some chav's in it, revving up the car, so i reved mine a little and the car rocked right to left. the chavs stopped in shock and gave me a thumbs up :-) yay. So, after the drive i checked it all over and all seems fine, no noticeable leaks or fluid loss. Decided to take it for another drive on Monday night, and found that the coolant resevoir had a leak, the rocker cover gasket was leaking oil onto the manifold, and more importantly the brake peddle hit the floor and the car didn't stop when reversing out the garage. So i've ordered a new coolant tank and rocker cover gaskets and i popped up to halfords for some brake fluid. I beleive i must of had an air lock in the brakes and i released the pressure when i checked the brake fluid level. Still - not going to risk driving it yet until i've bled the brakes and checked all the connections (Thats my job tommorrow!) All in all i'm quite chuffed... it's finally on the road - all be it, it doesn't stop, leaks a little water and has more fumes coming frmo the engine than the exhaust. But am i happy? Hell yes.
  16. Well, i'm getting married at gosfield hall (Essex) in 2009, and trying to organise a load of bit and bobs. Just trying to find a good live band and wondered if anyone has any good recomendations for anyone? At the moment, i'm just listening to stuff on the web that people have made up . Oh well.. Thanks
  17. here's the ones i use at the mo: http://www.tripkings.co.uk/maldives/ Pics from my last holiday. The water huts is the best on the 24" widescreen ;-)
  18. yeah - no problem mate, i was burning around in it this weekend as it was good weather. ended up going to B&Q for some screws and went on a 100mile drive in the country ;-)
  19. I feel like crap today. Went out last night for Chinese new year (something a little different). Started at 7:30, finished at 1:30 this morning. Went to bed at 2, alarm went off at 5. There's something awfully not funny about drinking Remy martin, 2 bottles of red and 4 beers on a sunday night and then trying to cope with 3 hours sleep. Oh well.. Get to go home at 3.
  20. I love these cars, i test drove one at nissan but being 6"3 i found i needed the seat to go an extra inch further to be comfortable, so i decided against buying one. Do you know if the jap seats go back any further or are they the same as a uk spec? does the radio/tv work in these? The engine note of these car's is fantastic! and that one looks excellent.
  21. I've not seen that one in chelmsford :-(
  22. Well, the car's got the MOT, but still not been in second gear, so that will be great! Just got to work out what to do with the tax on it as it's tax exempt, and sort out insurance for a day so i can get it home.
  23. I'm in Chelmsford.. But i own a pink TVR now :-(
  24. Pics of it are here mate: http://www.tripkings.co.uk/humber -I'll get some more at the weekend when i drive it back :-)
