  1. Many thanks all, i'll take a look at these at the weekend! cheers.
  2. Hi All, I'd like to create a new website but i'm not too sure what software to use and was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as it's been a while since i played with websites (years and years ago, i used to use swish/Serif for ease). any pointers would also be helpfull - basically trying to create a site with a map plugin (google?) which shows directions/distances etc (based on an entered position/postcode) to places i've created on a map, as well as a blog/twitter page. - I tried using WIX but didn't have much luck and i'd like to have a bit more control. many thanks in advance cheers
  3. perfecto - top man. I'll run another cable :-) thanks for all your help - very usefull! cheers
  4. Thanks fantastic! -thanks for you help - that explains it! I don't have a cable from Hive Common (1) to Boiler (3) all the rest is already in place - is that required or can i link Hive L (Permanent Live) to Hive 1 (Common) ? many thanks for all your help. Craig.
  5. Thanks Chaps - as suggested i'll start from the boiler down and remove all the stuff i don't need. this is the Boiler manual: http://neighbourconstructions.co.uk/OLDWWW/PDF/Standart%20efficiency/turboMAX_pro_installation.pdf and this is the Hive: https://www.hivehome.com/attachment/37/download/Thermostat_Install_Guide.pdf So the only thing i'm left confused with is how does the Hive control the boiler and what terminals to use between Boiler and Hive. Good spot on the Netral from the diagram - my bad, i drew it up incorrectly. amended. many thanks
  6. Afternoon all... trying to do a Hive installation to replace my current programmer and thermostat and found myself in some difficulties (put it all back to as was now).... So i have a gas combi boiler (vaillant turbomax pro 24e) located in the loft space, a siemens RWB7 programmer located in an airing cuboard upstairs, and a Honeywell T40 thermostat in the dinning room downstairs. http://tripkings.co.uk/thermostat.JPG The Programmer and thermostat i want to remove completely and install the Hive in it's place - however on further investigation..the previous owner looks to have done some "home wiring" and has extended the live switch (yellow) from the Thermostat using the copper wire and then rejoined it at the programmer back to the live switch (yellow) wire to the Boiler. http://tripkings.co.uk/connection.JPG http://tripkings.co.uk/wiring3.JPG So i've drawn a map up of the current wiring as best can, showing the colours and junctoins of wires (apoligies in advance if this isn't great - i'm not an electrician and this was just for my understanding) http://tripkings.co.uk/wiring1.jpg Besides the wiring for the thermostat which i want to remove... i've managed to get all the wiring (I beleive) correct for the Hive using with the exception of the live switch to the boiler and possibly the wire between L and 2: http://tripkings.co.uk/wiring4.JPG The problem i'm having is where do i wire up the live switch 230v (yellow wire) from the boiler too or is it no longer required? (Guessing it needs to be there else the boiler won't know when to turn on). Thought i'd ask nicely on here first, before calling up an British Gas for a home visit. thanks in advance. Craig.
  7. Well, i'm once again car'less and now seeking something for say under 6.5k that will carry 4 people to Le Mans with a bit of comfort and power. so far i've seen a CL600 Bi-Turbo (But unfortunatly this wasn't in very good mechanical order), but i'm also considering a BMW M5 or a Jaguar S-Type R. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, or other suggestions? (Not an Evo/Subaru! ;-) ) thanks in advance.. Craig.
  8. Thanks - although i'm still undecided, i think i'm going to go with the Specialiazed.
  9. Good morning all, I've got a cycle to work scheme that i'm thinking of joining but i'm unsure on what bike to go for. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/reviews on the below? Giant Talon 29er 0 2012 Scott Scale 29 Team 2012 Felt Nine Comp 29 er 2012 Specialized Carve Comp 29 2012 Cannondale Trail SL 29 er 2 2012 Whistle Miwok 1160D 2012 Lapierre Pro Race 229 2012 I've decided on the 29" wheels as i think they should be good for some gentle off-road stuff along with some normal road action. At the moment i think i like the Specialized one - but not too sure on the others.. Although as i've not been on a bike for 2/3 years i don't actually have a clue what to look for anymore - and i don't know much about the components they all use. Any adive/reviews greatly appreiciated. Thanks Craig.
  10. Morning All, I'm thinking of buying myself a CL600 Bi-Turbo (2003)... But i don't fully know much about them.. Going to go and test drive one this weekend and see if i actually like it.. I know they have a very complicated and expensive suspension system that can prove to be expensive, but are there any other tell tails or horror stories that i should be aware of? Any other advice? Many thanks in advance.. Thanks Craig.
  11. Nice Spec, nice price..Shouldn't hang around for long.. Good luck.
  12. Just decided to sell my Discovery, due to lack of use and wanting something with a little more comfort to take to Le Mans this year.. http://pistonheads.com/sales/3639213.htm Thanks Craig.
  13. Advertising on behalf of a freind. 46,500 miles. Full BMW Service history. 3 Owners (Two of them are good freinds) 1 Year's MOT. Imaculate. Not the best pictures, but more available on request. Contact Rob on advert below. £6,550 http://pistonheads.com/sales/3313587.htm Thanks, Craig.
  14. One of my friends cars for sale if anyone's interested. http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3244579.htm The car is imaculate. Thanks Craig.
  15. Good price and looks clean. I've got one of these as well.. :-) - Amazing cars for "green lanes" and very easy to work on/cheap for parts. Good luck with the sale.
  16. TBF i sold my Supra (that i'd had for 7 years) for an Evo FQ-320. I loved it for about 5 minutes.. but i personnaly (don't want to get shot down here) found it was just dull as the car does everything for you. I'm not saying it was slow - far from it, and it handled ridiculously well but i just found i missed the rear wheel drive feel. The other note is the cost.. It's ridiculous - If i remember rightly i think i lost about 4k on the car and only had it 2.5 months. Tyres, Brake Pads, Service, tracker, another service.. Yaw fluid.... I'm sorry i'm not much help on the question that you asked - but i think you'd be better asking on the MLR forum - they were very helpfull when i was on there. Craig.
  17. We bought a new house about 1 1/2 ago which had previously had some underpinnnig on the single story garage extension about 10-15 years ago. Before we moved in we had extensive work done extending the house including removing the old garage and making it part of the house with a room above it (extendind loft etc). The new foundations were all piled and made deeper than normally suggested. The question is, do i need to tell the house insurance company's when i ring round to renew that it was under pinned previously even though the house has been partly re-built with new foundations? - I'm finding as soon as they say "has it been previously under pinned" and you say "yes" - they won't give you a quote, or even consider due to the rebuild. Thoughts on a postcard ;-) Thanks Craig.
  18. Hi chaps, Brother-in-law has got his own gas engineer business but wants to ideally have some kind of database or program that can store all his customers details, previous jobs etc, and put up reminders for when they are due a service etc.. Sounds pretty easy... Having a quick look around, but i've not found anything that looks "easy" to use.. any thoughts? thanks in advance. Craig.
  19. Well, having 3 cars i now need to get rid of one, so the passat's got to go.. It's got 11 months mot (no advisories), 5 months tax, 5-spd manual, Petrol, full leather, climate control, air-con, full service history (last two done by local mechanic), R-Reg 1998, 75k (low mileage for year), new tyres, new brakes (cost just over £350), new battery, new wipers :-) .. 2 previous owners. In the past 2 years it's also had new front suspension arms (common fault), new clutch, new exahaust back box and various other bits. Averages between 37-39.9mpg. Great run around or work horse. Bad bits: (as always..): Rear bumper has some scuffs, the AC compressor makes a noise from the outside on most occasions but the ac does work (it's always done it since i've owned it), and if your really picky there's a slight drone when turning left over 65mph which i'm convinced is the wheel bearing - however it's been to 3 garages and they've all told me it's fine and no fault. Looking for £800.. Some older pics here: http://www.tripkings.co.uk/passat Thanks, Craig.
  20. i can't even jog for 4 minutes... Think i'd die if i try this.. .
  21. Bit of a strange one i know, but i'm too ashamed to ask on the landy forums ;-) I can't for the life of me get the Fuel filter off... I've tried twisting it by hand but it just won't release.. Any suggestions? (I don't fancy jamming a screwdriver in it like the oil filter trick!) - I did try a removal tool - but to be fair its too big for anthing and just slips, and there's not enough room for leverage... Many thanks, Craig
  22. Just a quick one.. I've got 5 or so catalytic converters sitting in the garage from when i removed them from my cars (Supra, TVR, Evo and now Discovery.. ) Just wondering what i can actually do with them? - i know they are worth something due to the metals in them, as the local garage asked if they can "dispose" of them for me (they took the disco one off).. I told them i'll keep them for the time being.. .. Not sure what they are worth, or if i just take them down the local scrapyard.. ? Thanks
  23. Just seen the weather forecast for next week... Looks Wet, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday... Not looking forward to another trip in the rain - the last time it rained it was awfull and i spent most of it in the pub!... Actually.....Maybe that's a good thing? Hopefully just a few light showers and nothing more... Fingers crossed..
  24. I'm off as usual as well (been going since 03) .. We're going Wednesday morning 6:30 P&O and returning Sunday night.. Camping in Expo.. (opposite the Main entrance/ Next to pub, and has cover in the cow sheds for when it rains so you stay dry...Toilets, showers... bla bla.. £50) Not taking the Westfield though.. I've bought a 1996 land rover Discovery off0roader for the trip that we can load up with beer! and it's got a little bit more room in it than the Westie..
