i have to sell mine first...shouldn't take long as i'l sell it for peanuts but i'm trying to not break the 6k mark if possible buying
-
any for sale?
-
well money isn't an object to buy the car....providing its under 6k a few k ere and there wont go a miss but i wont be able to afford a big project. i dont want to go down the single route as it just sounds far to expensive for a really good setup and general maintaining. personally if it was my choice and i had a large wad of cash i'd do a 5.7 V8 conversion running on big twins
-
suppose it depends on condition of the whole car as well really

Ok, ive decided to go for an auto tt when my singles sold..eventually. i was looking for one which is maybe already bpu. now i have read some of the posts before on bpu and most seems around the 400bhp mark. is there any other mods which can produce more power without going single or is this more to do with aerodynamics and weight loss to speed up the car. Just want to be able to get the most out of the car without going single. by the way my current supe will be up for sale as soon as whifbitz sorts it out/fixes etc it tomorrow:)
-
think of an N/A as a weight saving car..who needs heavy turbos and intercoolers anyway! thinking about stripping my single down for the extra weight loss
-
cheers for the info. i would have to drive one in a car park for 5 mins before trusting myself on the road..especially with 400bhp under my right foot lol. dealers car, not so bothered
-
rolls forward without brakes and hold on hills.... interesting. i did search but i wanted to be a bit more specific with never driving an auto car. cheers

Ok, been looking around for my next supra and after some very long and tedius London driving.... stop, pull away, stop, pull away, bus pulls out, stop, pull away....etc for an hour to cover 3 miles (no thanks to my new girlfriends location in Maida Vale ) my left foot is in a slight bit of pain to say the least and twice the size... Anyway when i sell my manual supra hopefully soon, i'm looking for another turbo but not quite sure what to expect from an auto or tiptronic as ive never driven anything except a manual car before. i'm a bit worried/nervous to be honest as i'm not quite sure how they work for things like hill starts and pulling off, the so called "kickdown" etc. i wouldn't mind a compromise with a tiptronic but i think i'd feel a bit weird not knowing what gear its in etc. ive read a lot about the auto boxes and they sound great, and i'm not planning to do any track days...although i do like to thrash it round sometimes. Just wondering if theres a lot of difference in the way the car responds compared to a manual. cheers people

cheers for the info people. the singles fun after 60mph but who really can use that power all the time in everyday driving without reaching stupid speeds dangerously..apart from the motorway. just wondering if my next supe should be bpu or a well done single. i like the idea of huge bhp but not sure about the lack of power in 1st and 2nd gear, where as bpu seems to be straight from the off for quick starts and generally sounds more fun around town etc
-
ok i was wondering people with bpu, single etc, what are around the average 0-60 figures of a tuned supe. iirc its around 4.9 (back in the day) for a 6spd tt so was wondering taking everyones driving style, tyres, trac con, etc, what would be a ballpark figure for a tuned one say 400bhp 450bhp and 500bhp. obviously singles depend on turbo spool setup etc but 0-60 is thrown around a lot now days and wondered if it made a huge difference off the mark in a tuned supe.

enjoyable would be the last thing i would describe my car as. if i had a 6spd box and a few k lying around i might do something about it but i dont and thats one of the hundreds reasons why its going. plus its not fair to my mates to keeep relying on them for lifts everywhere
-
ive spent more cash on my supra than buying another supra!!! its a pit of problems and its time to start again with something that hasn't be fucked around by japs with unconventional tuning methods. I'd rather buy something reliable than put mor £££ into mine
-
ok i agree about the whole de value car issue but to be quite honest i'm not being affected by the credit crunch at all. i live at home and dont pay a lot of rent lol. my jobs safe and i can afford to repay a loan. unless theres something else i'm missing...wouldn't be the first time lol. just with low supra prices i thought i might get a good deal on one during this current climate
-
Ok my supra is prob going to whifbitz next week to fix some problems then off to be sold straight away. Now.... I was looking to get a Celica 205 GT4...BUT, i really like supras (not mine) so much that if i got one it would have to be a TT 6spd. Problem is i want a good one and seen a few from whifbitz for sale which generally look well maintained and in good condition. bit pricey but i need to get something good and reliable....but still blistingly quick looks like i'm goin to get out a loan anyway for the next car but i could prob stretch to that kind of money for a tt. is there much difference in the way of performance of the GT4 compared to the supra, as the supra obviously has the edge on looks and performance but i haerd the gt4 is also a corker. is it worth being in debt for a supra or less of a debt for a gt4? really uncertain about both now

actually, where is the front wiper motor? that would be a start lol
-
cheers, do you know where the earth starts/connects to? ive never looked at the wiper motors before
-
ok the wipers fuse keeps blowing . when i start the car the front wipers move once then the fuse blows. changed the fuses a few times now and same happens. anyone know why this could be? the cigarette lighter still works though and i thought they were on the same fuse?
-
the car has blown 2 w58 boxes since ive had it. first time it went i didn't know about 6 spd boxes. 2nd time it went i was told the new box was a 5spd getrag...turns out they just rebuilt the old one. now i have recently put in a low mileage w58 but drive it sensibly.....except sometimes in 5th. SLAP TIME!!!
-
ok i'm going to book my car into whifbitz at some point to fix a few problems and generally have a good look over the car. now as my 5spd box isn't up for running a single, is it possible to still have it dyno'd without destroying it? i was explaining this to my dad and he thinks it can be done as its not got any resistance/weight(car) to move when its on the dyno. is this correct or do i need to give him a dig for lying lol

i hate it the way this country has turned into a "shameless" accepting culture. They shouldn't have been praised by anyone, especially the parents. They should be locked up for allowing such a discusting decision to be made by the girl. i mean what the fuck was everyone around them thinking when they decided to let her have the kid! i say make an example outta them! no benefits full stop! make the family pay for everything and put the whole bunch of scummers in a workhouse! worked in the 20's. in fact, workhouses for all scummers!
-
ok the numbers are 3, 4, 5, 6, choose a winning order...no decimals lol
-
if i sold it part for part i think my aim would be for around the 4k mark. i'm not sure if thats realistic but a lot of the new parts are mint. real shame cos its just had an awesome spray job done... i know not to some peoples taste but more as a personal attachment for me.
-
i'm gonna have to do something. bit unsure tho. thing is breaking it would be really hard for me as i'm not a mechanic of any kind. interiors and stuff is a piece of piss for me to take out but other things arn't. problem is i'm a bit of a situation where i'm hopefully moving out soon and need to start saving for a house etc. i can prob live with another supra but getting a tt 6spd will be pretty hard to find for my budget. and i don't fancy an auto.
-
oh ive definatly thought about a number of ways to "loose" the car but knowing my luck i'd get caught lol. or even worse- the insurance would be able to fix it!
