  1. All paid up - cheers guys! Appreciate if you could keep your eyes open for me - you know my kind of budget but don't mind paying extra for the right car. black or red, 6 speed, not silly mileage. I am actually going down to a dealer tomorrow to test drive a couple of auto's just to get a feel. I can't imaging buying an automatic car in this league but I'd be annoyed with myself if I didn't at least consider one...
  2. CJ / Homer thanks so much. He did mention something about the bumper being replaced but hey. Maybe I should calm down, hang on and do some research. CJ - Got anything that may suit? Eeep - where do I pay my £10 I think I am about to be barred from posting...
  3. Clarification? Of course I don't know CJ as I am a newbie *grin*
  4. Possibly going to see this in the morning: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/150855.htm Looks a bit like a hovercraft but I could spend some money on it...
  5. Lol Yeah... but... I have been waiting *all week* hehe...
  6. Yeah - it's lovely isn't it. it's my birthday on Sunday and I am *determined* to get myself a Supe this weekend! Anyone have a black 6spd TT they don't want any more ??
  7. What I *really* want is this one http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/139625.htm However it's all going a bit pear shaped. But keeping my fingers crossed!
  8. Hi Guys Looks like the black 6spd manual I want isn't going through... damn seller stopped talking to me! What do you guys think about this one? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/126294.htm Needless to stay, that spoiler will be coming OFF... Anyone know the car?
  9. '95 it is then. Gives me an excuse to sort out my garage since I moved house recently and everything's still boxed up. Looking forward to becoming a regular here...
  10. I'll be taking the forum guide to buying a supra with me and will run through that. I do plan on doing the servicing myself, maybe even the bigger jobs if I get the time - I've done cambelt changes on a couple of cars before, so not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Any that's a great bit of reassurance thanks... just dying to get started now. James
  11. I love this forum - thanks for the quick reply, that's kind of what I was expecting. Course the problem is not being able to be sure of the history but sure as hell I'll be looking after it. The car I will be hopefully buying would have just been driven about 120 miles to where we are meeting so if it's still in one piece after that then confidence will be high. Can't do a cold engine smoke test though - is that a problem?
  12. Hi All Not to start a flamewar or anything here, but I am possibly picking up a 1995 Supe that's done about 73k miles. From reading the wonderful guides on here I might be heading towards problems at 80k with valve stem seals etc. It's going to be a weekend car with the odd track day if I am very lucky... I know I can't possibly know the history of the engine but would appreciate any comments you guys may have. Last older car I bought was a 1998 Audi with 150k on the clock which was nothing for a TDi
  13. Hi Guys The car I am looking at / picking up tomorrow is supposed to be a 1995 RZ - it's not got the leather seats but according to the model guide pdf (thanks mawby) "black leather" is standard fit. What does that mean? Anything I should check for to make sure it really is an RZ?
  14. Ah yes - why is it whenever I buy a modded car it always seems to come from waaaaay up north? Makes for fun road trips when I go to collect them though Can you recommend a tuning shop in the south or south west?
  15. Excellent will look him up. Haven't seen that many around here, there seems to be mre Skylines which made me think about going for the Supra...
  16. Cheers for all your comments guys. I am clockwatching here just dying to get the car. I do plan to get my hands dirty with it as well - I have done most of the servicing and some major-ish things like a timing belt change on my old Audi 2.5 V6 tdi and do enjoy that sort of things. Oh yeah - one other thing, my main resource with my audi was the "Bentley" service manual CD for that model of car, explains every detail. Does something exist for the Supra or is it a case of forum members contributing guides?
  17. Hello all! Well I'm in Swindon, and have actually just been looking at the skid pan at castle combe: http://www.combe-events.co.uk/skidpan.htm Looks just what I need. I lost the back end of my skyline this morning very slighty (and pooed myself just a little) on the exit of a slightly damp roundabout at 5am... scary stuff! Are the supras more or less back end happy - do they have traction control? My "daily" car is an Audi A6 2.7 Tdi and I can abuse the hell out of it in most conditions

    Intro

Hi Everyone Am picking up my Supra on Saturday (hopefully!) It's a TT Manual (RZ)... first Supra but I have been driving a Skyline GTS-T for a while. Took me a while to decide to go for a Supra instead of a GTR. Hopefully made the right choice! My first initial query to the group is if anyone knows of a place to go to get some basic practice or training handling the car - I obviously have some RWD experience with the Skyline but still am at the stage where I am paranoid about cornering and take things really easy... and I believe the only way to learn how to control a fishtailing car is by practise! I'm based in Wiltshire. Cheers
