  1. It's actually a very nice sound, hence me wanting a similar one, just a bit louder. Will be sure to come and visit you one day when I have a done a few things to it...
  2. Mystery solved Course that's a whole other thread, now that Summer is here... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=104709
  3. I think I need to get myself along to a gathering of Supe owners ASAP really....
  4. Errr, doesn't it? Oh dear - maybe I already have one then? It's not very loud, but it's definately has a Psssssh noise when I change gear...
  5. LoL! I really appreciate all your replies. I have had my first weekend with the car and no internet access, so I have been saving all my queries up. After today I'll have plenty of gadgets to order and things to think about... Will see what Nic has for me
  6. I basically want the same noise as stock but louder. Pssssh! Vroom! Pssssssh! (OK I'm a big kid) Any reco's? james
  7. Thanks, any idea where the prox sensor would have been fitted in a Supe? I couldn't see it anywhere obvious. Am guessing most installers would put it in a "standard" location.
  8. Hi All Going to get one of these: http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Fuel_Cut_Defencer-VFCC.asp Is it the recommended one, I know it's not Thor branded but it's from them? I am handy with electrics/soldering so am confident installing it myself, however I wouldn't know what to set the fuel cut threshold voltage / overboost protection switches to...
  9. Indeed, but I don't know what Oil was used, or what else was done... I'd just quite like to start from a known baseline from when I own the car. See your point though
  10. Thanks, very informative mate. Noted re the plugs - I will probably order a set anyway, as I am so close to BPU anyway. I just need to get the soldering iron out and fit an FCD. Are any of the other jobs you listed there garage-only ones? I have never changed gearbox oil before, but am a competent home mech. I guess I just lack "special" tools. James
  11. Hi Guys 1996 TT6 - Mileage about 57k. Last service done at a garage in Feb. I am planning my first bit of work on the car. Basically, I will be giving it a nice service and swapping the plugs for colder ones ready for BPU. I am making a list of things I'll need, however I am unable to come across a definite list on here of what I should replace and when (apart from Fluids) Oil - 10w50 - Silkolene Pro S Oil Filter - Don't know, standard Mr T? Plugs - Denso Iridium - IK24 Fuel Filter? No idea. Do I need a new one? How hard is replacing the fuel pump? If it's not that big a job I'll do it at the same time. Please point out anything else I should be doing. Thanks!
  12. Cool. Might try that. If in doubt, apply Lard.
  13. I have some instructions that I download and printed from the support site, but it's an end user guide only, doesn't cover any set-up or adjustment
  14. Right. I have the part number from a search but now need to know if this is the sort of thing I'd get from a main dealer, or from a nice person on here? Also - if I order one off 67293-14051 would I get 1 set, or 1 rubber only?
  15. Will do mate. Do you know what sensor is causing the alarm in your case?
  16. I will take a look later, see if they looked aged. Hoping that's what it is.
  17. I found a FAQ dealing with this issue, it says to adjust the sensitivity but doesn't tell you how. I guess they want me to take it to a Clifford dealer or something. Anyway if someone knows how to do this, please let me know!
  18. Yeah, I like the sound of that section option much better Any way to check for sure?
  19. Hi All I feel like I'm over-using this forum but it's such a great resource... with time I'll be able to help with newbie ish questions as well. I get a creaking from the rear of the car when going over speed bumps etc. More obvious when there's a back seat / boot full of camping gear! It's seems to be even - not coming from any particular side. Can anyone suggest the most likely cause of this and a possible resolution? Cheers!
  20. Thanks, would appreciate that. Not sure where the sensors are but will have a good look round later. There are of course bits and pieces in the gloveboxes - not sure about metal stuff though. Have found the end user guide for the alarm, so I now know how to check what sensor is setting the alarm off, pretty sure it's the proximity one but I might have a fault somewhere else.
  21. Cheers - it felt mighty strange driving it this morning, Was so quiet and the pedals felt extremely light compared the Supe that I'd been driving all weekend. Still trying to decide if I should keep it or not, now that I have the Supra!
  22. I don't want to give my car something that's "fine" what are the *best*? Or does it not really matter with spark plugs?
  23. Hi All I have a Clifford Concept 300 alarm in my Supe, however it is extremely annoying and goes off all the time. I had to sleep with the key fob by my pillow last night to disarm it at 4am. It does silly things like re-arm itself after you've disarmed it so if you open a door it goes off, blah blah blah. I can disable the auto arming feature (I hope) but I can't see any way of decreasing the sensitivity of the alarm. Since I am parked on a flat driveway with no through traffic, I can only imagine the alarm went off last night due to my cat jumping on it or something. Can I just unplug the siren? I really can't be bothered with an alarm, I just want the remote entry/exit, that's *it*. Just think - when was the last time you heard an alarm going off and actually thought a vehicle was being broken in to and called the police? Cheers James
  24. Also worth pointing out I am 6'5 and I too have no problems - have more legroom that in most cars in fact - just don't ask me to sit in the back!
  25. Hell yeah. It was exactly the same feeling I got when I sheared off the injection pump tensioner in my old A6 after dropping a couple of gears too many on the M5 while overtaking a few years ago!
