  1. Hey guys. Yeah plan B may come into action - ripping out the Trac. In fact it's already disconnected and was about to try starting the car when my friends popped over. It would also save the acute embarassment of trying to race someone at the lights after forgetting to press that damn button! Not that I do that or anything
  2. Arggggghhhhh right this is annoying me now! I just can't get the kick panel to sit right against everything that's underneath. Can you clarify whether you meant the harness connecter should sit on top of the trac ecu, or the main ecu with the wires folded over?
  3. Yeah mine is a facelift, how strange though. I wonder if the car started life as an NA? But everything looks normal, the stock boost gauge on the dash is there, so not too likely IMO. Plus an NA ECU wouldnt have a line in for the MAP and I wouldnt get fuel cut. I'm not going to worry about it
  4. Someone else on here can confirm.. but mine's definately a TT.
  5. Wow seems quite highly recommended, will look into that. Where can I get one from then? Also would I use that with veilside spats too?
  6. I'm looking at mine now - 89661-14770 looks like the p/n It's for a 6 spd manual TT j-spec
  7. Yeah I'm with CW on this one purely because it's the one explanation I hope is correct *grin* There's no oil anywhere else at all in that general area so hopefully I'm OK.
  8. No it hasn't had anything like that changed as far as I know. It was only a very small amount of oil, might check again in a couple of months. At least if it is a problem, it's only going to get as far as the fields harness now, and not the ECU!
  9. Maybe it's ECU fluid leaking out from inside? Hmmmmm...
  10. OK I'll stop thinking about it and actually do it then
  11. Right guys, last question of the day I promise... Once it's stopped raining outside am going to re-fit my ECU with it's new wiring harness. As you can see from the pic there's quite a lot to the harness, now, where should I put things? Do you fold the wires over the top of the ECU, or have it laying flat on top of the Trac ECU? Plan B of course is to get rid of the Trac ECU completely but don't want to do that before I get an RLTC fitted.
  12. How bloody weird! Without having any problems, or knowing when this could have started, I'm going to open up the ECU for a visual check, if everything looks OK I'll give it a clean and connect it all back up. Now I've seen everything!
  13. Guys, Yes having a bit of a car day today. Fitting wiring harness and FCD. Undid the ECU harness and felt a bit of oil like substance. Whipped the ECU out and you can see in the pic I have some oil or something in the connectors. Is that normal? There's no evidence of any leaks, no oil anywhere else in that area, and the rest of the ECU looks great!
  14. Col thanks I will bear that in mind - at this point I will be basially handing off to the 3rd party insurance company to sort out, but if it all gets a bit messy I will just get it sorted myself and take you up on your very kind offer!
  15. Feeling a bit better now as I'd taken it to my garage and they say it's repairable fairly easily. I just need to wait for the other driver to admit liability because it doesn't look like she's going to without a fight
  16. Well things just keep going wrong for me at the moment! I was hit from behind by another driver, damage shown below. Just had an initial call from my insurance company, they seem clueless and have asked me to get some estimates myself, which I have no problem doing as I know a couple of good garages here, but I think I'll want to source the parts myself. What am I looking at here - new rear bumper obviously, but what's the side bit called? Any ideas where I could get them from? James
  17. That's fine - I am technical and can figure out any configuration myself, it's just the *fitting* I need done. I am at home with electronics and soldering irons but not welders and drills
  18. It may take me a while to get it all sorted but I'll certainly keep you all informed!
  19. Not too sure - I may ask him again. He said something about not liking Jap stuff as it's so badly documented, but this is from the USA and seems to come with fairly good docs and support. Any other suggestions welcome!
  20. My plxdevices.com stuff arrived today. All really well packaged and very shiny as well! I have the display unit with remote, EGT sensor, Wideband o2 sensor, and fluid temp for oil. Now, I need some advice - where can I go to get this stuff properly fitted? I want it done well and don't mind paying. CW won't touch it and I haven't heard back from Turbofit so beginning to get worried now!! James
  21. You might be thinking of Layer Cake... another good film!
  22. Guys thanks for your comments, I must admit when I saw it I thought it looked like a pile o' crap! I dread to think what a bad one would look like... Will leave it until I go BPU++++++++ and need an FMIC
