  1. I *think* 32bit XP supports up to 64gb with PAE, but most comsumer level motherboards wouldn't let you have more than 4gb. Been a while since I've looked at this though, the servers I deal with at work just cope with it no prob See here for some info on memory limits http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx
  2. Erm.. what? Generally you'll hit your max boost when the engine is under max load, IE foot to the floor, if that's what you meant. You don't have to be in top gear...
  3. It's true. Much of the address space is reserved for PAE which is a away of addressing more than 4GB. Possibly. I found the most cost effective option was just to install 3GB, and you see all of that!
  4. Depends how long it takes for the tank driver to notice me...
  5. Yeah the S5 isn't that much more expensive from the A5 so they are going to be popular, compared to the ®S6/A6 split
  6. ... 3.0 Tdi, 240bhp I think. 4 wheel drive, glued to the road, but car felt even heavier than my A6, maybe due to the sports suspension and 19" rims. *very* smooth and responsive for a diesel though and full of gadgets inside! Performance was slightly underwhelming though, was expecting a lot more since it's 60bhp more than my A6 which is heavier and "felt" just as fast to me. Tonight I will be test driving the S5 though, should be a lot more like it with 354bhp under the bonnet! Guess I've been spoiled by the supra
  7. It's true what they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing (in this case, VERY little knowledge!)
  8. But... fixable yes? The word "crease" always scares the willies out of me!
  9. Wow that looks like an amazing device, and to think I didn't tell my insurance company about it! Will see if it's removal adversely affects my times at Rotorstock...
  10. Yep going to get it seen to shortly, so hopefully all will be fixable. The boot does shut but not quite lining up to the wing as well as it did, nothing too major and tyre wear is even.
  11. That's exactly what I thought when I pulled the damn thing out of my tank. It seems to be full of little pellets! I can only imagine it's some sort of snake-oil fuel cleanser/treatment that they sell in Japan like those magnets that you clip to your fuel line... sod knows! The car seems to run perfectly well without it though!
  12. Some of you may recall I had an accident a couple of months ago that bashed in my rear quarter and bumper. Got an estimate to have it fixed, new bumper and tap out the wing, new spat etc, no big deal. However I've just been in the boot, and internally it looks like the metal has been pushed up slightly, so the polystyrene bits don't fit in properly any more. It's hard to tell what's going on from the pictures but I really don't know if this sort of thing can be fixed! What do you reckon guys? It seems silly that this would be a write off situation as I've been driving the car for two months, hell it's even won a trohpy at the Pod
  13. It was in the fuel tank - the wire had becomed wrapped around the fuel pump sender and caused my gauge to stop working. SO let this be a lesson - don't go drifting with a BIO EGG in your Fuel Tank!!
  14. My BIO EGG has come off!
  15. Ha, whoops well spotted. That link is fine but does it mean if I put lower W rated ones on, my insurance will be invalid or something?
  16. Right, need to buy some tyres for my A6 - never bought a set before for this car! Looking around it seems really hard to find "Y" rated tyres at a reasonable price. Found a table which suggests Y corresponds to 186mpg! This is a diesel we are talking about! Can I get away with putting some slightly more normal tyres on there? I can get goodyear F1s for 80 quid a corner (not fitted) but they are "W" rated.
  17. That could work out bloody well mate. They in A1 nick?
  18. Getting really annoyed know that my car's been b0rken for so long: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=112197 Probably going to get it fixed myself then try and claim money back from insurance company when the 3rd party finally admit liability! Anyone have what I need? The spat is a genuine Veilside but I suppose if it's a good copy it will do, rather have genuine but don't want to wait for ages.
  19. Found letmeshowyou's excellent thread about changing the pump (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=57473) Looks like there IS a separate low fuel sensor as well as the flappy-floating-arm-thing™ (see picture) so looks like I have to take it all apart again. At least I'll be able to see if supposedly fuel resistant heat shrink has lasted!
  20. Yeah that's what I thought, it's just the fact that the fuel low lamp still works - seems odd that there would be two sensors in the tank?
  21. I guess it was about 3pm by the multi storey car park. You waved, I did too but I'm not sure you could see through my rather well tinted windows!
  22. Hi All Haven't had a chance to look at this yet, however I've noticed that the fuel lamp still illuminates when I'm running really low. Does the fuel lamp use the same floating arm widget on the fuel pump "hanger"? If it does, that means that thing is working and there's no point me undoing that lot again. The other possibility is that there's a separate low fuel sensor at the bottom of the tank or something that's completely separate. Anyone know? Cheers!
  23. Erk 4.15am is about the time you get that weird feeling of being too tired to sleep! Three more hours! Currently passing the time by clicking on "Random Article" on Wikipedia...
  24. Well, working in london + living in swindon = being able to afford supra Normally the train service is fine though, it's just getting the tube from paddington to the city (liverpool street area) is a right pain!
  25. Well this is the first time in a year that it's happened so I've been relatively lucky so far! I suppose I should have gone out and laughed at the harry potter fans at midnight
