  1. Oh, OK not torque steer then. But that sounds exactly right, and it's what CW suggested as well. It may also be uneven wear in my case, since one of the tyres blew out some months ago and I had to replace it. Cheers for the correction
  2. Finally, all the bits arrived, and Chris Wilson performed the work in exactly the amount of time promised (even though he made a good effort of trying to maim himself last week) The car's handling feels so much better now, the ride is totally different. The only outstanding issue is I get masses of torque steer (I think that's the term) which I need to look into. Work performed: New Yellow Bilsteins all round, with CW springs Geo Reset Full set of suspension components - Front/Rear Lower/Upper arms - Front and Rear Drop Links - Subframe mounting bushes - etc etc etc UK Brakes at Rear (already had UK fronts) CW pads all round New SMIC (stock) New crank pulley (stock) CW Clutch New flywheel (stock) Cambelt / Water pump (stock) Engine Oil and Gearbox Oil New O2 sensor (stock) Gearbox oil seal crank oil seal + other oil seals that I have forgotten about Fitment of Wideband O2 and EGT sensors (electronics to follow) HKS SSQV with supra specific fitting kit New facelift headlights Crazy thing is, I could have had a single conversion with the amount it all cost... but that will have to wait for next year now!
  3. Take it easy Chris, please don't damage yourself working on my car! Don't worry too much about Sunday if you need to recover, just let me know as soon you can mate. Take care! James
  4. I can't beieve I keep missing these replies! Money waiting now for an RLTC, please PM me if you have one for sale guys. Cheers James

    Hiya!

Oh just checking Linux/Solaris (and OS X) for me. Linux since about '98 or so for me. Redhat 4 point something I think!
  6. Maybe he's not as heavy as the typical Supra driver? Myself included

    Hiya!

Welcome to the club... regarding your username, How old are you??
  8. ... and it should be finished in time for Christmas *hop* Trying to think of some last minute things he can do for it! It's in for full suspension parts, new shocks/springs and geo set up, also new SMIC.
  9. Come on guys, learn to use the 3 sea shells, so much easier!
  10. You could try selling him a new keyboard without a broken "." and Shift?
  11. Yeah, Ian, spill the beans. Ha. Although presumably as the offset is known, it wouldn't be too hard to find a wheel with the required value. Anyone wanna buy some AVS Model 5's?
  12. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=100055&highlight=front+fog+lights ???? Twisty thing?
  13. I have 18's on currently - AVS Model 5's. I am not sure if they count as Bling but I like them! As CW has the car, perhaps I will ask him what offset they are, and how different that is from stock. It's pretty disenheartening to spend 2.5k on bits, wait 8 weeks for 'em, drive 2 hours and then be told you're wasting your money though
  14. Agreed CW is the Guru, but does that mean everyone with non standard wheels is a mug?
  15. My car has been dropped of at CW's "estate" for a full suspension rebuild including Bilstein shocks and CW springs. I am using the list from Nic about what to replace but basically it's everything, all the arms and dropbears and other things I don't quite know the purpose of Now, my car has aftermarket wheels and according to CW this means the handling of the car with never be 100% unless I get wheels with the right offset, and apparently 99% of all aftermarket wheels are wrong. Now, I don't *need* 100% - I am not off to the track every weekend, in fact I've never tracked this car. Am I wasting my money? I think CW mentioned there's one type of Lexus wheel that has the right offset, but surely there's more choice than that if I do need to change my wheels...?
  16. I'm putting my Trac ECU back in for the winter - should be an easy job. My FCD is on a harness and can just be pulled out and replaced
  17. Well the rods are no longer spindly Thinking back several months now - this actually happened in July - just before this failure an oil change was performed on the car, and there was a possibility that it was overfilled by maybe half a litre. Wonder is this could have been a factor? What actually happened was the car was driving up to Santa Pod (in a convoy, not at high speed or anything) and suddenely got a lot of smoke from the bonnet area, pulled over and a LOT of oil had been pushed out of the dipstick, all over the engine hence the smoke. Towed back home, stripped the timing gear off and we saw that the balancer shaft belt had snapped... and the rest of the story is a the rebuild. It's hard to know what the root cause was but I'd be interested in hearing your ideas guys, now that it's all back and working again!
  18. As far as we can tell, or guess, the balancer shaft belt snapped, which somehow starved the crank end of that piston of oil, it then overheated and melted the bearing onto the conrod like you can see in the picture. It's difficult to separate cause and effect though after the fact! The sump was full of metal shards, it was a hell of a mess. Cost us £2k though and that's doing the work ourselves
  19. The Supra has been fairly neglected over the last couple of months, since the Evo went *snap* *clatter* *clatter* Psssss (that's the sound of all the oil coming out) *bang* There seems to be something wrong with this pic: So, we went shopping! For the rest of the story, in pictures, click here: http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w279/cheekysupra/Evo%20IV/Engine%20Build/ We have learnt a lot in the last few weeks, I can tell you...
  20. Hi Kev, no haven't ordered any others yet. I do have a couple for the Evo so I will see if they are the same size as the supra ones next time I do an oil change
  21. Possibly in some hidden "easter egg" type level, who knows I'm actually quite glad I found this thread about the game - it's not just marketed at little kids then is it
  22. Torrented it on Friday - It's really good. Been playing it at the weekend and I love it even though I am not usually a gamer. Once I can find it in stock somewhere I will definately buy a copy. I hope wario makes an appearance in it
  23. Probably worth mentioning... id you're in ANY doubt about fiddling with something that by it's very nature, mixes water and electricity, AND you stand in the thing with bare feet... you should probably call in a professional
  24. Gotta love this bit from the site: "If all else fails, you can try sticking your Harmony Super Charger to the side or underneath of your steering column. It is better, however, to have it in a position where it is within your field of vision." You need to be able to see it incase you forget it's there and the placebo effect wears off!
