  1. Hi All Finally working through the last little niggles with the car now that the suspension is sorted After heavy rain I get water at the bottom of the door when I open it, and my seatbelt comes out of it's slot feeling rather soaked, but it dries out quickly. Seems to be happening since the door was taken off and re-fitted. Are they any adjustments that I can do to sort this out?
  2. That car must be a pussy magnet
  3. Perhaps removing the first cat might do it I must try and listen to a Supra with one of those. I like the idea of "discreet sports racing" - perhaps it comes with a brown envelope as well! Seriously though, I wish I could keep the same sort of exhaust sound but just make it quieter. I love the canal-boat style warbling at idle
  4. Part of the reason I got Chris to leave my first cat in was to evaluate what the EGTs will be, so I guess I've now established they really will be too high for the sort of boost I want going forward. I will now look at performing a full de-cat and making my exhaust quieter
  5. Hi Welcome to the club! Like any car, there are reliable, well maintained Supras, and some dogs! Best bet is to read through the buyers guide and make sure you follow all the points. However you're asking about fuel economy, and cost of parts and servicing... you know this is going to be an expensive car to run, especially at 70 miles per day. I get about 250 miles to a tank (£70), but as it's a weekend car I probably drive it harder than you would be. I have noticed parts are expensive compared to other jap cars, not sure why this is but with a bit of planning ahead you can get a good deal on parts from Traders on here.
  6. Thanks guys I will turn the wick down a bit for now. Would my first cat being in place be responsible for my high EGT... would this restriction downstream of the engine be causing it?
  7. Whoops! Will see what I get at a more sensible boost level, also the car is being mapped on Sunday with Ryan at SRR so I'll be getting his advice as well
  8. OK thanks! I did hit 900-and-something last night when I went to 1.2 bar.... will keep an eye on that. Of course it's only for a few seconds while on the boost though...
  9. OK, the EGT probe is in the correct place as far as that goes then. What do you think a reasonable upper limit should be for my EGTs? Should I be worried at 1000 deg or 1200 or what for a stock TT engine? Haha, thanks Nic
  10. Not sure mate. If it's in the first cat, then most likely it's still there. I raise the boost as needed with my controller. With the controller off in this nice cold weather I get 1.0 bar at full whack. I crank it up to 1.2 when I'm feeling lucky but not very often *grin* OK so to give you an idea, I have my first cat only in place, and no backbox. It's a 3" pipe from second de-cat to the back of the car. Nice and loud.. and the first cat seems to restrict the boost to a sensible 1.0 bar. So am I right in thinking I won't know if my tubbies are getting too hot until they blow up?
  11. Just another little worry (yes I worry too much) I want to monitor EGTs because my first cat is still in place, and I know that it can get very hot and make the turbos run too hot (is that right?) However, with the EGT probe mounted *before* the turbos/cat will it still give me adequate warning of things getting too hot? At what point should I be worried?
  12. Thanks guys that has put my mind at rest. Also, Chris, the boost controller is working fine now, it was the hoses the wrong way round as you suggested. Getting EGT of 900 odd at 1.2 bar but it quickly drops again afterwards.
  13. I thought my EGT sensor was faulty as it was reading about 20 deg C which is possibly rather cool. It seems have to sorted itself out now, may be an intermittent connection but I had a run just now, and got these sort of figures: Idle: 400-450 ish Normal driving: 550-650 ish On boost: 750-850 (may be a bit less than 850) Also, the numbers were changing VERY quickly (both up and down) and made me think I was getting phantom values, but do EGT gauges really react that quickly? CW mounted my sensor literally centimeters from the head, on the exh manifold.
  14. If it helps I run apache and wotnot for a few little sites on my ADSL connection at home. I can host it for you if you don't mind the odd outage - I run mail servers for me and my family so it's not often out but can't make any promises I run virtual servers on Vmware so either windows or linux it's up to you.
  15. Fur kit! Although... my price is fitted, and they're in stock (need them for mapping session on Sunday)
  16. GOd I just paid £380 ish for 2 x Goodyear F1 from blackcircles.com, same dimensions as your rears. have I been done?
  17. Ah, cheers! That certainly looks like it!
  18. I just had my bits done - my stock springs should still be with CW, if you want them?
  19. Does anyone recognise this gadget? It's apparently a g-force meter for calculating BHP given the weight of the car. Have a web link to http://www.race-technologies.com but no model number, and their forum requires a mod to approve membership, so I thought I'd ask here if anyone has ever used one?
  20. Resident Evil: Umbrella is excellent as a "party" game if you have friends over who aren't necessarily gamers, just point and shoot - the action is on rails so you don't have to move around. A lot of fun in 2 player mode. RE4: Wii Ed is like a regular game, but it's also pretty good I've heard.
  21. just sell it to me if you can't fit it
  22. I checked the tyre wear last night and it is significantly uneven on the rears. One side is nearly new and the other is quite worn so I expect this is the culprit. So need to decide if I am replacing the wheels or getting new tyres. Merry Christmas everyone!
  23. I still get that, I put it down to low profile tyres though. Really makes you feel every imperfection in our terrible roads though. Looking forward to the track! What springs did you have, and why are you going back?
  24. I figured I want a 100% base to start modifying power wise. Plus, not being that experienced I can barely handle 300+ bhp right now, let alone 500 odd Next mod will be a track day for myself, to learn
