  1. Update on this, car is now with Mr Whiffin and he says there should be a rubber seal on each side - mine had perished, and hopefully he's going to get me some new ones.
  2. Cheers mate yes that was a while ago! Can't remember the exact location but possible the inland beach type thing in the cotswolds water park

    Lego

Oh, yes! 4 years ago I saw the technic supercar in the lego shop and my wife got it for me for christmas. Since then I have about 10 technic kits - digger, helicopters, planes, and most recently a big ass crane. Awesome stuff. And my favourite non-technic lego - little Wall-E! http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/WALL-E-21303?HQS=wall-e%20lego The only problem I have found is that lego boxes these days aren't as good as they used to be. They are not as sturdy and can't be re-used so much, so most of my kits end up in the strong plastic boxes with blue handles that you can get from hobbycraft or supermarkets.
  4. Not really sure about long term - I'm quite like having one of the fastest cars on stock j-spec turbos on the forum and I love the drivability it gives. I expect though that if my turbos ever do give up the ghost I will go single as I have a decent enough fueling setup to support 600hp right now, I'd just need the turbo, fmic, and a map!
  5. Hey all Not exactly a newbie but I have not been active on this forum for 5 years! Life has been getting in the way of enjoying the supra but now has come the time to get enjoying it again and sort out all the little niggles. Engine wise the car is spot on as it had the Whifbitz treatment last year where Paul took the engine out to do the bottom end bearing and the valve stem seals and sorted out a few perished pipes which were restricting boost. Discovered water in the drivers footwell a week or so ago but luckily it is very clean water - looks like I have had some water ingress via rear quarter Windows and possibly spolier bolts into the boot too, the entire interior including carpet is now out, dry and pending a clean up. The carpet smells a bit funny up close which is why I'm looking for a replacement! Have had a fun weekend taking advantage of an empty interior to really sort out some old wiring issues. Central locking is working again, and the knackered alarm system has been deleted. The stupidly long wires for the boost controller and AEM water system have been trimmed, soldered and heatshrunk. Next steps - fixing the water ingress problems, and really tidying up the exterior. There are some weather seals i want to replace as they have gone a bit green a manky from a couple of years of neglect. This is NOT going to happen again! About myself, I'm 37 and live with my wife and pug in Swindon. I work in IT and currently am based from home. Looking forward to getting more involved again - bring on the track days - llandow, anyone?
  6. Keron has them in stock. Out of interest are you replacing a duff one? My locking was acting up (unlocking but not locking) and this can be the door control unit but in my case the problem lay elsewhere.
  7. I am diagnosing a minor water ingress issue and I am getting water collecting in the rear right corner of the boot. I thought it must be coming in from the spolier bolt holes. I removed the spolier and cleaned a small amount of gunk / moisture from the bodywork and would now like to refit it. Rather that just bolting it on, is it standard practise to use any sort of bonding or sealing agent between the spolier and the boot? Standard spolier btw.
  8. I have a similar fault on the passenger side, so less critical. I lost the ability to lock via electronic command. Diagnostics showed the the signal to lock the doors was permanently being held to ground by something. Found it was the little sensor / switch attached to the door lock barrel had fallen off and I could not see how to reattach it properly - so I just disconnected it. I now have central lock back again via drivers side doors switch and alarm fob. The only thing that doesn't trigger the central locking now is the passenger side door physical key. If you are willing to do the same, you'd lose physical key based central locking from the drivers side door, but electrical based lock and unlock should still work - assuming you have correctly diagnosed the broken part of course!
  9. Have already enquired about that part assuming you mean he central locking control unit. He's checking it for me.
  10. Mate I PMed you about a couple of things... You got it?
  11. Thanks for the hints guys. Bring on the weekend where I can play some more
  12. Oh dear, yes if that is the case I will have problems. I am following the instructions from Jezz's heater matrix guide and the way I read that is suggests the loom comes out with the dash. Further backed up my seeing that the loom is quite firmly fixed to the inside of my dash! Will have to have another look at things in the week. Might try re attempting to access the locking ecu via the top and bottom glove box to avoid all the aggro!
  13. I would have thought if they are attached to the dash loom they would be able to remain in place as the whole thing comes out, since we are disconnecting the dash look from the rest of the car.
  14. Do you mean upper or lower glove box? I have a facelift and have an airbag instead of an upper box. I removed the lower box today and can see the red locking ECU behind the loom but I can't see how to get it out. And yes my hands are large and unwieldy
  15. Did you need to remove them before the dash was able to come off?
  16. Oh, plugs... that's actually what I am stuck on at the moment. Trying to unplug the dash loom from each side of the car is proving to be difficult! It's the orange one on the passenger side and the blue one of the drivers side that seem to be attached to the car in some way. Grrrr!
  17. So my poor Supra has been under-utilised the last couple of years and I am now starting to get her back to tip top condition. Engine is spot on thanks to Paul Whiffin and I've tasked myself with cleaning up the electrical mods and fixing the central locking which seems to have gone AWOL this winter. After much fiddling this weekend most of the interior of the car is out and I've started the job of removing the dashboard, because after looking at the location of the central locking ECU there is no way my big hands are getting to it. I am considering doing the heater matrix as a precaution while the dash is out - anything else I should consider doing?
  18. Hey mate did you crack this in the end? Need to get my airbag out to hopefully access the central locking controller. Either that or take the whole dash off!
  19. I currently have a PLX devices set up in my car which was fantastic in theory but awful in execution. Really poor quality product and lack of support from the states. It's a 60mm screen which displays AFR, water temp, oil temp and EGT. I do basically trust the sensors especially the Bosch wideband O2 sensor, so it would be really nice to be able to ditch the PLX electronics and hook something else up to the sensors. Could this be done, and what systems do people recommend these days? I really want to stay away from multiple pods. One 60mm colour display was what attracted me to PLX in the first place.
  20. Great, will it look any different from an originally black carpet? Assuming it was grey before? Are you anywhere near Wiltshire?
