  1. Auto Art do some really nice cast models. Not the cheapest though but bloody good. http://www.autoartmodels.com/web/product/en/317?antiCache=1406647945579D2E368FE3CDBB5C1560624047F635117
  2. Ive got one of the tamiya kits to finish off, Ive done a few extra mods to it too, Trying to make it look like my own.
  3. Cheers Kaan Im struggling with it as its currently on stands and have about 6 inches either side for access, Im going to lover it down and pust it back onto the wider part of my driveway, hopefully that will make it a touch easier. Gav
  4. I didnt get any time to work on the supra this weekend unfortunatley, Ive been helping my mate get his vw beetle ready for a vw show next weekend. It had a heavily over fueling carb which was flooding his engine massivley. Luckily it was an easy fix due to an incorrectly fitted float and needle valve by a vw specialist of all places So hopefully im going to get some work done this week and eventually get that bloody loom out lol. Thanks for the comments guys Gav
  5. Got my bits back from the coaters. came out better than expected.
  6. I think its one and only purpose is to protect the user in an event of a fire, say for example there was a fire under the bonnet, the plastic lugs melt and the matting drops onto the engine. So then if you see smoke under the bonnet and you lift it up you dont get the back draught of flames up in your face. Saying that though every car i have owned ive removed it and will be doing on mine soon too as it looks to have gone slightly mouldy.
  7. How on gods earth do you get that loom out without removing the wings. My loom disappears over the front wheels. Its really starting to peve me off.
  8. Im almost there. I had some dye in my aircon pipes which looks like the predator has bled out all over the place. and ive also finished off my engine trolley to help me transport it later on. not done too bad this evening. Gav
  9. Just so I can give the whole bay a re spray. The loom is kinda in the way. I could probably work around it but it would make my life easier without. Gav
  10. In order to remove the engine bay wiring do I have to remove the wings ? gav
  11. Nice twins I had to do a double take. Looking good so far, any more updates? Gav
  12. With regards to the cam covers, obviously they get blasted to give the paint a propper surface to bond to. On the inside of the cam covers there are metal plates for the breather pipes. how can i stop bits of grit/shot beads from getting in they look like they are riveted into place. Can i just give the whole lot a bath afterwards to wash out any bits. The last thing i want is to get them fitted and bits of grit start falling out onto my cams. Gav
  13. I may be wrong so I have just emailed them to confirm.
  14. The guy i spoke to does his coatings at around 180 degrees C, Im sure thats the figure he gave me when he did my monkey bike frame. Hopefully that will be well sufficient enough to withstand the engine bay temps. If it does start flaking it not too big of a deal to remove the bits again, I cant be bothred getting it polished up as it more hard work keeping it all clean afterwards lol.
  15. Cheers for the comments folks. I shall hopefully have some nice shiny parts before the weekend. I need to get in contact with Paul to see about dropping it off for its rebuild. Ive never built an engine before se I feel a little bit out of my depth with that part lol. Gav
  16. I got a small bit done tonight. removed a few bits for powdercoating. That pretty much as far I I could tonight
  17. Where is going to be my best place to get replacement rubber hoses from for the ps resevoir,as ine were rock hard so I just crunched them up to remove it. Im going to be installing my greddy plenum so I may need to use some longer hoses to run the resevoir some where else in the engine bay. Gav
  18. I really want those wheels they have been my favourite for ages.
  19. Good to see another Supra getting the propper treatment.
  20. Very busy day for me today. Prop shaft out. Everything unbolted and hoist moved into place. Lifting begins. all done for the day. I dont think ive done too bad considering ive been on my jack jones doing it all. My choice of shower gel this evening was er well swarfega lol.
  21. Cool. Its about 2foot up now so should be ideal. Only the bonnet. Engine and gearbox mounts to go. See you on the other side
  22. Quick question for people that have removed their engines in the past. Whats the best height to have the car at. Obviously the gearbox needs to drop so the engine lifts at the front. My car is currently about 2 foot off the ground. Would it be better if I lowered the front and kept the rear elevated. Any help would be great as its all most ready to come out. Gav
  23. Again ive been quite busy the last few weeks. But ive managed to get a fair bit done today, so hopefully the engine will soon be out. Some home made gate hinges I designed and built myself. Rocking some Abec 11 rollerblade ballbearing for smooth operation. New 100mm x 100mm post installed, fence panel cut along wit the concrete slab to suit the new post. A hanger on the house side. my newly welded and painted up frames. Facia boards painted and attached, should stop people from seeing whats going on up my drive. So today i got the supra jacked up nice and high to give me plenty of space to work underneath. Removed my HKS exhaust to discover lots of rot on the weld. With not enough meat to weld it up without melting through it. so looks like a new one is going to be required. I didnt take any more pics today but ive removed the PS pump, AC pump and all the pipe work associated with both, ecu wiring loom is out and al the cables unplugged. So hopefully tomorrow i shall unbolt everything underneath an pull the old girl out. Easier said than done lol. Gav
  24. Cool thats all I wanted to know. Cant fit a piece of wood in the gap so I suppose the rubber mat on the jack will have to do
