  1. Cheers guys, I was looking at scissor calculators on the net and completley forgot about the old SOHCAHTOA.
  2. Dont forget to show you workings .
  3. Im in the middle of making a scissor lift in the garage. The trouble is my maths is'nt great so i need a bit of help. Excuse the crappy diagram i just knocked it up for the purpose of this. The main bars are 2.5m long pivoted in the middle and i want it to lift to 1m in height. The calculation im after is how much travel im going to get if the main bars are fixed at the right hand side end. If you know what i mean. The bottom pic has a dimention missing its that which im trying to find. Any help would be great. Gav
  4. Is this stuff ok. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60229-millers-oils-cro-10w-40-competition-running-in-oil.aspx
  5. Hi guys. What is the best oil to use for a single built engine for its running in period and in general afterwards. Im buying oil for my corolla so may as well buy in advance for the supra too. Any help would be great. Gav
  6. All stainless bolts too chris I plan to put an electronic opening mech on them eventually so i can have a key fob for the Supra and the motorbike so i dont have to mess around opening and closing them behind me all the time.
  7. Make your own its not that hard. I used metal box section so that the gates wont sag the same as wooden gates.
  8. People seriously put them in at 200 deg c common sense should have stepped in there lol.
  9. Got my weekend tickets. Beckets corner for us.
  10. Is from the club. From the for sale section. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?312314-HKS-T04Z-Turbo-Kit all the exhaust ports align its the four bolt holes (2 each end) that dont align
  11. Not sure what all the fuss is about. My crank bolt and pulley came off quite easily.
  12. If when i check tonight and the exhaust ports align, Would i be able to use stepped down exhaust studs? so that i dont have to look at geting the holes in the manifold elongated.
  13. I got some more work done on my engine last night, Ive removed all of the inlet side of the engine. So im now ready for removing the head to strip it all down for its rebuild. I thought whilst its sat there i will do a trial fit of the single turbo exhaust manifold to puta smile on my face and see what it will all look like bolted together. BUT IT DOES NOT FIT So im rather peed off at the min. The exhaust studs are progressivley out of allignment with the holes on the exhaust manifold. Im un sure if elongating the holes will sort the issue as the actual exhaust ports may be out of allignment too. Needless to say there were a few swear words and a now broken chair in the corner of the garage. The thing that gets me is the fact that there is score marks where the nuts have been tightened down on all the holes, so it has been fitted to a head in the past at some point so i cant see why it wont fit mine. are all heads exactly the same? As im really un sure what to do now. Any help would be great Gav
  14. Small update, Found my water leak i had A rouge bolt i must have dropped many moons ago. I only told the missus i was going in the garage for 5 mins and 2 hours later I emerged all mucky and greasy. Gav
  15. When I sent my cam cover's off for powder coating the guy behind the counter said he could not promise that he would be able to keep all the shot blasting out from underneath the breather plates. So since i got them back i have wanted to remove the plates and give them a good clean out, As the last thing i want is some shot blast media floating around near my cams when the engine all goes back together. So here is my little walk through Firstly I started with a hammer and a punch on the raised squashed riveted holding points. I used the punch just to help guide the first drill into place without it wandering. I used a small 2.5mm drill to get things going. I then stepped up to a 5mm drill to open out the holes. Once I drilled them out i used another 5mm drill bit, using the blunt end I inserted it into the hole and gave it some leverage to crack off the remainder of the rivet. Once all the rivets had been removed i could remover the plate, And my word there was som crud underneath. So out came the bottle of Acetone and a tooth brush to clean all the parts up, Obviously keeping it well away from the painted side of my cam cover's. Once the parts were cleaned and the gunk removed I set my mind on drilling and tapping some holes to accept my new stainless 4mm thread bolts. I used a 3.2mm drill and a set of three taps, first, second and final cut, all though just the final cut would be fine. Once all the holed had been drilled and tapped, I proceeded to re-seal the plates and re-install them to the cam cover's. I used some lock tight to hold the bolts in place as i dont want them coming undone. I then ran up the bolts and cleaned up the excess sealant. Bish bash bosh job done and i now know there is nothing inside them that may cause damage to my engine. Gav
  16. If your going to cut your loom to re locate the fuse box somewhere in thcab using crimps. Space your crimps out otherwise you will end up with a clump of crimps in one area which may prove harder to hide, and i would also purchase a propper crimping tool and crimps. As the plastic coated crimps from the likes of halfords are just shite. Get some like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3mm-Brass-Bullet-F-Crimp-Terminals-and-Covers-400pcs-/271557135646?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f3a110d1e#ht_55wt_1181 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RATCHET-CRIMPING-TOOL-FOR-NON-INSULATED-CRIMP-TERMINAL-CONNECTOR-BLUE-/190879714786?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2c71514de2#ht_344wt_1181 Im sure you know that lol but i just thought i would share. Good luck with the rest of you build Gav
  17. Its a real pita to do. Mine exploded stationery at some traffic lights and took the aa man nearly 2 hours to replace with a random bit of hose from his van. I had to replace it the following weekend with the genuine part. Prepare yourself for muchos swearing lol. If you dont have any invest in some of these. http://www.diseno-art.com/images_2/hose_clamp_pliers.jpg will make grabbin the clip at the base a lot easier
  18. Good call with the bolts, I have amassive stash of them I have been collecting over the years. If my mates ever come round for repairs etc... i always replace the bolts for stainless if i have the right size. Good luck with the rest of the build its looking good soo far.
  19. Hopefully my car should be finished by then. I'd love to come on this.
  20. Ive always hated my gear knob which I think is a veilside one. So I was going to purchase a new one. The trouble is I can't get the old one off I think the previous owner has lock tight'ed it on. It spins a few turns and then locks solid. There are no grub screws I can see holding it in place so ive given up. I have the whole assembly out including the gear box due to my engine rebuild. My question is has any one used the aluminium short shifters off ebay? As I may as well replace the lot seeing as I cant get the knob off. And are they any good. I don't want to buy any junk. Any help would be great. Gav
  21. I so wish I had the money. I love those wheels.
  22. Like everyone else has mentioned. Its not the end of the world. Find yourself a good second hand set and get a competent garage to fit them for you.
