  1. Any electrical gurus out there that can help me with this that would be great. I'm currently in the process of installing some security flood lights to the front of my property to cover the cars on my driveway. I have never really had much to say about PIR sensors as they seem to trigger at the smallest thing or not come on at all when you want it to. The only reason i want it to be triggered by a break beam is that it is then a dedicated system to be triggered by an intruder only and not a tree branch moving in the wind. My idea is to run a IR Break beam reflector across the front of my driveway at say 3 foot high as to not be set off by cats etc walking through the beam. The Break beams have an alarm/trigger output on them which i am gathering is to be linked into the house alarm to set that off to warn you of an intruder. Would it be possible to link that alarm function of the Beam Sensor to trigger the flood light via a relay? I can do basic electronics so when it comes to complex stuff I'm no electrician. Most of the sensors run of a voltage range of 10 volts to 30 volts and the floodlight would be running off the mains voltage. This is the sensor i'm thinking about https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quantek-Reflective-Photoelectric-Detector-Sensor/dp/B008EHJ0L6 I'm sure some one with some good electrical knowledge would easily be able to work out a wiring diagram and components in order to make this work. Any help would be great Gavin
  2. Transporter it is then. There must be so many people out there that have project cars without tax and mot's and have to get them to mot test centres. The whole thing is such a black hole you don't know legally where you stand with it all.
  3. Hey guys n gals. I have bought a car off a bloke from work 2003 audi a3 for 250 quid. The car has no tax or mot. The car is in Warrington and I live in Preston which is a 40 min drive door to door. Now is there anything stopping me from getting day insurance, BOOKING in an mot at a local to me test centre and driving it home instead. That way I have insurance to cover me just in case I get pulled over and also have the proof of a booked mot as my direct destination but then drive home and cancel the mot. If not I'll just book a transporter to move it.
  4. As the title suggests what's the difference between the two. I can see That there is a graphite grey insert around the internal lenses but that about it. Is there any other differences. Gav
  5. Do you think this kit would arrive in one piece from the states, It doesn't seem to be too bad of a price for the complete kit. https://www.bodykits.com/i-24224023-toyota-supra-duraflex-td3000-wide-body-body-kit-8-piece-111239.html they do a 10 piece kit too. https://www.bodykits.com/i-26913227-toyota-supra-duraflex-td3000-wide-body-body-kit-10-piece-111088.html its the only place I have found that seems to do a ful kit.
  6. Ill weigh up all my options first im just trying to get my head around it all at the min, but as far as im concerned if its 100% scrap you can have it.
  7. I was thinking that but i'm not sure what else is required to get it all up and running, i.e does it require a replacement loom over the standard loom in order to run the VVti System or is it all controlled via oil pressures etc... I have no idea as i have never looked into it. My engine is currently with Paul to be completely rebuilt but he as just informed me today that his machine shop has said my head is scrap.
  8. I've just been informed by Paul at Whifbitz that my cylinder head is scrap which isn't the news I wanted to hear. It's a pre vvti head that I'm after. Let me know what you have Gav
  9. Hi guys I'm after some rear lights. I'm after experimenting with something so I'm not overly fussed about the condition just let me know what you have. Ideally the cheaper the better lol. Gav
  10. Or does any one know if the rack was shared between another vehicle.
  11. I must admit I have been looking at the Skoda Fabia 1.4 TSI's they look pretty cool and have a bit of poke to back them up. So its looking like one of these may be on the cards.
  12. I take it you didnt see the part "I don't want anything huge as its mainly going to be the car for the missus."
  13. The missus and I have been together now for just over 11 years, and have for the last 6 months been trying for a baby, so now we have the first meeting with the mid wife coming up. . Now we have 2 cars which are a Corolla T Sport, which is my daily car, and a Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S (2007 model), Both cars a three doors, so they aren't going to be the most practical for getting baby seats in an out of the back of. For me the corolla can stay as apart from only having 3 doors, its actually quite useful as its the largest boot I've come across in a hatchback before we bought a two seater sofa from Argos and it went straight in boot with the seats down. I'm looking to replace the Fiesta with something else. My budget would be around £4k with the sale of the Fiesta at hopefully around £2k my total would be around £6k give or take. I don't want anything huge as its mainly going to be the car for the missus, but then i don't want anything too boring as I'm going to be driving it at some point too. There hasn't been that much that has jumped out at me really in terms of fun a practicality so i have come here to see what you guys would recommend. Gav
  14. I'm after a good condition steering rack for a 1994 manual TT. If any one has one please let me know. Mine leaks so I figured I'd just replace it instead of trying to fix it. Gav
  15. Maybe more of a question for the builders on here. Does any one know of any simple to use software for designing home floor plans, im only looking into the idea of extending but could do with playing around with a few ideas. Im bored of drawing on paper, I know there are a few online browser things but im not intrested in being online all the time to use some drawing creator. If any one has a copy or knows where i can downlpoad a simple floor planer for DIY purposes that would be great. Gav
  16. Car jackings, turbo timer is pretty good for that. set it to 1 minute setting, if you do ever get jacked ata set of lights, whip the key out quickly without them looking, they think its all still running, The car will drive but only for 60 seconds before it cuts out. Hopefully they aint going to get very far in 60 seconds. saves you potentially getting stabbed or what ever for resisting, although i dont think i could just give it up without a fight. Just an idea.
  17. Sorted it now. I didn't realise it just pulled out I thought you had to knock the pin out of the fork. Cheers guys
  18. Separating the 2jz-gte engine from the getrag 6 speed manual box. Once all the bell housing bolts are out. Do you have to remove the clutch fork assy to split them apart.
  19. I've tried that one around 3 to 4 times over the last year and never got a response from it unfortunately. That's why I went with the contact us bit on the website instead.
  20. yup the email that is on their website and thats the response from them
