I know nuts can be blooming expensive, The aerospace trade is rediculous for it. Can pay well over £100 for a nut that is the equivelent of an m8 nut.
-
You must be nuts £10 a nut.

I think for the time being im going to fix what i have and get a good running BPU supra allthough the saving has started for the single, I just want her back on the road again for summer loving (if it doesnt rain all year again). Its already got the BPU kit on but what benefit would cams and a ported head make if any? Gav
-
I dont seem to have much of that.

Ive done the maths so its easily acheavable on my wage. I havent included overtime in that either but i can easily pull in another £650 per month just by working fridays. I think im going to buy one of the whifbitz kits new so i know that everything is mated propperly and im not going to be on the hunt for induvidual parts that could take a while so ill see what happens. Watch this space. Gav

Im chuffed to think im going to have a go myself. Like i said i dont know what to put with what. But once i have everything i need im positive I can put it all on and put it together. I know the basics for electronics and things like that so yea it will be tricky but not impossible.

only trouble is i havent got that cash laying around at the moment lol.
-
the block in looking at at the moment is for sale on here by m4w tt. Im thinking this would be a good solid point in which to start. And then if i get the bug i have scope to go bigger later down the line.

Will do, I was going to drop him an email but im going home now so havent got time just this min. Joys of no manager and free time allows me to traul the net on £15 an hour - - - Updated - - - J spec 6 speed manual so i have a good base there.

Thats what ive heard, My mate at work bought a turbo from them some time ago now and the little screw an the shaft of the inteke side came undone and pinged around the front of the blades and minced it up. Only had it a week

If i were to use this kit what other parts would best complement it. I take it i would still be able to use the standar inlet manifold and throttle body or would i have to be going down the plenum route too? http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-turbo-upgrades-turbo-kits-garage-whifbitz-p-12162.html

Ive heard that the manifolds and exhausts they do are ok but it was the turbo side of things that let them down, That was when i was looking at things around a year ago. either way i wont be using them.

I want it run and perform and not be a complete pain in the arse which is why i havent gone for high bhp goals. So im going to try and source the important parts brand new and the no to important second hand. All over a space of time. I have literally just set up the new supra savings account so the money is going to be flying in there to hopefully start buying bits around march time. What setup would you guys recomend then? Gav

That sounds good to me. I was budgeting for around 7-8 k over a longer time scale.

I know people are going to say buy one ready done but i really want to do it my self. Ive been away from here for around 12 months as my engine got the death rattle and i couldnt be arsed wit the car any more. I see it sat on the drive every day and its starting to make me feel sorry for the old girl. I have decided once my polo is sorted and off the drive I will have the space to work on my supra [GRIN][/GRIN]. I have a spare block complete with pistons etc.. But im thinking about purchasing one of the built engines that currently havent sold on here as a good base to start. Im going to admit that i know bugger all about what turbo is best to use with what spec'd engine. Bugger all about anything about upgrading to single. I have good mechanical skills and would have no problem what so ever fitting the parts and fabricating things to fit etc... which is where Im going to try and keep the costs down a bit by doing it my self. The trouble is i havent got the faintest idea where to start with regards as to which turbo and setup to run and what matches to what best etc... I want to aim for 550 ish HP which i think is a resonable hp to go for. Im not after stupid power. Like i said im thinking i might flog my complete straight block with pistons, crank etc... and put the money towards one of the built blocks on here. Im ready for a slagging off and being told not to bother and to get some one to carry out the work for me but where's the fun in that. I want to learn and where better to do it than on here where there is a vast amount of knowledge and a great place for me to learn and get to understand things. If any one can head me in the right direction of parts and a good setup to be used to gain a good figure. Good second hand parts come up one here so its possible it can be done to a somewhat budget. Its going to ba a case of save buy save buy all the way through so its going to take me a while but its something i really want to do. Any info would be massive help Gav

The only problem is, I wouldnt currently be able to afford to get it fixed as other things have got in the way, so my savings have been dried up latley. Im not going to go down the breaking route as i really dont heve the time the space and the patience to do so. I was thinking around the 4k mark would be a good starting price, Really gutted im going to be having to do this.

As some of you may know my supra has bee off the road now for around 8 months due to a bottom end rattle. In the 8 months I have been saving up to repair the poor thing other things have got in the way of doing so. I also really dont have the time now to be carrying out the work myself, so I can see the Supra just sitting there deteriating on the drive. Im after knowing what its worth so I know what price to advertise it for. I have come to the conclusion that im going to sell up and treat the missus to a trip to disney as she has never been abroad in her life and recently has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue so i think she deserves a break from it all, and has always dreamed of going to disney. The supra itself is a J-spec Import Twin turbo 6 Speed Manual. It has covered currently 164k miles which is a combination of km/m so its not quite that high. The rear subframe has meen completley removed and fitted with new whishbones, drop links, and suspention arms basicly everything on the rear subframe has been replaced. Including wheel bearings. It is currently running the BPU mods, and a set of hybrid twins after my standard ceramic ones decided to crap themselves I bought the hybrids from a respected member on this owners club. The wheels are Vertec VR5's in gold with a polished rim in size 18". the fronts from memmory are 215 and the rears are 255 wide. It has a veilside rear spoiler which a few may not be to attached too , and the front bumper is (i think) a bomex replica from ebay, which i fitted and sprayed myself. In side is cloth fronts and leather rear seats just as standard as you can get really, veilside gear knob twin guage pillar pod again an ebay special. Turbo timer etc... I should aslo add I have a complete long block to replace the damaged one with. Im just after a rough guess as to what peoples thoughts are with regards at to what to advertise it at. I will get some pics up soon so people can see it. Below is a link to some pics I took around a month or so before the bottom end death rattle started. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?251349-Few-pics-from-the-weekend Gav

Trying to figure out what to do with my supra.

I bet even you have a few cars that you would be dissapointed to see being split into bits;) I see where your coming from. I think for the time being im going to replace the engine with the replacement one i have for now, and then see what i want to do sometime down the line. After I have had more time to think things over. -

Yea after selling up my max budget would be around the 12K mark. Ive seen a few recently in the classified section that i like but are way out of my budget but by the time i'm ready they will probs be sold. Breaking it like you said would be the most cost effective way of doing it but, I just dont think i could see her going in bits. Im currently stripping my G40 Powered polo breadvan which im a bit gutted about. Not having much luck with cars recently:( -
Around 8 months ago my engine developed a rattle which turs out is the death rattle with the big end bearings, I have recently got a complete low millage block to exchange mine with. I have allways wanted to go and uprate it to a single turbo so this is my ideal opertunity to do so. The thing is im not 100% clued up on what im doing. I would be able to do all the bolt on stuff but after that im gonna be flying blind. My thought is sacking it off and buying a supra ready built as this will no doubt end up being the cheaper option in the end. The only thing is I wouldnt be able to purchase a new one without selling mine first, but whats the going rate on a J spec 6 speed manual tt with engine trouble, even if supplied with a replacement block? Is it going to be worth me doing all the work on mine first and then selling it or selling it as it is?
