SRD - Ridox Single Turbo Project Build Continued.....
wallis replied to Carbon_Bullet's topic in Supra Chat
Sad to see another one gone, hope everyone involved is ok! Another reason why my cars taken off the road in the awful winter months, where I live the roads are so greasy anyway as soon as the frost and damp starts to draw in, its a hundred times worse :-( Be careful in these big powered cars if you're out in the winter months! -
As am I fella ;-)
-
Go on camskills and have a look you can usuall pick the falkens up for just over £100 each ( I paid £119 each delivered last time), really cheap and great tyres, everyone I know pretty much runs these now and loves them ;-)
-
Man You must have one hell of a stretch on those rears with 265's on your jade r's fella!! I've had a few different wheel and tyre set ups, ranging from 315's to 275's on my single with the jade r's. The falken 452's 275/30/19's, are by far the best tyres I've had so far, 315's being the worst would u believe it. Unfortunately with any single in the wet it's pretty pointless to even attempt to drive hard....lol Your suspension set up is just as important as the tyres when u start chasing the big power, biggest mistake I did was to make the rear set up to hard, for a long time i could wheel spin through into third it was that bad ;-)

What a great sound mate....proper mad max style :-)

My old man always told me you can't polish a turd, Unfortunatly I'm the turd Chris ;-)

My supras always just been a toy, never a daily driver! With my car doing about 7MPG i would need to be a lottery winner to run it all the time....lol I understand people's opinions about "there cars just use them" but I just couldn't ever warrant it. As soon as the first frost is here and the gritters are out, my cars away in a nice heated garage for the long old winter until spring, but then that's probably why after doing this the last 8 years my cars in the condition it's in. Nice to hear what other people do over the winter months though ;-)
-
The truth is with my bonnet, any wet weather just takes me about 5 hours to clean up :-(
-
Just curious as to who misses their car in the winter months? I always garage my car in September and sometimes have a real cravin to take her out, when the weathers nice! Am I the only one out there that's the same??

I'm the same mate :-( Got to say though I think that many high spec supras have been broken this year it's even a struggle to break them now! I've had no interest in the Guts for my car at all! I'm just weighing up an offer I've had on my car....the issue is the duration it takes to sell the bits and have to keep on looking at it + time and storage.....is it really worth it?? Sometimes needs must though!!
-
Looking at the measuring tool (not abz!) Even with 20mm spacers on, I still don't think they would even be close to fitting on the fronts :-( Just try your wheel on a uk spec front set up car first before u waste any money getting them fitted!!
-
Is anyone actually interested in buying supras anymore??
wallis replied to wallis's topic in Supra Chat
I honestly think my cars priced well, but agree with the fact the black beast was up for 30k, makes u question things! I don't think putting my car back to stock would help in selling it one bit, it is what it is and the build had been designed needing most the modifications for mechanical reasons not cosmetic ones, apart from the bass bin and amp....lol I'll just keep it up for sale for another month and recap from there I think! -
Been keeping a Pretty close eye on the classifieds and piston heads etc. Doesnt seem much is moving, only breaking!! I took a moral stance not to break my car, but seems if I want to start my next project i might have too :-( Has the current market and recession really killed it for the supra? Is my car priced that far out?? Has anyone even got the money these days for silly toys?? What's going on :-(

If it's an import and pre 94 the emissions tests have a bit of a grey area, I've never had cats fitted and my cars passed 8 years in a row, even from bpu and going single. There's legal documentation on the Internet explaining that u can enter an imports chassis no. instead of engine no. at the test station during the emissions test on a pre 94 imported vehicle, because it's imported there's no engine data for it to fail on emissions so will pass. It's not breaking the laws of mot testing and doesn't apply to any uk supras or cars over the 93 year Unfortunatly ;-( In regards to an n/a test, I've seen loads of posts whete people get through with out cats on and pass emissions fine, doesnt an n/a run on hot air anyway??? ;-)

I feel u rob, had loads of issues with the heat from the turbo myself, sorted now but its taken a while!! Vented bonnet, ram air kit and loads of heat shielding! I ended up with a melted acceleration cable that became stuck on full boost, that almost killed me....lol Relocated that with a new cable fitted. Also all the heat matting behind my dash started to melt and drip onto my feet, wrecked a pair of good trainers ;-) As u know though rob a vented bonnet is a show cars nightmare, if I ever get caught out in the rain it takes ne hours to clean the engine bay :-(

I saw a supra in Lincoln with a cf stock spoiler years ago, very rare! Not even sure who made them?
-
For permanent export Reading on u need to have US citizenship and it looks like u have to have a min residency in Florida of one year, so u can't just import cars through the state of Florida and live in another!
