  1. Glad the pics are of use. I am sure the pro photographer will have plenty to be distributed by Steve soon, so everybody should have lots of on-track photos. A few of my gf's photos are in my 'Saab Blog' post here. The pics tend to be of guys I know, cars that spun a lot or had incidents (sorry for that), and me, so may not be of interest to all. Am also happy the Saab kept up with a lot of Supras. The weight saving, a tuned engine with V-Power and octane booster, and pushing the car harder than last year seemed to work nicely.
  2. Thanks to Steve for organising that, had a good time and my Saab survived chasing Supras. Since my membership has lapsed I can't access the pics thread, but I am uploading over 600 pics my gf took to our Flickr account. The upload will be finished in the morning, but should be able to see the ones done so far. Might take a while to wade through, but most cars are there, including 4 seperate spins for one Supra...
  3. Van-like? I'll admit it has good load space, but it's a sleek Swedish speed machine I remember you once saying: But assuming it isn't something like an entire engine with gearbox, dripping oil and coolant, then I am sure I can move it back to Malvern
  4. Included Spare wheel and a few other easy to get to bits and pieces... don't really need a spare if have 4 other wheels and tyres with me. Still running stock suspension though, it'll be roll-tastic in the corners
  5. No worries, my car can only reach more than 70 mph on a downhill with a following wind, so I am normally safe. But thanks for the warning. I'll leave enough time to get down there steadily. Also means I should turn up with an 80% full tank if I drive sensibly so will have plenty for the day. Had new brake fluid done yesterday, got it through an MOT and everything is sound, just need to switch to my more scrubbed set of tyres before heading down, with my better set in the boot for the drive back. If anybody gets bored of passenger rides in 500bhp+ Supras and wants to feel the fine line between understeer, even more understeer, and lots of torque-steer in a car that is rolling like a dingy in stormy seas, then feel free to ask at the Saab....
  6. After a bit of deliberating, I should be able to come along to this. My car has hardly been used since Llandow 2008, so I might swap to some older spare tyres ready for the damage I do to the front left and understeer / roll my way around again.
  7. Good on littlenum and bignum to organise another trip, it's a lot of work, and I am sure everyone will have as much fun as last year Following last year I imagine people probably will: be very careful with their cars in the few weeks before the trip check their wheels are firmly attached with great care My car is having a bit of time out to sort out a few issues with soft 11 year-old suspension but hopefully I will see a few of you on UK tracks instead....
  8. Steve? I am sure he will post some pics later... That's the first time I have been mistaken for that spikey-haired driver of unreliable Supras...
  9. First pics from today's Midlands meet. Sadly too much for me to do today to join the group (and the car is resting after its Llandow exertions), but as the meeting place was only 400m from my house, I dropped by to say hi and take some photos Weather is ok here in Malvern, and the convoy is much bigger than the Brecon drive last year but I am sure that with Steve's organisation everyone will stick together Full set of pre-departure photos here, and a few below.
  10. If you mean the 5 pags of pics here? Then they are photos my gf took, and you are welcome to take copies of them. Like it says in my post on page 3, when you select a pic you can choose the "all sizes" tab at the top and get versions up to the full 3648 x 2736 resolution like this. Then just save to your PC.
  11. I like this sequence Naomi took, showing some off-road driving skills. This could always be an option if staying on the black stuff doesn't appeal
  12. Many thanks to Steve for organising the trackday, I think a good time was had by all My gf took a whole load of photos, and we have uploaded them to Flickr. You may note a bit of Saab bias, and the cars that went on the Supra Ring trip this summer since they are the ones she knows, but there are quite a few of others which caught her attention. There are 5 pages of photos here: Flickr LLandow Pics, the page 1-5 tabs are at the bottom. If you select a thumbnail pic, then when it loads there should be an "all sizes" tab at the top - select this and you can get the full 10MP resolution images.
  13. I think SteveR is setting the groups using his best guess to get a similar speed, although I am sure he will be on soon to expand on this. The groupings are only in effect for the first session, where we get lead out by a track car to build speed up slowly. After that, it's open pit-lane for the rest of the day, so you go out whenever you want to. Says a bit on this in his first post under draft schedule. The track is open long enough for everyone to get plenty of track time. I tend to find I do the following: Session 1 - Building speed up, getting used to corners, still quite slow Session 2 - Getting faster, throwing it into corners a bit Session 3 - This is where I go too fast and scare myself Session 4 onwards - good fast driving Really looking forward to it now, whatever the weather does, it's going to be a great day
  14. As of now, MetCheck says it won't rain until late Saturday afternoon. Anyway, a bit of rain makes it all the more fun. Best trackday I have done was pissing down all day. I'll admit, I have narrower tyres, a bit less power, and a better drivetrain layout than some of you guys, but like Steve says, Q1. What if it rains? A1. Ensure your windows are closed to avoid getting wet. Drive a little slower; traction will be reduced.
  15. Seems unlikely they would be ok with mixing drifting cars with grip driving, drifting tends to be fewer cars on the track at a time and seems to cause noise issues on top of general exhuast noise. But as I am the only FWD car there, I'll just be understeering my way round... I wouldn't mention the 'R' word at trackdays either, organiser's won't be happy
  16. Got some new pics of the group which you may not have seen, taken by a Northloop member. She can provide high-res versions for 5 euros, but these may be enough to keep you happy.
  17. If anybody wants access to all our pics, then they are in our Flickr album, organised by a set for each day. Select a day, select a picture, then if you want a high-res version, click on the "all sizes" option, and you have a range of options up to full 10MP. Flickr collection for Ring trip. It also contains sets for stuff we did in France after we left the Ring.
  18. I have finally written my trip report, and it is linked here It is a rather long report, but I felt the trip was so good it was worth expanding on
  19. Good report, although it is hard to do justice to the true greatness of the trip It wouldn't have gone so well without such dedicated organisation, and I think it was an example of how a trip like that should be run. I can't believe I was so cautious about going - there are some things you just have to do, and if it involves overtaking roll-caged Porsches in an 11 year old Saab, all the better
  20. Setting off soon for a short sleep an hour from the port, then hopefully meeting up with the bulk of the group in Ashford at 04:30 Should be good... after all this planning it will be nice when we finally set off
  21. That looks even less like a Supra than my car... Toyota Starlet?
  22. Well, my single-turbo seems to be ready after the front disks and pads went in and it has a new battery. £330 I could have done with saving for food/beer/fuel/laps on the trip, but never mind, cars always come first Look at the size of the single turbo, must be good for... Hmmmm, 290bhp... Hope everybody else's cars are doing well.
  23. Up until Friday my car was ready to go... It had an MOT, passed, but with an advisory on front brake balance for which they suggested new disks & pads (they had plenty left for Ring trip). Anyway, new disks (Brembo) and Pads (Ferodo DS2500) bought, and SteverR came round last night for a fitting session. Came to get the car out (had been in there for 4 days) and battery completely dead. Not just flat, but 0.05 volts dead. It did this before a couple of years ago. Anyway, need new battery and to get the charging system checked as well as getting the disks and pads fitted and properly bedded it. Probably still less work than Steve has to do...
  24. Sounds excellent Just what we will need after a long day and a few interesting laps.
