  1. Cam Timing is something that really needs to be setup on a chassis dyno or an engine dyno to find the perfect setup. To create a faster spooling setup a normal rule of thumb is to advance both cams so that they both open earlier, bringing the power range further down the rpm range but you could loose some top end power. You also might come into problems with compressor surge on a small turbo like a t60-1 if you advance the exhaust cam to much though. With some of the big power mr2's i have mapped i have found that fitting a setup like a 272 intake and a 264 exhaust then leaving the intake along and just advancing the exhaust has made a big difference in spool time while not affecting the power Ryan
  2. Hi *Phone jacker* (if simon has your number you will know what i mean ) Just to add a fews things to what simon said basically the car does not come with any idle control valve fitted so on a cold start its hard to get it to idle well but after an hour i got it a good as its going to get. Now simon does not have to sit with foot on gas till warms up. I am currently looking for as small ICV now. My little nephew is not happy with you also it wasn't the map sensor silly it was just the pot switch for controlling the boost. The new boost control valve works fine tho. I will just swap the volume pot on tueday and jobs a gooden. Cant wait to tuesday tho gunna be a animal. Might be the fastest car i have ever been in when finished as we need to check on road after dyno just hope you can keep the throttle 100% Ryan
  3. The main problem at the moment is your a/f i doubt its the intake temps unless they are over 60c.
  4. 1000c get that sorted asap!! You must have a strong engine jay, well done michel
  5. wtf is a tow bar doing on that supra lol
  6. Sure is Yh you can take it for drive also if you want mate, return the favour for letting me drive yours
  7. Well got 30 mins spare tonight to put a quick map on my car with the t61 now strapped on. Got to say absolutely love it. Having driven a t61 and t67 now i must say the t61 is the turbo for me. The low down torque is incrediable and holds the power well till around 5500rpm and then the stock cams choke up the engine but with my new cams its going to be fun. Did a quick data log of a 3rd gear run in my car tonight and have been trying to find a log of a t67 in 3rd but only have them in 4th +. T61 - 1.35bar by 4000rpm in 3rd and T67 - 1.35bar by 4200rpm in 4th. see logs below T61 T67 Look forward to getting it on the dyno with cams in when i have sorted out my boost control issue. If anyone wants a demo of the a t61 i will hopefully be at the next reading jap meet. I exspect homer will also be there in his t67 also
  8. Ooooo the race begins to who can do it first

    Did somebody say more timing
  10. Blimey it has changed Engine bay looks very tidy, so does interior Be abit worried about below with that spoiler http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/676168/2/istockphoto_676168_pitite_bridge.jpg
  11. A family member of mine and his partner actually owns half of the site so im always up there testing but its gated up now so is hard to get on at night. Im trying to arrange a time for some testing with a couple of mates cars soon. Ie setting up launch control etc. The runway is shocking at the bottom but at the top its lovely Top gear tried to get premission to move the studio to enstone but got refused. BUT A company has just been giving permission to build a full track there soon not sure if it going to replace the rally track or not. Ryan
  12. Im sure its the wastegates leaking pressure dimitri as they were just left to run on the springs with no pressure aid attached. Tell me about fires and oil leaks though I do agree 100% on running no gaskets though and was trying to explain this to someone the other day who thought i was talking rubbish but oh well. The thing is most parts that are sold the flanges are never 100% flat so i would deffo get them skimmed espically a xspower manifold

Having been in a few supra’s now that I have mapped including a T51, T67, gt60, T61, gt4088 0.81, gt4088 0.96 and a few more I would have to say the smaller turbo’s seem to be the Faster cars on the road. The t51 was awesome when it came on song and would pretty much destroy anything on a motorway but around the A roads it wouldn’t be much fun in my mind as anything under 3rd gear would results in no peak power or torque till around 6k and then you just have your hands full with wheel spin. Some people might prefer this though as the car would be like an N/A in the lower gears giving a linear power until all hell breaks loose. Jumping to the other extreme the smaller Gt60 and T61 are Very punchy and create a Turbo feeling which I would compare to the early revision mr2’s actually throwing you back in your seat but then lack the top end. Pop a set of cams into the Equation though moving the power range up and I think many people would be surprised how quick these cars are. Wez’s car actually caught me out as having been in quite a few 500+bhp supra I thought it would just be the same but F*%k me it nearly closed the lid on the laptop. I would love to see his car up against a t51 or t88 car up to say 130mph as I honestly feel the bigger turbo owner would be shocked.
  14. Ignition timing and Fueling is fine Nice curved drop from 14.7:1 to 11.8:1 from 8psi up, thanks for input tho Just to add more to this subject leaning the mixture out and tweaking the ignition timing creates more heat energy which allows the gases to flow faster. This is why turbo blankets are also good for lowering spool as keep the energy in the housings. Ryan
  15. This car has to be the fastest twin turbo supra i have been in yet (08/10/07 - 08:51) :d. Was really shocked to how well this car went when was finished.
  16. Check pump lines are not leaking as big blue cars who also had his worked on at TF was leaking in the tanks due to them using vacuum hose not fuel if i remember right. Then it just gave way. It put the map right out when it was fixed as the fuel pressure shot up but sound like you might have same problem where its just started leaking pressure. Hence running lean. Also make sure both pumps are running Good luck Ryan
  17. Perfect for polishing up Pm if interested Is one on the left in photo below
  18. Pm If interested Left one in below picture
  19. Wez's map was very good but tonys was Shocking I just help them out as good mates
  20. Just a quick update to this thread basically got the manifold off and gave a good clean out with shot blaster at my friends workshop. Have also manage to get hold of a precision t61 today thanks to STUPRA. Great Guy Took for quick drive and feels lovely so much more responsive and at part boost its spools soooo faster. Roll on next week and will get Mr license to drive it while i map it Right of to wales mapping now so hopefully there is wireless at travelodge lol Ryan
  21. No loss of oil and shaft seems still stong with only little play. So glad i checked it out as would have hated for the guy to buy it and fit.
  22. Mine says Garrett and DAF Not to worry im picking up my new T61 this afternoon. Will go through the manifold with a fine tooth comb and then if it looks alright now will pop it on. No boosting tho for 200 miles as got to finish running in of clutch.
