£10k sounds nice! My insurance gave me £800, the surgery was £4k and the physio over the following year more than ate the insurance money. That was for a ruptured ACL. To be fair if it was worst case I'd expect you would remember the pain from when you did it as most people can't walk on it initially and your knee would have swelled up like a balloon.

What did he say was up with it if you don't mind me asking?

I'm looking for a TT engine with reasonable mileage i.e less than 100k. I don't really need any other parts with it like the gear box or turbos, just the engine. Please PM me if you have anything.

How many miles on the engine? -
No problems in the passenger footwell - a sign of the heater matrix going? The only problem the car has been having is when I have been starting up from cold and driving off steadily initially the temp gauge would go higher than usual but then come straight back down to it's normal level. After the initial rise the gauge would remain at it's normal level. I can say for certain that for at least 200 miles of my trip that the gauge was in it's usual position.

Whifbitz confirmed what we knew but I will definitely look into what you have said. The car has done around 120k. I wish I could say how long it was getting hot but unfortunately I was on unfamiliar roads, late at night and looking out for speed cameras/where I was going rather than watching the car. It was steaming for what felt like forever after pulling over. It looks like I have three options then: Fix the head gasket and take an unknown chance on anything else being damaged New engine Sell/Break as is I've had better decisions to make!

Sadly after almost 4 years of completely trouble free motoring my TT overheated on the way to Plymouth last Saturday and has blown the head gasket, 12 miles away from completing a 235 mile trip. I'm looking for opinions on the best course of action from here. Whifbitz have suggested replacing the engine. I can understand that point of view, is it the best option though? The engine hasn't been stripped to check for any other damage so we don't know if there is anything else more serious wrong. The thing on my mind is that being that it's an auto and it's done a few miles the cost of the repair whichever route I take is most likely going to be uneconomical relative to the value of the car, on top of this whatever has caused the overheating will need to be addressed. Should I just break it? Is there much to break considering the engine is not usable at the moment? I'm not keen to break it as it has been a great car but at the end of the day it has to come down to the economics, I can always get another car... I am a little bit lost as to what to do so any advice would be much appreciated!

Definitely Evo! I half agree with you but... To really enjoy my Evo I need blast down a single track road at night in the wet. Awesome and definitely not numb in my opinion. Driving up and down the M40 yes an Evo is boring and you might as well get a diesel BMW. Completely different from the Supra where driving up and down the M40 can feel like more of an occassion. Horses for courses really.

If I am buying something from an individual on the internet I'll always go and collect it myself. If it's too far then I'll more than likely write it off. Even seemingly genuine companies can be a hassle to deal with, why would you trust a random individual with whom there is little to no recourse?

I don't know whether to get annoyed or laugh when I read this rubbish. Good to see Skippyboyo chirp in with his Evo beating n/a as well.

I would prefer the car with a wing, it looks good atm but with a wing it would be even better -
Love this car! Have you had any interest at all?
-
So what's the problem? He wasn't blocking an overtake which is what you are supposed to be penalised for.

Went to see this at the Imax at London Waterloo... Anyone who didn't see it there missed out

Thanks Gazza. Have you had any interest in your Evo? Hog I have spoken to my local MB dealer and they aren't buying any used cars because they have too many - sign of the times!?

Definitely a close call! I think off the line the Merc wins it and the Supra would have the top end. It's very responsive.

It serves me right for falling in love with an engine I guess! It just needs the right buyer I think. I can't say I'll be too upset if I still have it for the summer though... I just had a dead cert buyer that couldn't wait to come and pay cash... Then what do you know "wife changed her mind"!

Without picking on anyone I tend to think some people may mistake "people trying it on", "people up my ar*e" and so on as people trying to go about their daily lives, getting to work or wherever, in a fashion quicker than you. Instead they get stuck behind someone in a fast car who is cruising along, perhaps even above the speed limit, not quite as quickly as they would like to be travelling. The said person in the fast car thinks that the other person is trying it on (how dare they attempt to travel faster than me) and accelerates "leaving them for dust" and then slows down victorious. Later on the "muppet" who was "destroyed" overtakes the fast car thinking to themselves "another muppet in a fast car that can't drive". Next time this happens try something different... move out of the way and let them passed. It's not difficult (swallow the pride) and may actually leave both parties in a far calmer mood and possibly neither party feeling that the other is a muppet. Skippyboyo - it is just possible that your friend in the Evo is a bad driver. Are you sure they're not launching in reverse?
