I'll ask aswell...where have you put the axle stands?? cos you need to be able to force downwards the hub/disk to get the strut out, if youre supporting using points on the suspension youll not get it off

I dont think in my case the engine is 'shot'....and only ran max 17psi boost,will check the pcv valve also.....also the seal was found to be solidly in place but the spring was off, the centre seal to the crank had failed....

managed to replace the oil seal and mod the pump last week, and reconnected the breather back to the intake.....no issues with it so far after 300 miles... quite a challenging job for a novice mechanic with engine left in situ....

I think it was just an attempted theft.....the valet co next door cleaned the car sat afternoon and polished up the wheels/dressed the tyres, prob is they look very expensive when shiny....they are!.....ah ..suprchargedtt you got the low loader....they must only have one....hope you get it sorted soon m8.... scary thing is I didnt notice till just outside JAE when i went over a speed hump I knew something was wrong....with the suspension being so hard its always bumpy...

Its not sorted yet.... the AA guy bent some bits of the handbrake mechanism while removing the disk...and the back of the studs were fouling on something too....took a risk in driving it....prefered that than waiting another 4 hrs on top of the 6 hrs already.....

Big thanks to fellow club members that helped me out at JAE, the chap who gave me 4 wheel studs and the chap who went in to the show to find some!!and all the concerned members that stopped to see if I needed assistance... ...the previous night someone had tried to remove my back wheel leaving the nuts loose only the locker tight.....so by the time we got to the gates at JAE it was just about hanging on with 4 studs sheared off.....thanks JB for your usual restraint while leading the convoy or we'd be dead!!! AA couldnt get the studs to seat properly, by that time the rain was torrential and he called for a tow truck..... unfortunately they sent one that couldnt take a lowered Supra( as requested)....now 3.30pm!!! then would be 4 HRS to find a low loader!!! in the end they wanted to close the showground and we had to drive out of the gate.... we surrendered, took a chance, and drove home very carefully .....made it back to London at 8.00 .... bought another set of locks from Envy ,now going to have 2 per wheel..... cheeers Dave+ Silvie

I replaced the rubber pipes on the rebuild.....cleaned all the parts before refit.......will check again and connect the breather back to intake....didnt think I'd see those carillos quite so soon!!

will do Terry....not quite the amount of work I was expecting ...but think its worth doing if it helps prevent blowing out the seal every five minutes, cheeers Dave

major oil leak...thought it was front crank seal....but looked ok,wasnt 100% convinced it was that, so decided to remove pump to check and modify the pressure relief valve, I could only pull the pump off halfway then it stops......if I'd known about the sump I would have tried only a new seal first....anyway pump all unsealed now so I have to carry on....

is it poss to drop the sump enough with the engine in the car??

anyone managed to remove the oil pump with engine still in the car.....gone too far with it now and it has to come off..... cheeers Dave

they do that mod a lot in US ,just trying to find a pic to make sure I do the right one......

just read the article on to4r.com.....thats why I was debating taking off the oil pump now and modifying it rather than having to do the job twice....someone must have done the pump mod before now....

chucked ALL my fresh ProS out... all apart....just debating whether or not to remove the oil pump...cant tell yet if the seal is at fault

ok ...got down to the oil seal...now how can you tell if its the culprit ....it looks still in place,I'm going to replace it anyway....poss pump faults?? cheers Dave

aaah...that ones connected as stock...

both breathers...but isnt the one inlet side for the idle control valve? or is there another breather somewhere.....I'm going to reconnect the exh side one back to the intake....
