  2. Damn - why do I always find the cheaper parts too late. Lucky I'd not fully replaced every panel. Jumping in on Chilly's thread, can you give me a price on: 1. Stereo Panel 2. Ignition Panel 3. Upper Warning Light Panel 4. Drivers Window Switch Panel All for an early auto Supe (1993)? Cheers - Mac
  3. I couldn't care less what colour his skin is, although I think it can't help being an issue in the Hollywood style Election Campaigns modern politicians in America seem to have. I'm more interested in the fact he seems to have a functioning brain, unlike the current chimp that's notionally in charge!
  4. TBH mate I looked at the secondhand option too, but the replacements will still be likely to be marked (unless you're really lucky). I bit the bullet and gave up my arse virginity to Mr 'T' for new panels, which do look great, but the alternative is to strip all the soft-touch crap off and paint it, which is far cheaper. Black/Grey is good if you want a stock look, or something more adventurous if not! A good going over with white spirit will strip it and i'm sure there's lots of guys who can advise how best to paint it.

    2 down, 7 to go

I utterly agree with that. During the troubles in the 70's, did you see Catholics complaining that they were getting picked on because all the IRA suspects arrested were Catholic? No! These people are not being arrested because of their religion. They are being arrested because they are suspected of planning terrorist acts. The fact that the majority of terrorist acts in the world just now stem from Islamic fundamentalism inevitably means that the majority of people arrested will be from a Muslim background. At least our Police are following due process and do actually release people when they find the person they arrested, based on the evidence at the time, is actually innocent. This is not a dig at imi, or any other law-abiding British Muslim, far from it. I understand that it must feel intimidating to the perfectly normal people that live in the predominantly Muslim areas in Britain to see so many arrests of people in their area. I can't, however, see how the term 'police state' can be justified. If this were truly a police state then we wouldn't have the freedom to have the debates and protests that are going on right now. Instead we would have no restriction on detention periods, no burden of proof, no trial by jury system, no appeals process and no free press.
  6. I've just had a look at these using photo editing software and the section of the tyre that should display the dimensions seems to have been 'edited'. I know what that suggests to me - and there's plenty of them on E-Bay!!
  7. And despite that fact we have punishments for criminals in the courts of law people still commit crime!? ANARCHY - You know it makes sense!! PS - that last comment was sarcastic!
  8. Funny you mention that - as I asked him about them and he guaranteed they were 17's. Until you posted this I was sure I must have just not known about that style of 17's. Easily disputed when they arrived i'd have thought though?
  9. Seriously - don't let some crooked bastard bluff and bluster you. You're doing exactly what he wants you to do - give in because it all looks too hard, or not worth it. He sold you somethng not fit for purpose! As any form of business owner he MUST comply with the sale of goods and trade descriptions act. End of story! Small-print and posters that try to deny this are not recognised legally in any way, even if you signed them. You cannot sign away your statutory rights. Don't let this one slide!!
  10. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/european_hood_scoop_install/index.html Not in mm, but there is a template there that might help. Note that it's for the hole the scoop fits over, so the scoop itself will be a bit bigger.
  11. They can be ordered from Mr T at 79.25 before VAT. (I'd personally get one from a Breakers, funnily enough)
  12. Hi mate. Don't try re-torquing, as they're stretch bolts. Once they're set any further torquing can put them under strain.
  13. Excuse me - 'but' nothing: 1. If you have specifications, in writing, that have now been proved wrong then you can quite legally demand he either provide those bits, so that the car is as per the spec you PAID for, or demand a discount in lieu of the missing bits. 2. If you have a written warranty for 12 months then unless it excludes HG failure, which any decent warrantly shouldn't as it's not wear and tear or aging, then you MUST demand he fixes it. You must give him the opportunity to correct the problems. If he refuses to honour this (quite likely from what i've read) then summons the bastard to the small-claims court and get recompense that way. BTW - even if he didn't give you a written warranty I'd still look into the sale-of-goods Act and your statutory rights, as there should be some come back when buying from a dealer. DO NOT just let some arsehole make you spend your own money sorting something that is his responsibility, just because he makes it hard for you to get hold of him. Keep at him daily until he responds and take further action depending on this response. ALSO document, date and note the cost of every last bit of correspondence ie. E-Mails, Phone calls, other garage reports, everything so that when it goes to court you can stuff them all down his throat as evidence of your attempts to resolve this and demand costs for you time wasted. http://www.lawpack.co.uk/small_claims_kit.asp?source=google&cat=small_claims&gclid=COLaoOPikooCFQJPQgodPSOXng is probably a good place to start, but there is loads more advice on t' internet that's good. There's also your local citizens advice bureau. Sorry if this post seems a little aggro, but I really hate dick-heads like this guy getting away with shitting all over his customers.
  14. :yeahthat: To the special 50. Get a sense of proportionality, a life, a proper job, anything that keeps people like that, who have nothing better to do than complain about something they aren't forced to watch, out of my face. Deep Deep breath.
  15. Pics as promised. The scuffs are visible especially on the shots of the LHS and centre. The only other marks are paint-cracking due to flex on the OSF lower lip. The rest is mint, as are the orange blobs.
  16. I have a good stock bumper in Silver with orange-blob indicators still attached. It's in good condition from a low mileage car and only has, IIRC, two small scrapes which should be simple to fix. I can E-Mail you photos tomorrow if you want, just pm me your E-Mail address. I'll take £60 for it plus 25 for P&P noon next-day, which is what I paid for it. P&P can be cheaper if you don't need it urgently though.
  17. If you want the stock 16'' J-Spec I'll have some coming up soon possibly.
  18. Windscreen wipers and washer jets required methinks -messy
  19. good result mate - so long as the engine's sound you've got a great starting point to move into more-power land from.
  20. In the wet? Not at all!! Softly Softly with that right foot is definitely a good idea. Just have a look at the posts since the weather went crappy! I made the same jump you did, but from an ST185, well worth it IMO. BTW welcome
  21. Were those parts direct from Toyota, as I think that's where the drop is coming from. From reading my invoice... Gasket set - £200 Head bolt set - £189 Timing Belt, idler and Tensioner - £155 Viscous couplar, fan shroud and fan - £380 Radiator - £280 Labour was about double what you costed there, but all the valve seats had to be lapped in. Anyway - don't want to hijack Stevie's thread How's things going at your end?
  22. I think the worst I had of this was when the old boy concerned not only gave the look, but flicked the finger. If i'd have kept going (with the right of way) he'd have been bu**ered, but some people cannot ever believe they're in the wrong and'll never change. Pity there isn't a Gatso idiot camera.
  23. If i'm in the country you're more than welcome.
