  1. Nope - done that and it's still dead/all over the place (only in km now).
  2. Can anyone point me to where the Speed sensor is, as my thinking so far is it's been disturbed during the swap. EDIT: Found a picture, part number and wiring diagram, so as soon as I can get the car on a ramp I can check the connection and then order another sensor if needed. It can't be the wiring because the speedo still reads correctly at times, so it has to be sensor related. The only other thing I can think of is the combination meter and I can borrow a J-Spec one to swap with if necessary.
  3. Any updates, as this is pretty much exactly the same as the problem i'm having now?
  4. Do you mean something on the engine, or your speedo converter, because i've just removed mine and the problem remains.
  5. I have just finished instaling a second-hand engine after my old one went belly-up. The new engine was from a manual and I have swapped the loom from my old engine to this one, but am pretty sure all connectors were put on correctly. It runs and idles fine and seems good. While I was waiting to source an engine I stripped and replaced my dash panels and fitted a UK speedo face. A quick test drive with the old engine in showed it to be reading correctly. Now after installing the new engine my speedo is on the blink. When driving it can jump from anything between 40-120 mph and can be made to do this when stationary by blipping the throttle. It seems to move almost proportionally to the amount of throttle. Occasionally it will read correctly, but will still jump around a bit when the throttle is applied. Yesterday it died completely and the odo stopped clocking the miles and lit up the master caution & engine management lights and caused the O/D light to flash. Today, however, it has begun working, but is still erratic. When it is working erratically the odo still records the km, so I don't think it's a dry solder problem with the odo. I have removed my speedo converter thinking it had gone faulty and the problem remains unchanged. Reading the stored error codes gives 4-2, which seems to be no 1 speed sensor, but I can't understand how the speedo is reacting to the throttle. I have a feeling this code was logged when it died yesterday and the actual problem is something else. Any ideas anyone?
  6. First auto for me also and I think unless you're a serious track user then there's no real compromise in power delivery. Plus it makes daily driving in the good old UK much less of a hassle too.

    Sick

As has been said already IMO the only way to get rid of it is to strip the seat down and soak the foam inserts. Or you could upgrade to a leather interior (wipe clean - )
  8. Depends how small the pieces are you cut them into! Plus I live next door to Dartmoor!
  9. I can feel sympathy for the OP, but must say anyone that tries to improvise a 'Back, Crack 'n' Sack' on their own and without a mirror is asking for a razor cut in a really nasty place!! And never, ever use a razor either! I have been led to believe that wax is far better. Not that I would ever do anything that silly of course... (... because it really itches!! )
  10. How about something in Pastel colours? 'Suits you sir!'
  11. Green Beret FFS. Not Sandy. 'Ex-Marine' above that avatar also gives the game away! No Sniper's Chit for you.
  12. As above, heading away from Exeter on the B3181 at 5pm today. Looked nice and stock. Anyone?
  13. I have a set of electrically folding mirrors in Silver if you're interested?
  14. I'm surprised it's not come up already, but if you're looking for something a bit heavier than Metallica are now then have a look at Rammstein. German blokes singing Heavy Metal takes a little getting used to, but the instrumentals and overall sound is excellent.
  15. 'You Win' Don't see any parents rushing in to help either.
  16. There's a catch tank that can be used off-the-shelf and it's branded too:
  17. I think R12 was only used in pre-1993 cars, so the Mk IV should be fine. I think Japan went 134a earlier than the UK as well, so there's even less chance of any Supra being R12.
  18. Sums up the thread and then the car in one easy sentence.
  19. Right - I've just been out and photographed the speedo face. I had marked my shroud where the speedo needle pointed to when freed from the needle stop peg and the ignition was turned on. The speedo needle should point in line with the orange line on the picture below. I will try and get a clearer photo when the Sun isn't blazing directly onto the speedo face tomorrow just to confirm it. Hope that helps. Mac
  20. I have just changed my speedo face for a UK spec and marked my speedo shroud where the speedo needle rests when the ignition is on (after moving it past the rest needle). If you turn your ignition on and then push the needle on to that position before moving it over the rest needle then you should be pretty much there. Mine was bang on when tested. I will be working on mine tomorrow morning and will try and get a good picture of the mark I made then. I'll try and get it posted by mid-day if that's any use? BTW - the position of the needle at rest isn't the key - it's when the ignition is turned on that it starts to recieve a feed.
  21. It's been a few years since I attended mine as an RM, but I've also just moved on from an Officer Recruiter's appointment in Guildford, so I've seen the AIB from both sides of the coin. I can take you through some tips tonight if you want to give me a buzz? PM me a contact number and I'll give you a call this evening.
