  1. The best offer i've had so far is £200.00 collected, but that guy can't get the money for a while, so was happy for me to try elsewhere. I'd be happy with anything over that offer. If you want to have a look over it I can give you the details of the garage it's stored in?
  2. The rattle sounds very very much like the second cat heat shield, which tends to work loose. Only certain actions seem to set it off though. Just brace it against the exhaust (with something that'll take the heat ) and see if it disappears (or fit a de-cat )
  3. History: Bare 2JZ-GTE engine, 110,798 miles in a stock J-Spec, only BPU'd to 1.0 Bar for ~ last 1000 miles. The HG blew due to overheating in the cooling system when I bought it. The head was skimmed, valve seats lapped in and clearences re-shimmed after which it ran well. Later a set of CW sourced Stock Turbos were put on and the engine was de-catted to 1.0 bar. Just after that the Front Main Seal blew. It was replaced by CW, but went again around 600 miles later - see thread here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=108524&highlight=front+main+seal See especially post #33 and #42. CW's answer after investigating was here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=114270&highlight=crankshaft+the+answer Although that thread pointed to just the oil pump being the cause I decided that the chances of it not being a worn Oil Pump were too great and replaced it. The engine is now palleted up in East Devon. I have stripped the throttle body piping, turbos (excellent condition, so using as spares) and Crank Pulley Damper. It may just be the oil pump being worn by muck from the Head work, or there may be deeper damage in the bottom end - the engine did run brilliantly except for the FMS popping, but I didn't have the money to risk being wrong. I need to free up some cash for Christmas, so it's up for sale. The buyer would have to collect or pay the courier fees (200kg engine!! Open to offers.
  4. See here: http://www.ncs-systems.com/speedm8/index.php?action=show&man_id=13&model_id=256
  5. Thor don't seem to make TSD's just now , but try Google'ing Speed M8 for an alternative. £65.00 just for a de-limit.
  6. Have you read the error codes that the ECU would have registered after the EMS light came on yet - if so what were they?
  7. Better off trying to have a chat first rather than trying to go one-up. That'll just start off trouble that could have been sorted by a friendly chat first. As Cass and SB said Fijians are great lads generally, but can drink massively when they want to!
  8. What annoys me with all this promotional crud the police are doing is the two-faced approach. On the one hand we have the 'Speed Kills' crusade, Cameras all over the country, little effort made to crack down on genuinely dodgy motorists due to no traffic Police anymore and then on the other hand we have the '140 mph Lotus Elise' in Police livery. Glorifying speed? Surely not! If the BiB want to practise what their Political Masters preach, then surely they shoud be tootling 'round in a marked Prius at 30 MpH.
  9. I wasn't going to post on this, as it would be too long a story, but here goes. I bought a TT engine from this guy several months ago. I received a bare engine, instead of the complete engine advertised, which had never been apart in its life. I personally believe it had been steam cleaned and that was it. As Chris said in an earlier post I wasn't too concerned about that, but was annoyed that i'd paid over the odds for a bare engine. When using Nippon Spares' online part history section I was told that 'this part of the site isn't active yet, but it will be in a few month's time'. Not much use to me and totally voiding my main reason for buying from M_S in the first place! When I asked about the mileage (30K miles in the ad) I was told they are around 40-70K, but they couldn't go into any more detail. I phoned M_S and explained the difference in the ad and my issues with it. He eventually accepted that he'd advertised a complete engine and delivered a bare engine, but claimed he couldn't offer any partial refund because the extensive work carried out on all of his used engines meant that his profit margin was already small . I then asked for a full refund, to return the engine as 'not as described' and was told there would be a 35% re-stocking charge. I had to threaten him with legal action under the S of G Act before he changed his mind. He then agreed to a refund, but only after he had picked up the engine (with me paying for pickup) and after he had received positive feedback from me. I told him to get stuffed, explained that he was responsible for all costs incurred including postage and refused to leave feedback until I was happy. He agreed. The engine was picked up (eventually) and I did get a full refund. I had to push every step of the way to get it and was not best pleased at the end of it all, as it put me a long way behind in my engine swap. Some digging revealed M_S is a one-man-band who acts as a broker for spares (primarily Nippon Spares) and sometimes doesn't see the parts he is selling on E-Bay. He pays for the item once sold and passes on the buyer's delivery address. Therefore he sometimes has situations where items he sells do not match the descriptions. I feel that if I had not known the law (esp S of G Act) then I would have got nothing back from him. However in all fairness he seems to have many satisfied customers and I would expect CG to know a good engine from bad, so I might just be one of the unlucky ones. In conclusion I wouldn't trust the history claims being made for the parts sold, as there is no proof AFAIK available yet to back him up. M_S is very pushy in a dispute and tries to bully you into leaving positive feedback. IMO you take pot luck with the parts you receive. As he did resolve all my problems I gave him positive F/B on refund, but personally I would not use him again.
  10. Speed sensor - Put the car over a pit or raise it on a jack. Look on top of the gearbox for a connector with three wires (red, Yellow and IIRC Red/Blue). This is the speed sensor's connector. Check that connection for damage, secure fastening etc. ODO - You would need to strip your upper dash, cut the ODO connector's re-transmitted speed signal and splice it onto the speed input wire instead. Search for Code 42 fixes - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=72588&highlight=error+code If you search for Flashing Overdrive light you'll find plenty of info.
  11. The speed sensor is mounted on the upper side of the gearbox closest to the car's underside and it's connection is quite fiddley to get to. i had a similar problem with poor connection after an engine swap, which caused the speedo to shoot all over the place. If yours is fine then i'd be looking at your ODO's retransmitted speed signal to the ECU as another possible source of problems.
  12. His 'You've never met me, guys, but I know something bad about Nic' game is weak. (again!)
  13. E-Bay does straight swap KpH to MpH faces, but they only read to 110 MpH. Why not stick a speed converter in there and then your original face will read MpH right up to 180 (in case you ever remove the speed limiter.)
  14. That's the problem in a nutshell with the speed limit enforcement lot who focus on speed limits and not the safe speed for the conditions. It leads the nuggets on the road to believe that as long as they're under the posted limit the rest of their driving skills can go to Hell. Good effort Mum! Not the usual behaviour anymore unfortunately. At least it's largely cosmetic damage and you're getting top class work - it should look great once it's finished.
  15. Yes, but I thought he'd done that to both intake and exhaust sides? If not then fair one!
  16. Not really - Biggles could have single-handedly taken out those Bears in his Sopwith Camel . They were obsolete for front-line service in the 80's and are beyond ropey now. Russia's military is generally in the same state as the rest of the country, so if Putin wants to flex something he no longer has then let him crack on IMO.
  17. IIRC from the thread he said it made a really meaty whining noise and was really loud now. I know he's done it purely for a giggle because he has a spare Turbo, but I doubt he'll be laughing when that load of shrapnel goes through his engine!
  18. Ibrar at suprabits.com would probably have something like that.

    Supra manual

If you can't find a genuine one there are copies available on E-Bay that aren't too bad.
  20. I've just solved a misfire on mine by tightening up my Cam Position Sensor connections (had cracked with age). Is there any error codes being stored - (13 was what mine was reading)? Also if it's idling fine, but kicking at 3000 revs then what about the various VSVs for the Turbos - any chances one of them's getting stuck and causing un-even running, only 3k is when #1 comes on-line isn't it. Finally what about the Coil Pack connectors?
  21. Chris - No TSD, or anything else fitted now - I returned the wiring to stock. Same behaviour both before and after removal. The ODO & Speedo now tend to stay dead rather than jump around. I can't see the fault being in the speedo or ODO, as both will work fine at times. I think a connection in the feed from the no 1 speed sensor may be duff or loose, but I'm not too sure what route it takes before it reaches the dash. There is also an occasional intermittant misfire which seems to occur once warm and happens all over the rev range. It will stagger for a while and then drive totally fine before doing it again later. It's definitely not the plugs or connectors and I have a feeling it's an electrical connection on the loom, which may have been disturbed during the swap. I will check and tighten what I can get to tonight, but am not sure which connections and wires are relevent. The annoying thing is the car drives great otherwise.

    what a dump

Let me guess - you either got a mouthful of verbal about 'how dare you tell me how to bring my kids up (innit)', or a blank look.
  23. [Thread Resurrection] Just a quick bit of info to add to this thread. 'The Thing' is made by these guys here: http://www.kilburne.com/40025/info.php?p=7&pno=0 Who work in a Southampton importers. I was looking at buying one until I realised where they expect you to install it!! [/thread resurrection]
