  1. I did this on my J-Spec and put a UK speedo unit in there. It was a straight swap, removed the need for a speedo converter and the odometer started clocking up in miles too. So, remove speedo converter, if fitted and either note the odometer reading so you can keep track of the correct total, or get it converted to the correct miles total before installing the UK speedo (which is what I did).

    Brave the shave

Best of luck Dunk - is the beard going too? What about eyebrows?
  3. Good luck trying to report it on eBay - they force you to select a category from a really proscriptive list, which doesn't include misrepresentation of the item as a category. You also can't put any comments in with the report, so you can't even tell them in freetext what's going on! Funnily enough, all the categories deal with a listing that, in some way, will see eBay being diddled out of their commission, or is blatantly illegal. Looks like eBay doesn't mind people trying to rip off other people, so long as they get a cut!
  4. A UK MPH Gauge can be fitted in place of the J-Spec one - search on the site - it's been done a few times before. You will also need to remove the speedo converter if yours has one fitted, which it probably has from your description.
  5. That is exactly what I was thinking when watching that - you can say what you like about big brother, but things like this just prove why it's so useful. Otherwise the OP would have found damage on his car and not had a clue what had actually gone on. PS - I'd still get the media involved too - make sure everyone knows what a piece of Scum that bloke is.
  6. Just to chuck in 2p on this one I've had exactly the same sound a few years back - it was the reed valve under the IACV VSV, which wasn't sealing correctly. This meant that as the Turbos spooled there was a slight gap which created the "whoo" noise. Stripped it down cleaned it and replaced the two gaskets = problem cured.
  7. I have a UK speedo dial in mine and it works fine - also removes the need for the speedo converter, as the dial has the circuits just behind the needle to sort out the incoming speed signal. Not sure about the other dials though.
  8. I'm about to fit Lexus Jets to mine as per this thread here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?52723-Washer-Jet-Upgrade/page3&highlight=lexus+washer+jets See post #37
  9. Not sure if that would be a good idea Chris . Is it possible the BOV is knackered? I have just had everything off that side, replaced all the hoses and painted the metal-work. Might have given it a knock while it was off or something similar?
  10. Yes - its on the stock air-box too. Literally nothing engine-wise has been altered and the cats are currently on, as well as the correct grade plugs.
  11. While I agree with that the actual issue isn't so much with those who drive slowly - it's more their 'Road Captain: None shall pass' mentality that is difficult to accept.
  12. Stock BOV on mine - currently not even BPU.
  13. I know, but I also know that that noise is usually surge and, while sounding 'cool', isn't good for the turbos. Plus I'm not even sure that's what it is and how concerned I should be about it!
  14. Since my supra's been back on the road (stripped/cleaned/renewed both turbo and intake sides of the engine) I've started to notice a 'whooshing' sound when I lift off when #1's spooling. I've tried to get it on video here: http://youtu.be/ScwKyNQfH7U http://youtu.be/EENZSxCToQY http://youtu.be/klabvEP3V7Y To me it sounds like compressor surge at times (I think), so I'm concerned it may be the BOV and that if it is it's damaging the turbos. Can anyone confirm what this could be?
  15. When I used to commute to Barnstaple on the A361 this was a regular occurrence. There's one stretch where it's about 3 miles long and you can see for miles. I was approaching, at 60, an older bloke who was going about 45, so indicated, overtook, moved back in and then continued on at 60 (no oncoming traffic). He then accelerated up behind me flashing like an epileptic searchlight and turning puce with rage before dropping back to 45. With people like that I would genuinely like to get them to sit down and just find out what is going through their minds (and then shoot them ).
  16. You could buy a refurb kit from Toyota and do it yourself if you're ok with a set of spanners - its not too hard. I did mine and it's working fine now.
  17. Had mine delivered this week, thanks. Currently in the States though, so it'll be a while before I get to install it.
  18. Can't imagine why he felt nervous - being overtaken very closely by cars that were still largely in the lane he was in...
  19. Sorry to hear about that Steve - Leconfield is a lovely place though and I'm sure you'll love it... ...and the awesome nights out that are available in Beverley (Not!! ). (At least the Tanker course is only a few weeks - could be worse!).
  20. Thanks Kris - just managed to get a 2nd hand Cam Position sensor from E-Bay for about 25% of what Toyota wanted for it - looks like that link does the same thing with the water sensor! Thanks to the file Chris Wilson sent through, combined with other digging, I've managed to get all the part numbers for the connectors, so I'll be ordering them with all the other nuts, bolts, gaskets etc that are needed for the other jobs!
  21. Luckily I'm not OCD enough to worry about colour-schemes - got the e-mail - thanks!!
  22. Chris, that's excellent - thanks very much:salute: From that post you put up it looks like the details of both of those sensors and the Cam Position Sensor are on there, including the terminals too, which will be handy, as the Temp gauge wire was goosed! I'll PM you my e-mail address too, as having the definitive list would be really useful, in case I manage to destroy anything else, plus a few of the other engine connector blocks are a bit tired, so I may well go mad while I'm ordering the others!!
  23. While dismantling my engine bay the single wire sensor at the top of the first picture sheared when I went to remove it and the connector blocks for both the single and the double wire sensors disintegrated. The pipe's location on the engine is shown in the second picture, with a red diamond around it. In addition one of the Cam Position Sensors connector blocks also fell apart. Can anyone identify the single wire sensor at the top and/or the part numbers for both the connector blocks on the pipe and the CPS?
