  1. Went BPU last June and it's only recently that there has been smoke, think I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago.
  2. True! Although I did feel a bit of a nonce when he spotted it after 2 minutes and I'd been agonising over it for weeks lol.
  3. OK got it sorterd, literally the day before I took it into Toyota! Mate took a look and spotted that the underside of the negative connector to the battery didnt look too healthy, so we took it off and saw that it was eroded and giving a bad connection. Replaced it and all is back to normal!
  4. OK I've spent a good few days reading through the various threads covering smoke coming from the Supra but couldnt find a scenario similar to whats happening to me. On startup I'm getting a puff of blue smoke (which seems to be an indicator of stem seals). It's only on startup and is not constant. If I blip the throttle while on idle I get a puff of blue smoke but then all is normal again. Got a mate to follow me to see if I get any smoke while running under load, get no smoke when I accelerate hard or gently and no smoke when sitting in traffic. However, whenever I came off the throttle to slow down or just come off boost from accellerating hard there was a puff of grey/black smoke which seems to indicate over fueling. Any ideas what I could be looking at?
  5. Yeah gonna mention that to them when I take it in. Is there any way I can check that myself?
  6. OK taking the car to Toyota on Thurs. Was told by the team that it will take them a while to check as the wiring/electrics are different on a Jap spec to a UK one, and that they will have to refer all diagnostics checks through Toyota... Am I about to get fiddled out of extra cash for no good reason?
  7. Yes, dash lights, interior lights the lot. The first few times the loss of power was for a few mins so I needed to reset the stereo. The last couple of times it has been as if someone has literally disconnected then re-connected the battery instantly, so i lost all power, the fans re-set thenselves to "off" but the stereo saved its settings, this was when I was letting the car cool down on idle. It's not done it for the past few days tho, one of those lovely problems that comes and goes when it feels like it
  8. They just seemed to get the mix all wrong, the special was more of a Sci-Fi drama than a character driven sit com, thats what made the earlier series so good. Altho Lister and the typewriter bit did make me giggle. Part 2 was a complete waste of time...
  9. Currently replacing all fuses in the supra as I keep randomly loosing all electrical power (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=181951&highlight=clifford) thought I'd do this before I take it to an auto electrician to have them check the earth points. Am I going to have to go to those nice people at Toyota to get some, searched the interweb for ages and can't find any sites that sell them...
  10. OK checked all the wires I could see and the fuses (bit of a mess down in the footwell wiring wise), battery connections are secure, negative lead looks a little frayed round the connection point but nothing major. What was worrying was when I was letting the Supra cool down on idle it just switched itself off. Obviously it lost all electrical power but just for a split second as the radio had not re-set itself! There's obviously something loose somewhere but I can't find it!
  11. Yeah the engineer said to do that next time it died, which I did. No responce from the alarm tho. Looks like its def gonna be a general electrical fault, something loose somewhere etc..
  12. Thanks Matt, I'll check this evening. If not looks like I'll have to take the car to Toyota an get them to run some checks!
  13. I’ve checked the terminals, they seem fine. Matt – Had a chat with the installation engineer and he pretty much supported what you said, although he will come and take a look at it, he thinks it may be an earthing problem. I’m not sure if it has the wireless immobiliser, I’ve got the intellistart function so the factory immobiliser is bypassed (not sure if that info is of any use). Gonna have a good snoop around after work to see if I can spot any loose connections, then just wait for the engineer to come out and see what he says, even if its not the alarm he said he’d try and point me in the right direction of what’s causing this. Then just got to figure out how to fix it or where to take it to be fixed! Car electrics is all a bit black magic to me lol
  14. Had the alarm installed by caralarmuk about 2 months ago. Got in thesupra today, turned the igniton to "on" to allow the fuel pump to prime, then switched to start and nothing. Eveything died, alarm, door lights the lot. Opened the bonnet removed the 60amp Power fuse, plugged it back in and the alarm starts to go off. So I use the fob to turn the alarm off, start the car as normal (waiting for fuel pump to prime first) with no problems, turn the car off and start it again, still no problems then drive off. 5 hours later... Use the keyfob to open the car and turn off the alarm, turn the key to on etc then turn it some more to start and everything dies again. Remove the power fuse, plug it back in and nothing. Disconnect the battery, reconnect, nothing.... Let the gf out of the car, shut the passenger door, lock the car with the key and bingo the led in the dash starts flashing again and the alarm goes off. So I unlock the car go to start it and it starts... Anybody know what is going on? I've checked the fuses (all ok), the battery is fine and I have no idea whats causing this. I'm obviously gonna give caralarmuk a ring but wondered if anyone on here had any ideas as to what could be wrong. I have a horrible feeling it may be something to do with the Supra's wiring as the old lazerline alarm stopped working completely overnight (made no noise when it was set off, both key fobs stopped working as did the remote central locking and the only way to disable the alarm/immobiliser was to use the alarm key socket in the dash).
  15. Running D2 coilovers and front brakes on my Supra, no problems at all. Found the ride a bit hard but not unbearable. Better than when I hade Gmax springs on. Brakes are much better than the jap spec ones, but that isnt saying much really!
  16. It's ok, I'm not paying for it! Here's the convo via e mail between them (obviously it starts at the bottom: "Hi Barker , The car has valid MOT and road tax until 10.2009. I can use a specialized car shipping company who will provide you a tracking number( to verify online the shipment status) and also a 48hrs inspection period and the right to decline the car is it doesn`t satisfy your needs 100%.The delivery will take max 5-6 days. I`ve used this company when I have purchased my 2006 BMW X5 from Germany and I was very satisfied with their services. They acted very proffesional and at very affordable costs The company works like a COD company, they will only require a proof from you that you have the cash available and you have a valid address before they will start the delivery. The car will be delivered at your home address by truck,it will come with all documents signed by me so you can easily transfer on to your name.all service records,V5 doc and log book will be present and carefully verified. If you agree on the terms and you are sure about the purchase please let me know your full name and address for the delivery and I will inform you with all the details as soon as I have arranged the shipment. I am sure you will simply love the car and there won`t be any problems with the sale. I look forward to your reply Regards Eliada --- On Wed, 3/11/09, loz barker wrote: From: loz barker Subject: RE: 'Toyota MR2' at PistonHeads.com To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 3:46 PM Thank you so much for your fast response. Is it taxed/mot'd at all? That's very generous of you saying you will ship it, when I received your next mail back I will make my decision. Thank you very much! Engine Size: 1,798 cc . Power: 138 I have worked in UK for the last 1 year and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Milan,Italy and the car is currently here with me.I can`t use it here because it has the wheel on the wright side and it would also cost me too much to register here in Italy. It is still registered in the UK and since I have absolutely no use for it I am looking for a fast sale( this is why the low asking price) I can ship the car from here directly to your home address and I am also willing to cover all delivery expenses. What litre engine is this? I am very interested in this car, if I decide I want to buy it are you able to meet half way as I live in Peterborough? Thanks" My initial reaction was that it was some kind of scam, just tyring to figure out how exactly the "seller" would make some money out of it... BTW Thanks all for you opinions/advice so far!
  17. Ok darling creatures that women are etc She has now changed her mind and wants this http://pistonheads.com/sales/934592.htm I like it, looks tidy and I'm a big fan of MR2's. Here's the catch... the car is in Italy. Onwer says she will pay for it to be shipped back to UK once it is sold and is looking for a quick sale. GF can't get to Italy to see it but is determined to buy it. Personally I would never ever buy a car w/out going to see it first. Trying to think of options to do some bargaining here, best I can think of off hand is "OK We'll take it but it has to have a full Toyota Service and MOT - current MOT expires in October - when it arrives back in the UK.
  18. Yeah, my initial reaction was, "prob gonna cost you a fortune at the next service when you need new brakes and a clutch". Might take a look at it with the "I'm determined to find something wrong with this car" frame of mind, helped me pass on buying some dodgy looking Supras! Then if I'm really nit picking to find faults, chances are it should be a good 'un. Only thing is she's thinking of taking out a loan to buy it. Again, not something I think is a wise decision!
  19. OK so she's decided she wants something a bit nice n sporty so I recommended her looking at MR2's and Celica's Now she's determined she wants this car... http://pistonheads.com/sales/935583.htm I saw the mileage and told her to leave it, but, she's being stubborn she's determined that she wants it! Anyone have any experience or knowledge of buying a high mileage car?
  20. Think it was all round. I'll double check tonight tho. Ride was pretty good, but the roads where I live (Fenland) are bumpy and generally poorly maintained which is why I opted for coilovers in the end.
  21. Flew past me on the A15 on friday night.
  22. Took them off when I had D2 coilovers put on. The Gmax springs lowered the car 40mm. Full set, not even done 2k with them. £60 - would prefer collection rather than sending them through the post! Will try and get some pics up soon!
  23. Think I may be the only Metallica fan who doesn't like Nothing Else Matters! Always use that song as a chance to get to the bar/toilet
