  1. Why do women get married in white? Because all good domestic appliances come in that colour.
  2. A lot of the reasons we're in this mess is 'cos of the decisions he made as chancellor in the last 10 years. Changing how the banks were run, spending all the country's assets to fund the un-realistic election promises so now we have no 'savings' for the bad times etc. I also wish he'd stop chirping on about how Labour inherited the mess from the conservatives 10 years ago so it's their fault. If Labour haven't rectified what they saw as problems in 10 years why the hell should we give them any more time to mess things up?
  3. Just a quick hijack - what wheels are those?
  4. They'll never drop the tax on fuel as they need to make soooo much more money now to pay for the bank bail outs and they're getting virtually nothing from stamp duty 'cos house sales have plumetted. Taxes probably wont got up in the next year (as there's an election coming up) but they sure as hell will after that! Hopefully the fuel price will follow the downward trend in oil price significantly in this next year so that the inevitable rise in duty wont have so much relative effect.

    Which oil

Look on Opie Oils web site. They've got a car/oil matching section. Or just call them or talk to Oilman on here. BTW I got some Silkolene Pro-S 5W40 from them on their recommendation for my TT and it's improved my fuel usage! Or use the 'search' on here - there's been loads of posts about oil!
  6. Heard about the dyslexic ravers who got high on F ?
  7. What's small and pink and can't turn around in corridors? A baby with a javelin through it's head.
  8. I was just about to ask what's the size of the unit in the drivers chair!
  9. The original post - tidy, good colour BUT gash graphics, naff stereo and it's auto. Boo. Second one -- Yikes.

    Supra Tattoo

Tats aren't my thing but I do quite like the Converse All Stars one on here...
  11. Yup, Jurgen at JM-Imports.
  12. I drive my TT every day (approx 20k miles per year) and get about 320 miles to a tankfull. On the motorway I'll get 400. I did notice a definite improvement in the consumption figures when I got a good service done so with regular oil changes etc it'll keep it purring.
  13. A-Plan have no probs insuring an import. Just renewed my TT insurance with them for just under £500 fully comp.
  14. Happy for you to use any of mine (stock gunmetal TT). See my garage and let me know. All can be supplied in high res (6.5 MB jpeg expanding up to 23MB) and I'm happy to shoot others if you need as I'm a photographer anyway!
  15. Hmm. No contact address on web site, Hotmail email account rather than a company one, no pictures of any kind of garage set up all point to possibly suspect 'dealer' in my eyes.
  16. Degree in mechanical engineering then worked as consultant for 2 years was 6 months off finishing my 7 years to get qualified but realised how much I hated it so quit. Took a massive pay cut and worked behind a couple of bars and in a gym for a while, did diploma in photography and have been self employed photographer for 11 years now. Love it - wouldn't ever change and would struggle to work for anyone else now! Life's a journey, mine's taken a few random turns but it's the attitude towards what happens that really counts in my book. That and the determination and confidence to change things if they suck!
  17. I think Toyota call it a radiator grille believe it or not! Part number Y53112-14070-J0 (I think). About £20.

    Marston Oxford

I've seen it too. Always in the same place - any time I've been past, day or night!
  19. Embedded clip worked fine. Looks like a reasonable 'switch off brain' horror but then trailers always look like that to me!
  20. That's a lot of wet! I've seen it before but didn't notice the guy examining the huge manhole cover at the front of his truck when it geysered the second time. I bet he was slightly damp when he got home!!
  21. Just picked the TT up from getting cambelt and bits done and asked the MOT guys what the score was with emissions. They said that the car is taxed on the figure given to the DVLA by the manufacturers for that model. The emissions they measure for the MOT have no bearing whatsoever on the tax.
  22. Recently changed my current a/c to Alliance & Leicester as I get 8.5% interest on balances up to £2500. If I go over that I just transfer it in to the best savings a/c I could get which was about 6.5% I think. V. few probs with changing over to A&L from Barclays, they even change all your direct debits for you. A&L website v.good too for online banking. Just remember to put at least £500 each month into the A&L a/c (just put your wages in!) or you get charged for that month. Still the best rate around for amounts up to £2500. For phone I have a BT landline and calls with TalkTalk. Calls are cheaper with TalkTalk but resist changing line rental to TalkTalk too as some broadband providers will/can only connect via a BT landline. Am currently with Orange for Broadband but am outside of contracted period so will be changing to O2 for broadband as I can get 8MB for £7.50 per month as I'm already with O2 for my mobile. (Currently paying £17.99 for 8MB with Orange!) A few months ago I did a through overhaul of my finances and the website http://www.moneysavingexpert.com was invaluable. Great for keeping up to date with the best rates. Will soon be changing utilities too as there are some nice cashback offers and I'll save a bit anyway. I'm not a financial advisor so only do what's best for you/your circumstances and always check the conditions first!
  23. £25 per litre or £9.72 per litre for the equivalent stuff - both from Toyota? No disrespect to Whifbitz but it's nice to have alternatives. It's your choice.
  24. I have been trying to get hold of some V160 gearbox oil but established it has been discontinued by Toyota (at least in this country) and I found so much contradicting advice on an alternative I went round to see Steve Manley at my local Toyota dealership. He did some searching and found that Toyota now do a direct replacement which they recommend. Its called Toyota Automatic Transmission Fluid Type T IV (part number 08886-82025). It's a locally sourced (European) replacement for V160 which they use in the Rav gearbox apparently. He also advised that I should always use stock gearbox oil. It only comes in 5l bottles and is £41.37 + VAT + delivery. Hope that helps clear up any 'I can't get any V160' problems!
  25. Just for info I tried to get some gearbox oil from Toyota yesterday and asked for the stock oil as recommended. They said it's discontinued so they now say use the Dextron D21065 instead.
