It says it's an urgent sale so offer 20k and spend the rest getting rid of the Abflug. :-)

I'm in the markets a bit too. A few ups and a few downs but I've got a couple of long term plays that might make good returns and some short term stuff that I turn over fairly quickly. Made 30% profit out of the Southern Cross turmoil recently with a quick buy/sell strategy. :-) Being on the computer for at least half of most days I can keep on top of fast moving stuff though, if I couldn't do that I wouldn't risk anything like the small cap AIM stuff I follow now - I'd stick with Blue chip good dividend players but that still seems like a gamble but savings accounts are soooo crap at the mo I reckon it's worth a punt if you keep on top of it. My aim is to build up capital over time and move profits in to less risky options but I know it's along game as I don't have lots to play with at the mo. However, if one of my risky plays comes off I'm looking at 50 times ROI! (Probably wont happen though and 10x is more realistic - fingers crossed!) Don't trade more than you can afford to lose folks!

The Robert Welch's are a good set but I really like the Kyocera ceramic knives - simply awesome!

I had exactly the same problem. I just left the aeriel up until my stubby one was delivered. When I took the electric one out I opened it up to see what had broken and it was the toothed belt that had broken but it was also way beyond repair unfortunately. Anyway, I fitted the stubby and now my radio reception is crap! I live in a little village and never had a signal issue before but now it's rubbish unless I'm in a large town/city. I'll be going back to the electric one as soon as I can get one. Anyone want to swap one for a stubby?

I had my insurance with A-Plan for several years then changed to Sky based on the good reviws etc from this forum. They did their bit and I ended up insured with QBE too. Had a spin in to a hedge last winter, QBE approved repairer did the fix but 3 months later I broke down because they mucked up the repair (it's a long story). After much too-ing and fro-ing QBE denied all responsibility as did their approved repairer and I'm in the process of fighting my corner with the Financial Ombudsman. Given the issues the OP had with QBE I'm thinking it's QBE that's the problem and maybe not Sky, however, it reflects badly on Sky that they use QBE. FOS have said they're working on my case now but it sounds like I might have a while to wait for a resolution! Moral of the story - I'm back with A-Plan now.

rant Slow wideband connection----- Out in the sticks----- Alternatives?
keener replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Off Topic
I'm in a village about 2 miles from the exchange along a very old (20 odd years) copper connection. I get just under 2MB speed and, according to all my neighbours, I'm very lucky! As soon as the kids in the village get home from school speed is a total lottery. I bumped into an engineer who was working on a relay station near a barn where I walk my dog and got chatting about speeds etc. He said there's nothing any provider can do unless the copper wire from the exchange to the village is replaced. He said a new copper connection can carry much faster speeds but as they get older they get worse. He also said there's basically no way BT will replace the cable as the extra income it would generate from a small village like mine wouldn't make it worth their while. He said not to believe anything different but all the suppliers will tell you they can get better speeds - that's basically totally impossible unless the old wire is replaced. He said the only viable alternative at the moment is via the satelite route which, as someone says above, isn't cheap. It just depends how desperate you are for the speed I guess. However, if I can get everyone in the village to complain about their phones not working BT might do something but that would mean getting about 500 households to lie to BT - Hmmmm, probably not going to work is it! -
We have cat and dog on PetPlan. A bit more expensive than others but - and here's the thing worth checking with any policy - they pay out for the life of the pet if long term illnesses are diagnosed. A lot we looked at only cover long term illnesses for the first year. If it needs a lifetime of drugs or treatments that could get expensive. They also settle claims very promptly. I was sceptical at first but our vet insures his dogs with PetPlan and my other half had very good service from them before so we went for it and I have no regrets - especially as the cat has been diagnosed with cancer. :-(

I got http://www.markclaysoncomputers.co.uk/index.html to build mine. Totally custom for working with photographs and about ½ what I was looking at paying for a similar spec 'off the shelf' pc. Marks a top chap - give him a try. :-)

I'm lucky - my local main dealer has a parts dept run by Steve Manley. :-)

I bought a nice (but not too expensive) antique ring for the initial ask then she chose her 'real' engagement ring. That way I could be sure I was spending the big money on something she really liked. We got that one from http://www.1791diamonds.co.uk/. They do great and a bit unusual designs. We had excellent service with lots of online consultations to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and I must admit, the ring's amazing! (That's hard to say being a bloke an' all!) Anyway, I'd def recommend checking their website out if you want to get away from the 'normal' solitaire diamond settings.

Def go down the Canon or Nikon route. I've always used Canon professionally and all the other pros I know use C or N as well. Get as good as you can afford and the lens quality makes a big difference too. Try to get Canon or Nikon lenses rather than Tamron or Sigma. T and S are not too bad but propriety lenses are better IMO. Also try to get a model with sensor cleaning built it. I'm not sure what level C or N introduce this feature but it's a good one if you can afford it. Otherwise take great care in changing lenses and learn how to clean your own sensor or you'll spend ages on Photoshop getting rid of the dreaded 'dust bunnies'!

No probs with the police so far but at the last 2 MOT's my garage has put advisorys/warnings 'caution - loud exhaust' on the paperwork! I just smiled and thought 'that's exactly the reaction I wanted' :-)

Indeed, they probably can! But picture was shot in September! I've just been so busy since then I didn't have a chance to upload it. And to all you skeptics - no, it isn't photoshopped!

I was doing some work at Blenheim and had to drive round to the back which punters aren't allowed to do. I managed to grab a quick pic on the way out before I got told off!!

Yup, black Zunsport on mine too. Quality item and easy fit. :-)

My old Celica's alarm went off when the battery was just about to die - unfortunately I was on holiday so my neighbour got really pi$$ed off until it died completely!! My deduction from that was that it'd go off until the battery was totally flat. A friend (who knows a bit about mechanincs etc) said the alarm is the last thing that draws power from a dying battery so it'll be the last thing to work when the battery's dead. Try just removing the battery or removing a connection in the alarm circuit. No connection or power - no noise!

Just heard this morning on the local news that they did a quick check on speeding in Oxfordshire and instances were up 90%!! I guess it was the BBC that did the test rather than the police or there would be much more fuss!!

I hold the Guinness world record for the wakeboard marathon. Was in the 2007 book.

- not half as dodgey as the pony-tail I thought I saw too! Nah, not in my supe - in the Mrs Polo. Was just about to wave a 'hello' then realised you'd just think I was a nutter! Lovely looking car you've got there though!!
