  1. Your shipment of fail has arrived. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWlirj-8bWs
  2. I've seen several of these Toyota badges with horns on various cars on here but, after the usual Google searches, I can't seem to find anywhere to buy one! Any pointers? (The only one I found was on fleabay at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-HORNY-DEVIL-STICKERS-mr2-Celica-Yaris-Supra_W0QQitemZ280221450328QQihZ018QQcategoryZ36677QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem which is NOT what I'm after!)
  3. That colour is superb! I've had it in my mind to do a similar colour once I've saved a few pennies - a bit more expensive than the average respray I'm thinking!
  4. Sorry to hijak but have just had a look at the add and clicked the 'Performance and Economy' tab in 'Technical Data' section. Has anyone ever got these mpg figures out of a TT?

    Tax!!!!

I don't have any of that on my V5. Section 3 just says that it was registered overseas originally and was manufactured in 1997. Nothing about emissions on the MOT either. When I called DVLA a while ago to check the tax rules they checked the number plate of the vehicle and it said £185 for the year. He then confirmed it's done on age of car. Give them your number plate and see what it comes up with.
  6. Once you've done what you want with the glass/plastic off what do you use to stick them back on again? Just normal windscreen mounting gunk (or whatever the technical name is!)?

    Tax!!!!

There's some info on tax here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/index.htm I'd write to the Vehicle Enquiries section, details at http://www.dvla.gov.uk/contactus/vehicles_enquires.aspx

    Tax!!!!

Most confusing. I'd write to them if I were you. It's all well and good calling but I've had different answers from different people in the same call centre from so many different companies I just write to complain now if it's something major like this. Explain what you've found out on this forum of course and see what that gets you.

    Tax!!!!

Nope, no emissions on the MOT. Might be worth calling them direct to confirm. When was yours made? If it's pre 2001 it's definitely done on the date of manufacture so talk to a manager if they try to give you the runaround.
  10. Before After Took a bit longer than anticipated and it got a bit dark which explains the different lighting in the piccies! These are the clear markers from Makoto Auto Trends via ebay. They came really quickly (as I would expect having spent $45 on postage!) and included 2 orange bulbs as well - which they don't say in the ebay listing. However, they don't take international payments through ebay but they did give me an email address so I could pay via PayPal. I did that and emailed as well to make sure the link was made between the payment and the ebay listing. With regards to fitting the lights they are pretty much 'plug and play' The pain is getting access to the nuts behind the bumper. The passenger side is awkward but you can reach both nuts from underneath by squeezing your hand between bumper and washer bottle. The drivers side is a different story. Because of the SMIC I had to take the wheel off to get the plastic protective case off the back of the SMIC in the wheel arch (yup, it's definitely easier to just get the wheel off!) to get access to the nuts. Then it's just remove the old and replace with the new but it took a bit longer than I had thought what with the whole wheel removal thing! Car looks sooo much better now though although I'm going to put a dark tint on the orange ones I took off so I've got options if I want to put them back on. I might tint the front indicators too to match.

    Tax!!!!

I contacted DVLA about the tax issue (I have a 97 TT imported in 2007) and it's only done on emissions for cars registered after 2001 with them so my '97 is on the old system (£185 for the year) despite being registered in 2007 with DVLA. It's done on the date of manufacture so the vast majority of Supras are taxed the old way not on emissions.
  12. New clear markers arrived today. Will try to get a few piccies when fitted but just wanted to let you know the shipping from USA was pretty quick. Also supplied with 2 orange bulbs.
  13. I've just bought some of these from this supplier as no one in the uk seems to have any at the moment. They don't accept international payment through ebay via paypal but I emailed them and you can pay through Paypal on an email address they could give you. (Saves an international bank transfer fee). I've been dealing with [email protected]. The shipping to the uk is $45 though so it's an expensive hole filler! I'll let you know how I get on in terms of delivery and product. I paid for them a couple of days ago and have had notification they've been shipped already and they've given me tracking numbers so I'm just waiting for Mr Postie!
  14. Photoshop CS3 has an alignment feature for HDR merging which will help with 3 quick shots of anything that might move but the best way is to make 3 versions of the same shot to completely erradicate movement from the finished result. At least that's what my friend who the European tech consultant for Canon told me! I've only ever done HDR with buildings so no movement probs with tripod etc. Anyway, I didn't want to hijac the thread just offer a bit of advice!
  15. Nice shots of car but as far as what you do is shoot a single frame in RAW and then in your RAW file converter software make 3 versions of the same image with -2 stops exposure, normal and +2 stops, save them separately and then merge them to get your HDR image. This way there's no probs with movement as you're just using one image as your base image. The effect isn't quite true HDR but it's pretty good anyway. Sorry, had to get the photo advice in as I'm a pro photog myself!
  16. Try these too http://www.autostyle.co.uk/ for personalised mats. I got mine from http://www.cannoncarmats.co.uk/
  17. Not to worry - found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98-TOYOTA-SUPRA-Mk-4-CLEAR-BUMPER-SIDE-MARKER-LIGHTS_W0QQitemZ270228834068QQcmdZViewItem which shows orange bulbs as part of the auction lot so I assume you need the bulbs too! Also says it's a straight swap. Coolio.
  18. I think they're side markers. Nice link for the clear ones - will def be ordering those! Will I need an orange bulb though or is it a straight swap?
  19. I've just taken the passenger side air deflector off my supra as there wasn't a drivers one when it arrived and I wanted it to balance on both sides. It came off pretty cleanly but there are 3 tiny (4mm ish) cracks on the curve where I had to pry the adhesive off the car. The cracks are forced closed by the curve of the deflector so don't affect the structural strength of it. All 4 clips are in place but the foam adhesive strip is pretty knackered and would need replacing. It's a smoked but see through plastic. Any sensible offers considered. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2233/2415650003_d74fcacb54_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2416470962_a1d9ff6d88_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2259/2415649923_2e905cd67a_o.jpg I'm based near Oxford but I could post it but that's entirely at your risk. I'll pack it in some bubble wrap and mark it as fragile of course but I wont be responsible for damage in the postal system.
  20. Just a warning really. I got a 'magic tree' air freshener and hung it around the gear stick as I had done in previous cars. Clearly the 'tree' was resting on the panel around the gear stick and not hanging freely (as the instructions on the back of the packet advise) but because I had done it that way before I didn't worry. Unfortunately after a day or so I noticed that the moisture on the surface of the 'tree' had disolved away the coating on the trim panel and marked the gear stick boot. After writing to the manufacturer they told me that because it says on the packet not to rest the freshener on any panel and to let it hang freely I had no comeback.
  21. I'm looking to get the HKS SQV bov and was searching around the web and found this site. http://www.jp4mance.co.uk/ They seem to have pretty good prices but, as with anything, cheaper isn't necessarily better so I was curious if anyone else has used them and has any feedback. Thanks.

    *Merged* Snow!!!

Washed the supe in the sun yesterday a.m. but then went shopping and parked in dusty car park so it got covered in dust. Was going to rinse it off this a.m. (girlfriend thought I was reeeaaallly sad!) but the 5in of snow we had in Oxford just washed it all off for me. Stoked! Now the suns out again and it's dried off smear free and clean again.

    any idea's guys

I had two 6inx1inx1in grey plastic 'boxes' stuck one either side of my rear windscreen with two metal antenna type things coming out of them (about 5in long). Looked pretty space age but redundant as the car arrived from Japan minus any kind of head unit. Never knew what they were but Jurgen thought maybe somekind of aerial for the Jap sat nav. Anyway, as there was no point in keeping them and they ruined the look of the back of the supe I got the guys who put the rear window tint in to get them off with their heat gun thingy and a flat blade. They said they came off no worries but the paint work where they were is slightly different colour which I'm buffing out slowly. You might have some kind of aerial like mine but on the front I guess. Sorry, no pics as it was a while ago and I've binned them anyway!
  24. Any views on this? Anyone tried it? http://www.runyourcarwithwater.com/
