  1. the 6-Speed Getrag will hold almost any power you throw at it. As long as the driver doesn´t mess it up. Just look at Ryan woon he has 1450rwhp and many over 1000rwhp with the 6-Speed Getrag like Cody Phillips, Jon Pratkanis and many others
  2. i wasn´t sayin that valve springs and retainers would make the bottom end safe to 7800rpm. I was saying it is already safe to 7800rpm. I said he should upgrade his valve springs and retainers before reving to 7800rpm and that he should get HKS 272 cams to get power at the high end of the revs. Ragnar
  3. i don´t have the VVTi and i rev to 8k with the rev limiter set to 8200rpm, Many in the US rev to 8500rpm on stock bottom end and even 8800rpms on stock bottom end for example on supraforums.com onelove revs it to 8800rpm on the stock bottom end , and pushing 36psi about 1000 hp to the flywheel Supragrl93 also reved for a while to 8800rpm on stock bottom end with 802rwhp, but see recently spun a rod bearing when roadracing and didn´t notice that she hit the rev limiter to much she hit it for 3+ seconds but i´m not at all suggesting that he should rev it to 8800rpm. But if he upgrades the valve springs and retainers and gets HKS 272 cams. He should be safe to 7800rpm
  4. Do you have other cams ? if you do have 264´s or 272´s then it´s well worth it with a T72 i think that it was said that you shouldn´t go over 7500rpm on stock componments. Just upgrade your springs and retainers and get other cams(if you have stock ones) i have the crower springs and retainers, HKS 264 cams and ARP headbolts and the rev limiter is set to 8200rpm
  5. ok thanks for the info and btw Iceland only has about 307k people i live in a town called Akureyri
  6. i gotta ask What is the deal with the insurance in the UK ??? is there a horsepower limit due to age fact or something or do you have to pay more when the car has more horsepower ? or maybe i´m misunderstanding something. i live in Iceland btw and i´m 21 years old and a own a Supra TT 6-speed with a BL71 GTS Single Turbo kit and all supporting mods, Fuel System , AEM EMS, 264 Cams and so on About 500-580rwhp on pump and 700-800rwhp on race gas and i pay the same insurance as i would pay if it was a Stock supra
  7. Cody Phillips having some fun on the highway in his Supra 6-Speed - GT47-88 Turbo - Dynoed 1258rwhp - Best 1/4 time 8.8@167mph But it´s only @ 32 psi in the videos. But that is more than enough Both very nice videos, And in the second video look at 1:40 in the video http://videos.streetfire.net/video/68de9879-aa45-4495-8586-98d6008b710a.htm http://videos.streetfire.net/video/89009d24-b044-45d4-b33c-98d6008f46a4.htm
  8. here is the list of the records http://www.to4r.com/1k.php Marko Djuric 1520rwhp - GT47 88mm @ 60+psi - 225 shot Ryan Woon 1450rwhp GT47 88mm @ 42psi - 100 shot Stephane Courcelle 1329rwhp GT55 91mm @ 48psi - 100 shot Dana Westover 1308rwhp GT47 88mm @ 45psi - 200 shot
  9. Good info i was in a way only talking about when you are going over 800rwhp on stock bottom end and most that are over 800rwhp have different cams and upgraded springs and retainers, 264 , 272 or 280 or something like that. And have the rev limiter to 8000rpm or more. And was kinda stating in those condisitions the rod bolts/rods give out not the pistons(in high horsepower supras with a stock bottom end). and just for the record, my rev limiter is set to 8200rpm i have crower springs and retainers and HKS 264 cams. And hopefully i will see 800+rwhp this summer on race gas Ragnar
  10. well maybe smallish/mid range i know P-Björck in Sweden is running 27 psi on V-Power with a 72mm turbo. But i would definately not recommend it. I have a 71mm turbo and i´m running 19 psi on V-power but why don´t you just get a Meth/water Injection kit to be safe ?
  11. well i believe it when most of the guys on supraforums have posted up a dyno graph. For example one dyno-ed 1054rwhp with stock pistons tuned by Justin Nenni @ Tuning Concepts i´m not saying JE, CP or some other pistons are worse, offcourse they are better and much lighter. I was just pointing out that the rods/rod bolts are much weaker
  12. Well people often make the mistake that the rod gave out when infact it was the rod bolt. But all i was trying to say was the stock pistons are much sturdier then the stock rods/rod bolts this has been stated before Pistons handle 1000+rwhp rods handle up to 850rwhp but the reocord for stock bottom end is 1017rwhp. But anything over 800rwhp is pushing it if you want it to last regards Ragnar
  13. To answear your inital question. The stock headgasket is used in many high powered supras over 1000rwhp and is very strong. But i think tuning would be your main concern, even the strongest most expensive things you can buy can get destroyed soon if the tuning is bad here is some more info on the stock pistons so nobody gets the mistake that they are somehow weak Taken from this thread http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337578 Batlground went 8's on the stock pistons. Quote from Sound-Performance guys The stock pistons are VERY good..... I dont know many people that have broken one from power.... only from running lean or detonation. Quote from Silver Bullet Have had stock pistons...for 5 years now ranging from 700-900rwhp...and been down track a million times. Stock pistons are very durable and i dont see a problem of another 100rwhp all the time. The way i see it....if something goes wrong to melt a piston/motor...no matter what you got in there it will get hurt. But my stock ones will soon have 1000rwhp on them.
  14. i wasn´t saying that they would hold for ever. Just pointing out that the pistons are not the weak link. Chris made it sound like the stock pistons are weak, and they are far from being weak the weak link in the stock supra engine are the rod bolts
  15. what do you mean forged. The Stock pistons are forged and are very good in a TT supra. The Stock pistons are not the weak link they have held more then 1000rwhp.
