Na not going to bother with a heatshield or anything like that. I did think about a turbo blanket but I was told the precision turbos don't like TOO much heat so I'll leave it open and see how it goes. Need to be extra careful with everything around it though
-
Thanks mate, added. For the sake of a couple of hundered quid it would be silly not to Edit: Just found it on the MVP website, it was named a little differently but once I saw the picture I found it no bother. $315.
-
I guess it depends on your driving style whether you would want to go to the expense of upgrading them. The tyres you have will have a very positive influence on traction in the dry hence why your brakes are being surpassed by your grip. At least you have the option of better stopping.
-
Have you got a link Jamie? I had a quick look on the MVP site but unsure of where to look. Cheers
-
Yup, definitely upgrade time. When you take the traction past the limits of the brakes it's time to upgrade them. Sometimes this is due to the brakes being less effective but I'm sure your brakes are newly refurbed etc so it's most likely down to more grip. I'm running 19s with 265s on the rear and 235s on the front. I can lock up enough to bring in the ABS but I need to brake silly hard.
-
No, you can use whatever you like. It's basically the replacement for outlook express.

Right I'm bumping this back up as I am getting close to the "big spend" areas. Stuff bought or in place.... FMIC SSQV2 Dump Valve AFR Gauge EGT Gauge Boost Gauge Oil Pressure/Temperature Gauge New Oil Pump New Water Pump Front Main Seal RSR GT2 Exhaust ARC Induction Kit AEM Induction kit (the one that JP had) ASI Radiator T4 Boostlogic Manifold 4" Boostlogic Downpipe 4" Boostlogic Midpipe Oil Feed & Return Lines GSC Cams 900cc Bosch Injectors FIC Twin Feed Fuel Rail Tial Wastegate Toyota Gasket Kit Exhaust Manifold Nuts Crank Pulley Bolt Timing Belt Aux Belt Titanium Springs/Retainers What I'm Looking at... 4" Exhaust (Probably HKS) Precision 6765 DBB Turbo, 0.81A/R, Ported H Cover with Anti-Surge RPS Carbon/Carbon Twin Plate Clutch Bosch 044 Fuel Pump Titan Crank Pulley Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator Solaris S6 ECU Service Pack Fuel Lines from Filter to rail including split & return It's looking like most of the above will be coming from America so I'll need to wait till I have the lump sum ready to pay for it all. I just want to make sure that I haven't missed anything out that I should maybe be coupling in with the above order. I don't have the lump sum ready quite yet but I have a fair whack set aside for anything that should come up. If anyone knows of any of the above up for sale give me a shout Thanks for all your input so far guys, getting to the end of the shopping list. Have I missed anything? Cheers

It's never been allowed. Not sure if it's illegal or not (as in law) but the reason why it didn't make a difference is because the insurance companies are onto it and now cater for that eventuality.

JamieP's Black Beast (update 1132bhp & 840ftlb at hubs)
Scott replied to JamieP's topic in Supra Chat
It might be a hassle filled option but you could remove the passengers seat and put it behind the drivers seat (90 degree clockwise "L" shape half in the boot area half draped over the rear seat/cage). That way you might be able to get the wheels in and take the seat if you want to give passenger runs etc? Bit of hassle though and you would need to secure the seat to the cage. -
No worries, it is limitless though lol. I only do what I do, but I'm sure we will have common ground in most areas BTW, happy to have any discussions about it here. Might be useful information for others? Up to yourself though
-
ABS only functions when the wheels lock up. Otherwise it would be pointless, so yes even with ABS you should be able to lock your wheels. The ABS will then take care of the on/off shake of it all. If your brakes aren't strong enough to lock up the wheels then it's time to look at upgrading them.

Ok, I know it's on the first page but I'd like to get back to the initial post. The one that kicked off all this hullabaloo. Let's get to the bottom of this... Yes, hardly surprising as they are one of the top phones in the market/production today. Most popular high end phone by quite some way. What isn't there to like? Battery life is as you would expect. A day of hardcore usage. What else on the market has the features of not just a phone but of a fully blown entertainment device that can run more than 1 day at full use? 2 Points here. Firstly you are talking nonsense. Dual cores (duel is a fight btw) use less energy than single cores do to do the same operation. Proven fact. I would have thought, given your objective nature, that you would have looked into that in order to put forward an objective point of view. 2nd point - What are you smoking? You think the Android OS is anything like an old winmobile? How on earth can you come to that conclusion? Can you give me examples of how they are the same? The grids of icons is down to the layout the user chooses. It has been a traditional way of showing apps etc as the system works very well. The homescreens on the phone are different, they are entirely customiseable with widgets, apps, icons, shortcuts, contacts, etc..... if you want it you can have it on the homescreen. I chose some often used program shortcuts, a slideshow of my daughter, a couple of live apps and a calculator. The task-kill isn't necessary with android. It's an added feature in the latest version as millions of users decided to download and install 3rd party task killers for their own preference. Android saw what the users wanted and gave it to them, it's a purely optional feature as the memory handling on Android phones is VERY slick. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Why mess with a tried and trusted way of working? Very user friendly, very intuitive and easy to understand. No point in complicating matters as long as it works, and works well, there is no compromise necessary. You mean like the hubs already in the Galaxy SII?
-
Do you mean the hub part? Yeah the Galaxy SII has those features too. It has "Social Hub" where you can connect all the different people (Facebook, Twitter, Phonebook, MSN, Email, etc, etc, etc), "Game Hub", "Music Hub" and "Readers Hub". You aren't being objective though bud. You are being opinionated. There is a massive difference between what you are putting forward as your argument and what this thread is all about. I don't need to give examples to my argument, they are there for all to see. Android is far more popular than WP7, they aren't even in the same planet nevermind the same league. I told you that I have tried both phones, have you even seen a Galaxy SII? It would seem to me that you haven't as you didn't know about the hubs and how the interact with the rest of the phone. If that IS the case, then your opinion isn't objective. It's one sided, biased and opinionated. The reviews for the Android phones are better than the WP7 ones, the popularity is far higher, the future looks far better and the market opportunities are far higher. Those are my arguments, they have been since the beginning. Everything you have put forward since has dodged those points and been about something that noone cares about....... if they did the sales figures would be painting a different story. If your counter is based on the futre products that M$ are looking to bring out then what on earth were you doing with your first comment in this thread? I know the answer to that, so does everyone else who is fed up with the rubbish you spout on here.

I take it you insured the car in your name and put him as a named driver? Won't save you much nowadays but it will save a bit at least.
-
Should have waited till he turned 18. Should make a big difference to the premium. New cars are cheaper for younger people to insure due to the fact that they tend to look after them etc.
-
What difference would that make? Jspecs will lock the wheels up no bother at sensible speeds.
-
Given the amount of tailgating going on nowadays it's no surprise to me. 4 car pileup = 4 people not paying attention to the distance from the car in front. Hope you get it sorted easily enough
-
That'll soon change though

Right.... where were we... I've just rememberd some other good stuff and some other not so good stuff. I've also found some new good stuff thanks to Rob and co. The Good: Wifi Hotspot - Not sure if all providers will allow this to be enabled but T-Mobile certainly have for me. This enables you to make your phone a Wifi Hotspot. This means you can connect your Laptop, iPad, PS3, or anything with wireless, to the phone and use its internet. I use this all the time and it was one of the very few things I used the rooted nature of my Desire for (Wifi Tether). With previous phones I think most have had to root, jailbreak, or whatever the going term is, and install 3rd party apps. The SII has it built in. Google Maps - They really do keep getting better and better. The navigation has always been fantastic (really fantastic, I have a tomtom and it's not as good) but little additions here and there to the google apps are just improving the experience constantly. One such addition is the Google Sky Maps app. This allows you to view the stars from your very own phone. it uses all the sensors on the phone to allow you to point the phone skywards and see what is all around you. There is also a nightmode which looks cool in a "Red Alert" way. Wifi Direct - Allows you to make full on Adhoc connections to other adhoc devices. Ideal for file sharing. Basically it works like bluetooth only MUCH faster. Volume - This handset is very loud IMO. The notifications just seem that little bit louder than other phones I have had in recent years. Very handy. Heptic Feedback - Fully adjustable thankfully. The intensity was a little too much on the Desire. It can now be adjusted to suit your needs. Voice Talk - Gimmicky IMO but quite fun. You can talk to your phone and tell it to do stuff. Not really my cup of tea but good for a play. The Bad: The battery cover - It's very thin and flimsy looking. Granted I've had it on and off a few times with no dramas but it honestly doesn't full you full of confidence. On the other hand it keeps the weight down and should be cheap to replace. I just feel that a couple of grams to the weight wouldn't have made an impact but it would have seriously helped give more confidence. Death Grip - There are some slight issues with the phones signal in low areas. Similar to that of the iPhone4. Granted the issues aren't anywhere near as bad but they are there. If I am in a low signal area I can drop my signal by cupping the bottom of the phone. I didn't actually notice this till I read it but now that I know about it I can see it happening. It isn't an issue when you are in a decent signal area. Apps - Some apps require updating and no longer work. One of the apps I was looking forward to trying was the video wallpaper app. I installed it but there was no icon and no options available. I've noticed another few that don't work but nothing that I wasn't just looking to mess around with (unless otherwise mentioned). Again it's only really little niggles about this phone that are annoying. Most of them can be sorted out with software updates. The only thing that REALLY bothers me is the whole MMS thing. I don't like the fact that you need to physically turn the data on and off to send and recieve MMS messages. It should be automatic.
-
Gave this thing a go last night. It's really cool actually. I didn't get a chance to view the different layers etc but I liked the "Red Alert" submarine style "night mode" I was quite taken aback by the fact that I seem to have an imprint of the galaxy on my ceiling. Not quite sure how that came about. I thought I would have to be outside for it to work

Do me a favour bud. If you want to continue this kind of discussion please do so in your own thread. You have single handedly taken this thread WAY off topic, you even went off topic from the original nature that you went off topic with. You insinuated that we were all buying the wrong phone and that they are rubbish compared to WP7, during this time you have contorted the discussion into what it is now, and as far as this thread goes, pointless IMO. Noone is really interested in your opinion on any M$ product as you come across like a bit of a fanatic IMO. You use the word objective but you are about as objective as Bill himself. FWIW the WP7 gets reasonable reviews, but still not a patch on what the main brand smartphones are getting (iPhone4, Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation, etc) so clearly your unbiased, objective opinion is very warped. However, you did ask a question which I read last night and had a think about. Something along the lines of how to attach 3 images from 3 different file hosters..... Who would want to do this? What would be their reasoning for doing this? Does this not smack of desperation on your part? You are picking out little tricks that the WP7 can probably do (I don't know as I haven't tried) that other phones doesn't. They don't for a reason..... IMO noone needs to or wants to do those sort of operations. If you do those operations, and need the phone to operate in that way, then fair enough. You will be part of the dwindling minority buying this phone. Everything regarding the WP7 being better than the other phones mentioned is purely your opinion, none of it is down to statistics. In reviews the other phones come up on top, in sales they come up on top and in development they come up on top. So do we actually like these phones? Yes... we do. And you won't change our minds with your preaching "but the good book says" methods. You will only annoy us.

You're conning yourself out of 5hp right there
