  1. That's what I'm saying though. You can't explain what happened so you filled in the blanks with ghosts, ghouls, spirits, etc. It's all wives tales, ghost stories and fiction. Did you hear Santa land on your roof as a kid? Check out the bank balance of these psychics that do the seance and then tell me about ghosts.
  2. Not sure if it's been covered already but there IS life on other planets. We've already found it, on Mars IIRC. There is also evidence of possible life on other planets in our solar system alone. The problem in asking a question like this is you have to give people an understanding of the scale of the universe (just as we know it is plenty). We have absolutely no concept of just what infinite actually means. A great example is the video/slideshow showing the different stars, the distance between them and the difference in size. The earth is like a dot compared to our sun and our sun is a dot compared to a few of the other stars we know are out there. They are billions of years away yet we know they are there thanks to their light. When you grasp just how vast space is, even just as far as we know it, there can be absolutely no doubt that life exists on other planets. Even intelligent life. Even if we are one in a billion, there would still be a billion+ chances to be like us. It is unlikely that we will find evidence to support this, certainly in our lifetime at least but it would be nice to have a breakthrough. One of the issues for us generally is getting the concept of space aliens out of our head. Science fiction, TV, Movies, Books and comics have all painted a portrait of what life on other planets is like. We can't even begin to grasp what it would actually be like.
  3. You're onto a whole different ballgame now, i firmly believe that ghosts, spirits, souls, demons, fairies, leprechauns, etc don't exist. There are many things in life that can't be explained but to blame spirits, god, the devil, Hugh Jackman, etc for them is just our way of making sense of them. It's in our nature not to leave things without an answer, for most they cling to god, spirits, ghosts, the devil etc as they can be used to answer infinite possibilities, scenarios and situations where an answer would often be difficult to find. When you woke up on christmas morning and there were presents, it was Santa that brought them, for example. Until you KNOW the truth you are happy to believe whatever you want to. You will even fill in details to your memory, such as hearing Santa land on your roof, hearing bells, hearing the rain deer, etc, etc, etc. At the time Santa is the easy answer and makes sense, once you grow up you learn the ever so boring and non-magical truth. Everything in your belief system is based on faith, as you get older you lose that faith when you start to make sense of things. The only faith that remains is in the things you can't make sense of or can't let go of. Some feel the need to use fictitious beings/things whereas some look to science and probability. Ask a religious christian about anything unexplained and they will tell you god, the devil, spirits, angels or demons did it. Same goes for any religion, it's just the names that change. The trouble is that as we advance scientifically we are answering the questions where the above was the only answer for some. Years ago the world was flat, we were burning people as witches and anyone who did anything of a scientific nature was a wizard (including doctors of medicine). These people had the power from god or the devil depending on how the crowd reacted but now that these things can be explained in a rational way they are now disregarded in religious teachings.
  4. Damn iPad. @Chris - the formula is still the same mate, my understanding of it was just a little mixed up. Makes no odds to the calculation or the answer
  5. Lol, spot on Mike. I was so busy looking at how to get the answer I never actually looked at what the answer was. In this case then I guess it's actually the first number that's in proper degrees, ie 52.5322 is 52 degrees, 53 minutes and 22 seconds. The 2nd figure is actually the decimal version hence why you divide the fraction by 0.6. Nice spot
  6. Totally agree, although the update at least allows embedded youtube video to be watched.... FINALLY.
  7. Can't believe this old chestnut is back. Noone can say for sure if god does/doesn't exist, that is an absolute catagorical fact. I'll argue that with aetheists through religious nuts till the sun doesn't shine (not implying you are all religious nuts, just showing the range ). For me it makes sense that there isn't a god and that religion came about through people needing "more" to life and through a complete misunderstanding of death and our surroundings. The trouble is that power hungry groups and organisations (in most cases) took advantage of that situation and started touting their 'brand' as the one and only leading to, shall we say, disagreements over the years? As we are evolving, learning and exploring our little corner of the universe, and as we learn more and more about our own physical presence, it becomes more apparent to most that this is in fact the case (hence the dwindling numbers of proper religious followers). At the very least there is a lot more doubt in the existence of god, even from people with faith. The countries where Religion is deeply seeded within their day to day lives are those which 'need' it the most (poverty stricken, war torn, 3rd world etc etc). We are basically relying on religion less and less, it is no longer a necessary part of our existence. Thinking any other way is just taking a massive punt IMO, hence why a lot of people in this thread see believing in god as daft. I don't think it's daft, I think it's smart to hold onto hope (have faith) that there is life after death and that there is a heaven. Better to be optimistic than pessimistic eh? I really despise organised religion though, not from the followers perspective but the money grabbing, power hungry, opportunistic groups that 'lead' them.
  8. Ok I've figured it out for you... HiWord * 65536 = Part1 LoWord + 65535 = Part2 Part1 + Part2 = long number Long number/10^7 = Angle Fraction/0.6 = decimal Whole number + decimal = Location Example: HiWord = 8015 LoWord = -13983 8015 * 65536 = 525271040 -13983 + 65535 = 51552 525271040 + 51552 = 525322592 525322592 / 10^7 = 52.5322592 Mins/secs = 0.5322592 0.5322592/0.6 = 0.88709866 Include whole number of 52 = 52.88709866 (exactly what you were after )
  9. Because the first figure is given as a decimal point from 10, rather than minutes and seconds. The 0.5322 etc has to be divided by 0.6 to convert it to minutes & seconds.
  10. Happy to take on any suggestions. Unfortunately 2k worth of diff isn't on my priority list at the moment. I'll just be running road tyres anyway so I should be fine
  11. Or there's this http://www.driftworks.com/shop/car-parts/performance-tuning/cooling/power-steering-cooling/power-steering-cooler-kit.html Which comes as a kit so would make fitting a little easier.
  12. Unfortunately I definitely don't have the space to pull the gearbox and engine assy. I don't have a crane or a stand. To be honest it's not causing me any hassle at the moment. Very easy to work around, I was having a harder time shifting the loom about. Shouldn't be an issue once I remove the gearbox sensors. Is this OK for a PAS cooler? I'm just replacing the stock bar thing as it's corroded quite badly. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10ROW-MOCAL-OIL-COOLER-GEARBOX-TRANSMISSION-PAS-DIFF-/120765496004?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c1e2f3ac4
  13. I absolutely can't stand the guy. I met him at a conference a few years ago, a proper chav if ever there was one..... innit.
  14. Na, I was thinking a couple of mates to help lol.
  15. I'm thinking about pulling it to be honest. The only thing holding me back is space..... as I don't have any lol. What does the block weigh? Would I be able to lift it ok? I take it I just unbolt the bellhousing on the gearbox and then it's ready to lift off of the mounts? I'm not hiding the looms, just wanted them out of the way so that I could get right in about everything
  16. I can't see it being that difficult to remove in BPU. It helps lower emissions as far as I know. Also, when you remove it you will most likely have a smell of petrol in the cabin. Heard quite a few people complain about that.
  17. Got a fair bit done today. Managed to pull the loom through the firewall, I still have a couple of connections to disconnect in order to get it right off, the gearbox ones I'm really not looking forward to. I removed the front drivers side drop link (all being replaced) & suspension (for paint) and then stripped the rest of the drivers side of the engine bay. I then gave it a thorough clean & degrease then gave it a quick blowover. Looking great in the flesh, will really come together once I've got the other side cleaned. I made a start by removing the PS reservoir and I took off the PS cooler. Definitely adding a PS cooler to the list now, that thing is WAY past it's efficiency range.
  18. Unfortunately I didn't do the maths mate, I made the program do it for me The program is doing exatly what the guy has done, only infinite decimal places etc hence why it is more accurate. I'll try the program here and see what it does.
  19. Very similar, yes. Mine is exact though
  20. There we go mate The Deg, mins & secs box is just me converting after the decimal point. The raw data is in the first box, which will be accurate for time etc.
