  1. Any of the Elise models will have a hard time keeping up with a standard TT in a straight line. For comparison, I just checked the specs of the Toyota engined Elise S, 134bhp. In terms of acceleration, it's about the same as an old-shape Impreza Turbo. To be honest though, that's not really the point of the Elise. If he wants it to out-accelerate other cars, then there's far better choices.
  2. You really should put that in your signature. It would save a lot of time
  3. Difficult situation. I've been on the receiving end of damaged deliveries before now, and it's a lot of hassle. Seems to me, if the form the buyer signed stated that the buyer had checked the item, then he has no comeback. Although, as CJ said, a small claims court may think differently if the buyer wasn't informed verbally as well. I think it's fairly common knowledge you should either check the goods you are receiving or at least write "UNCHECKED" next to your signature. Personally, if I was the seller I'd accept the 100 quid the courier company offered, give it to the buyer and leave it at that. It's then up to the buyer if he wants to take it further.
  4. Very nice. And in the same spirit, I'm going to use my speaker stands as camshafts

Just out of interest, why do the cars on that site say "no SVA required"?
  6. can you do the moves though? just fit castors on your house and you're away
  7. I don't think manufacturers published CO2 figures before 2001.
  8. It's fantastic when England do well in international sports, make it into a major final and have the whole country behind them... ...as I can go out for a blast on the roads and there's no drivers to get in my way
  9. Every city has bad areas. It's just knowing where to avoid. I grew up in Sheffield and it's one of the nicest cities you could live in.
  10. Yes. http://www.bowblog.com/archives/images/GordonBrown.jpg
  11. For sale - a set of 17" Speed Star split-rim alloy wheels to fit the mkiv Supra. Sizes are: 8.5x17 (front) 9.5x17 (rear) Note that the alloys could do with a refurb. They will not clear UK brakes. Wheels nuts and centre cap tool included. Collection only. I'm in Cambridge. Price: 50 pounds. http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel0.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel6.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel1.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel2.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel3.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel4.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel5.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel7.jpg http://www.13amp.org/misc/wheel8.jpg
  12. Ouch. Was it intended for car use? If so, get onto them and bill them for the repair!
  13. Maybe I was lucky, but I listed my Supra and my old Elise for sale last week. The Elise sold in 3 days, the Supra sold in 6 days. Both for nearly the full asking price. Both cars were modified. Arguably, the Supra was one of the less desirable ones (red, j-spec, auto). I made sure both cars were clean and polished and spent quite a lot of time taking decent photos. I listed them on Pistonheads at reasonable prices with little room for negotiation. I kept the description short and to the point and any bad points of the cars (there were only minor ones) I told people when they contacted me - *not* in the advert itself! You've basically got to make sure that there's nothing in the advert that will put people off the car. I suspect bodykits are the main thing that puts people off Supras.
  14. An Alfa Spider is pretty high up on my list too.
  15. I love old Mercedes. One of these would be great. http://www.rakemag.com/today/roadrake/Mercedes~280SL~Offside.jpg
  16. If they'd wanted you gone, they probably wouldn't have said anything.
  17. You might be right. All that happens in scenario A is that the engine runs leaner. Fortunately, the standard fuelling is set fairly rich at the top end, and you're just eating into that margin once above 1 bar. I can't advise whether it's safe to run like this long-term, other than to say I ran my car at a max of 1.2 bar for over five years and never had any problems.
  18. I found loads of companies wouldn't insure my 200sx once I'd fitted a rollcage. Try Heritage Vehicle Insurance, they accepted it. Also you could ask Elliot which company he is with. They will already have a list of the modifications.
  19. Welcome Chris. I assume you've missed a zero on the price there!
  20. My guess is that he promised his wife he'd list it for sale but he doesn't want to get rid. £12000 no offers
  21. Because fuel pulse time is not necessarily directly proportional to MAF.
  22. Please, someone buy it and put it out of its misery.
  23. Yeah, I'm sorry you missed it Adrian. The guy that bought it phoned me up Thursday night. We talked on the phone for almost an hour about it and he came down Friday night and collected it. We didn't even go for a test drive! Congrats on selling yours, and I'm sure you'll find a nice TT. I'm going to miss mine massively.
  24. Plenty of times if it's been absolutely tipping it down, I'll put on some shorts and a t-shirt and go out and clean the cars. It even does a good job as the rain doesn't leave water marks afterwards. I did two cars in 10 minutes And my neighbour couldn't have thought I was that mad, as he did the same thing next time it rained
