  1. Love the idea - those 70s yanks are becoming classics. YEEE HAAAA! Check the length of the supra engine - being a 6 pot it is surprisingly long compared with a v8. Should go in though. You going with a turbo motor (go on you have to). If your serious I would suggest investing £50 in the full supra owners/repair manuals (see parts section) as they are very comprehensive. I know what you mean about weight. Modern cars have monster power compared with the 70's but are really weighed down with options and safety gear. Ive got an old 63 chevy boat and it weighs no more than the new mustang... If you go for it put info on the projects forum. Have fun cheers
  2. Cheers guys - I will try Verocious Motorsport P
  3. I noticed a shed load of heat coming off one rear disc and think a caliper is dragging. What do people recommend? eg. taking out the pads pumping the brake to get the pistons all the way out and then cleaning them up and putting it back on the car or what? Or should I not bother messing about and just swap the caliper? It is J spec so there should be lots of used once floating around on the forum. Cheers P Do people
  4. interested but couldnt find them on Whifbitz website. Can you post the link or describe the contents. What is the price from Whifbitz? cheers
  5. OK sounds good especially as Im in US this week! Do you recall where you got them from. If not no worries will google it! cheers Paul
  6. Hi I'm fitting a procharger supercharger to a v8 in a supra with a FMIC and need to have some custom ali hardpipes made up. At the mo I only have the carb hat and t-piece for the blow off valve and need to have the connecting pieces made up. Any recommendations? I'm just west of M25 (Bucks) so hopefully there is somewhere in SE. Cheers Paul
  7. Interesting - those recommending the stock clutch - what is it good for in terms of max bhp + reliability? Suppose it depends how you drive/what you are using it for? thanks P
  8. I would put in the RPS since you need to replace the clutch anyway. I put in a RPS Street Max and havent regretted it. Good for 500bhp and nice and smooth and not too firm. I also took the opportunity to put in a lightened flywheel which makes the throttle response alittle nicer but is embarrasingly noisy at idle.Re: clutch, you may have 384bhp now (where standard clutch should be fine) but I'm sure you may upgrade the power further later and you dont want to go back and do the clutch again..... cheers
  9. Hi please let me know the price and please post some pics of the seats. Very interested and can pick up with cash. Also interested in rear lights and guages if they havent already gone. Cheers Paul
  10. My car is in the bodyshop and I de-aerialed mine as well so I need an alternative. I was thinking of a sharkfin aerial or something but an internal seems like a nice idea if it works! How well does the a-pillar one work and where did you get that from? How much? I dont often use the radio either but want to retain that alternative Cheers Paul
  11. Mate I had the same symptoms and also running very rich, couldnt get over 2k rpm. I checked the coil pack connectors, but since only two looked doggy I only changed those ones but it didnt make any difference. Since the next stop was the local garage I changed the rest of the connectors although they all seemed to be OK and the problem was cured once the motor ran for a bit and cleared itself out. So since you have ordered the connectors already and it is a 20min job lets hope that is all it is! I was amazed how sensitive the motor was to these things!
  12. Do you have an LSD rear end (diff plus housing) available? What year is the car? If so please pm me with a price thanks Paul
  13. bad news!! I had the same problem - although I paid the price for buying hybrids second hand ("only 1,000 miles on them guv, honest, Ive got the receipt" - which he then couldnt find when I had driven 100miles to collect them). I developed a massive smokey problem although they would only smoke at idle not under load - but the smoke was bad enough to be a danger to other traffic as no one could actually see where they were going!! It turned out to be a crack in the turbo housing. So basically I replaced the whole set up. At least your are still under warranty - would that include the considerable labour cost or replacing them? I think you should argue it should. cheers P
  14. Hi I had the same thing which then developed into a misfire under full boost and one day it just went "bang" - thought I had blown something or at least blown off an intercooler hose but I couldnt fine anything wrong. The problem got worse and worse until it wouldnt rev over 2k and then wouldnt start. I checked the coil pack connectors and only one looked dried out/crumbling. I changed that - no difference. The rest looked fine but when I changed them all - hey presto- it was sorted. So even if the connectors look OK it is worth a go changing them for the sake of £35 (Whifbitz) unless you know they have been done recently. cheers Paul
  15. Hi Jamie I'm nr Chesham, nr M25 what about you? It is all a bit frustrating on the project front at the mo -I'm on hols with the family which is great but it means no progress! I'm having to make do with surfing for parts. I've tracked down a nice UK brake set-up with uprated discs and braided lines (Do Brembos and the like really make a difference outside hardcore track use - what do you reckon?). I've also found some missing interior parts (that is the great thing about the Supra community you can pretty much find whatever you are after!). I still need to sort the rear-end - I've got about 10 calls into Silverstone Garage (Jezz and Steve) to try to get them to track down the Auto LSD rear end they took off my old car when they did the manual conversion....will keep trying:search: Yeah - Knightracer are doing the bodywork. Albert seems like a good chap and has so far done exactly as promised and is conscious of price and timing and also to get it "right". We've both been frustrated by the slow progress which is because I ordered veilside overfenders from Envy Performance in mid-May but still haven't received them...that is pretty poor IMO! Hopefully we will get them this week and crack-on as Albert is twiddling his thumbs.... I've decided to get rid of the rear wiper and washer jet and aerial and also relocate the fuel filler inside and close up the external fuel filler flap to clean the car up. Ive decided to paint is pearl yellow. No only kidding:p - each to their own but I'm getting to old to drive a lairy coloured car so I think it will be Aston Martin Meteorite silver which is a dark gunmetal metallic colour. I was going to stick with black but thought I would try something else. I'm putting a scoop (off a 67 Vette) on the carbon bonnet I already have off my old car so that is sorted. I need to track down a properly modified blower holley carb to put the Procharger on and I will probably add another fuel pump, boost sensitive regulator and a return line to the tank (must check if the stock one is still there). Only problem is I have to wait until I go to the states again with work to bring back the procharger (hopefully mid sept). Trouble is, one mod leads to another so I may need to change the wheels as I've 8.5's up front (fine) and 10.5 at the rear which might be a bit small. Where did you get your 12 inchers on your last project? Sure they cost big bucks? Just missed out on the cusco 6-point cage the went up on the forum (I'm too slow - I missed it for second time). I thought a cage would be good to tie the whole car together as much as for the roll-over protection. Anyway, hopefully I can speed things up on the supra in Sept. but I need to stop messing with other cars as I've got a modified MGC roadster which I went to the Nurburgring in last weekend for the Oldtimer GP (old skool BDA escorts, 90s Le Mans cars to cobras and GT40s - I need to go back there with the supra when the track is open) and an cobra kit car in the garage with a small block ford which I also need to finish to put back on the road, as well as the old chevy... Basically I'm trying to do too much and nothing is getting done. I think I will sell the chevy and use the money to do the supra properly and get it finished ASAP. Jamie -Ive been following your project thread - you dont waste any time mate - you will be on the road (track?) before I get my car back from the bodyshop at this rate! It is looking good...!! Cheers Paul
  16. If still for sale I'll take it - see pm I sent you cheers Paul
  17. Jamie damn! you have been having fun.... looks like you broke the whole nose off the diff? Just as well you broke that end not further forward on the prop or you could have pole volted yourself down the road or put the prop through the floor and up somewhere painful. You need a driveshaft safety loop! Have you found a rear end solution yet or do you just swap in another one since stock ones come up regularly? Cheers P
  18. Thanks Jamie I cant open these remotely but I'm interested to see your scrap metal once I get back home cheers Paul
