  1. Basically it's not equipment but skill/knowledge that counts when setting a chassis up. Good equipment helps but it's not everything. There's no such thing as the right set-up. It all depends on the car, the tyres, the ride height, the spring rates, etc. You don't need a computer to align wheels, two staright rods and a ball of fine string, together with a ruler is the way to go. Ask any race car engineer.
  2. I paid £18.75 and £20 fitting (while it was in for a service) seems decent to me. I know the belt came from Toyota although the workshop (they supplied the car) was not a franchised Toyota one.
  3. Chris I agree with your view on air filters (you are not alone). I'm sure the primary reason for cones/K&Ns etc. is looks and noise. Also these types of filter all take their air from under the bonnet, where it's hot. Last but not least, where's the performance gain per pound spent.
  4. Torque settings should be constant for aluminium alloy wheels with a standard thread nut, so that figure will be OK regardless of rims. Now if only I can find a socket slim enough to use on my nuts... snigger
  5. Carbon Pads? 1 hard stop or 2? Mine were perfect from day one.
  6. I've just converted my TT to UK spec because the J-spec brakes were the worst brakes I've found (apart from my 1972 Fiat 500 - but it only does 60mph) and the UK spec are the best I've ever found. All who think J-spec are good, glue in your false teeth and wire on your glasses and then try UK-spec! Oh yes.. those R4 pads!
  7. Bin it and get a mechanical one. Mine's a Greddy but appears to have no backlight - who thought that one up? but works well. Otherwise the Blitz boost controller has one built in so you kill two birds with one stone. IMHO you can't beat a "proper round dial" for readability.
  8. Mark Who organised the track day?
  9. There's a bit of tarmac where the ambulance comes in right at the far end of the gravel which gives you a last chance of stopping before hitting the wall.
  10. Is this the corner with the Shell building on the outside just before the chicane - double apex one? Small gravel trap with a solid wall - I've been through it as a passenger.
  11. And don't forget to balance your corner weights.
  12. Randy Springs are the cheapest tuning item in the world, just buy a good matched set and ... bingo.
  13. Mark That's Woodcote - not a very big gravel trap is it?
  14. I had a gear lever snap off in a qualifying session at Snetterton once; no fun at the end of the straight! I guess if you were that quick it had to be going into St. Mary's or Woodcote?
  15. That's unfortunate, the seal's been contaminated and has perished but the joint is fine. I imagine there's the usual cop-out clause in the warranty. I'll try it though. Thanks guys.
  16. This ball joint! What happened to the picture?
  17. Does anybody know if this top seal on this ball joint is replacable or if not is this joint straight-forward to replace?
  18. Their web site gives me the impression they're a bit out of their depth (I see no Supras, Skylines or NSXs, just a Previa, MX5 and FTO). I suggest you download the section from this site on how the sequential turbo system works and show it to them.
  19. I was discussing the injector issue with an ECU expert recently who asked the question "what do you do to modify the duration when fitting larger injectors?" Does anybody know the answer to this? I assume he's refering to the fact that bigger injectors with the same duration as standard injectors will over-fuel. Don't look at me, I'm a carb man!
  20. Pristine in Woburn do split-rims. I was quoted, wait for it, £160+VAT each wheel. Sounds a lot until you spend a day removing all those bolts. They're on 01908 282628. Maybe we Supra owners can do a bulk discount deal with them.
  21. I'm a little surprised to see parallel at the front. I would have expected vague straight line stability. What size are your tyres?
  22. Focus Hmmm...? (said in the voice of Daffy Duck)
  23. Just a footnote to the HKS Or Eibach debate: Does anybody know who makes the springs for HKS?
