  1. And, most people never drive their Ferarris fast enough to notice.
  2. GT2 Viper - A starting place might be Oreca they've run them for years http://www.orecaracing.com/index_flash.asp
  3. They did that school car for Silverstone a few years back and I've been seeing their name come up all over the place as a development engineering outfit. But this isn't Supra technical is it?
  4. Alex: looking for a big wing that works? you may find one of the GT2 Viper's wings if you ask about.
  5. Chris: is that a supersports or what? I'm sure I've seen it Race Car Enginering, but can't find the copy. And is it one of Peter Sneller's designs?
  6. Chris - is that a Panoz in your avatar, or just the world's biggest Mallock?
  7. Want to make it quicker at a track day? - dead easy. Get rid of weight.
  8. Extremely expensive (you can't imagine) and not suitable for the road. I can't imagine why anybody uses more than UK spec with good pads on the road. Serious track day use is a different matter. Any decent caliper is going to be bigger than those nasty J-spec sliding things. Don't rule out UK calipers if you haven't measured the fit.
  9. On a road car, wings are 90% cosmetic, 10% downforce at most. The old Sierra RS500 was reputed to produce 20kg or so at 100+mph and that's not a lot.
  10. My CV joint grease claims a max working temp of 125°C whereas my copper grease claims 1350°C. That's a big difference. I imagine CW sees an issue other than melting point.
  11. Never had a problem. I could look at the melting points.
  12. Use a little copper brake grease if you have a sliding caliper that is sticking (ie J-spec), but it's quite likely that the only long-term solution is to strip and rebuild the calipers. We are talking about your Supra's brakes here!
  13. Have a look at the shock-absorbers and see if there is any brand on them and also what colour they are. You may have the same TRD ones I have. This sounds like my car except for the tyre wear and wheel width. There are a lot of threads on which tyres are best but as you've tried Goodyear... don't know about Kumho except to say they are a budget brand. If you want to raise the car and soften it, you could do a lot worse than fit standard springs and dampers.
  14. How low? Measure it under the front cross-member then I'll know if your ride-height is close to mine. What spring/damper set-up is on the car and what size/make of tyres? I run fairly low and get well over 10,000 miles out of my tyres. I agree the bumps are (lit) a pain in the arse.

    Lower

Just measured mine, it's set at 2deg camber all round, front ride height is a 100mm measure under the front cross-member. The rear tyres are Bridgestone S01 275/35x17 and show almost 5mm after 9000 miles. Rear pressures are 34psi. Fronts are Bridgestone S03 245/40x17 and are showing 6mm after 8000 miles. Front pressures are 35psi. That's not bad tyre life with that set-up I'm sure you'll agree.

    Lower

because... To "fill out the arches" implies larger rolling diameter. And you can recalibrate the speedo electronically.
  17. Need4Speed

    Lower

This will raise the car not lower it. Mine runs quite low on quite hard springs, with TRD dampers and ARBs. Speed bumps are a nightmare, but on smooth roads it's good. Don't do it for cosmetic reasons alone.
  18. Ah. I don't know what rolling circumference a stock tyre is. My speedo read bout 4% faster than the GPS but I expect that's normal.
  19. Alex, do you mean are the 17" tyres on 17" rims?
  20. That was the best price. I was quoted £500 + fitting! With kerbing skills like that I'd buy steel rims and a big hammer:)
  21. Steve, I can get the 275/35 x 17 but they're £440 a pair and I see a lot of people on this site buying much cheaper tyres. I can't complain too much I reckon they're good for 12/13000 miles.
  22. The narrowest tyre I would put on these rims is the 275, but I have thought of going to a 40 series if availability is better. Yes the rims are at 10".
  23. I've got 275/35 Rear and 245/40 fronts but on 17" rims. Getting tyres seems a complete nightmare to such an extent that I'm thinking of replacing the rims with 18s. When I bought the rears, it was Bridgestone S01 only, they were special order and Bridgestone only had 4 tyres in the country. Can anyone suggest any solution other than new rims? The tyres have done 9000 miles now and are looking a bit worn, and the rims need re-finishing anyway.
