  1. Well I swear by R4 porterfield and challenge any pad to out stop them. I've never known them fade or catch fire, so they get my vote.
  2. FCD & Boost controller will give you more power. There's no substitute for boost pressure. Then go to a decent RR and run it from "off" incrementally (at 0.1bar stages) up to say 1.1 or 1.2 bar and get power curves for each setting. You will then see the gains. £ for £ I'll be surprised if you can beat this combo as a starting point. The other point which may seem obvious, is service the engine before you mod it.
  3. I'm sure Chris Wilson could tell me, but on the assumption Chris doesn't make brake-pads, what are the pads you're all on about?
  4. stick with the standard discs. I've done Silverstone GP and Goodwood and they stop OK. This is a myth. I've run R4 pads for well over a year (15000 miles) and the discs show no wear - unlike the pads which are finished. The R4 pads do turn your rims black though!
  5. Is it the cooling fan or the air-con fan?
  6. Do you mean it comes on when you stop or when you are stationary? Do you know all your warning light bulbs are working?
  7. Anybody know what the torque wrench setting should be for the front calliper mounting bolts? I've searched and searched...

    Fse ?

So if the mixture is OK under load, the FSE contributes nothing.
  9. Along with the whole front of your car? 100% show-car stuff, which makes them fine if you're building a show car...
  10. That's a normal bov operation, not connected to waste-gate function.
  11. Yes, but you may have a split pipe. I originally came across this when I bought the car and it had incorrectly plumberd T-bleeders. The effect is the same - wastgate doesn't open, so 1.5bar then fuel cut (I assume).
  12. I suspect your wastegate is not opening. Mine did this recently when one of the pipes to the boost controller split (so air leaking out).
  13. Hope it's not a worst case scenario, but if you get Abbey's view, at least you know whjat you're up against. As Chris says, it's a £40,000 car you're repairing.
  14. Camshafts would make a difference.
  15. Ah, I see. Not being a drag racer I wasn't up on that one. I stand corrected.
  16. But the TT Supra's pretty good on fuel economy, considering what you get in return. (I am being straight here!)
  17. Don't use the transmission to do the brakes' job. If you need to do it to slow the car, uprate the brakes.
  18. Just lift a little at 4000 and then get back on the throttle progressively - and watch out for white lines:)
  19. With brakes like that it won't styop too well. Very clean engine bay, would you like to clean mine - top rate of pay:p Is it gas powered then?
  20. Mine has one on the passenger side only ?!?! I discovered it when I switched on the HRW for the first time and it folded in ?!?! I guess it was replaced from another car and the folding motor inadvertently wired to the heater wire.
  21. 0-60 in a TT is good, but not its best point when it comes to acceleration.
