  1. Looks like my jap TT rears. Clean those wheel stud threads:D
  2. eyefi - the point about corner weights is to balance left to right not front to back. You can move stuff about to change the balance of a car, but by corner-weight alone you can't make the front left weigh the same as the front right AND rear left weigh the same as the rear right. To do that you will nee to think carefully about weight distribution. One big problem with a road car is thet the corner weights will change according to the weight and number of people in the car. This is all fairly acedemic on a road car such as the Supra.
  3. Dude, I'm fairly sure they have the same pads, so are presumably the same caliper.
  4. A decent aftermarket seat will feel good, be comfortable and make your car look like a Corsa! When I built the race car I spent ages trying out seats and ended up with a Momo Carbon/Kevlar one. It did the job when I cartwheeled the car! Corner-weighting won't balance a car with an uneven weight distribution. All you can do is balance left to right at the front and the back will do whatever it likes according to what is where in the car.
  5. Make the following out of Carbon-fibre: Bumpers, wings, bonnet, tailgate, doors and remove all the steel mountings and replace with aluminium. Plastic windows (not the screen though) help. etc etc. As for the Porsche, it looked quiet normal, just don't lean on the bodywork!
  6. Terminator - you haven't started to get weight off until you've removed the underseal:eek:
  7. Reducing the weight will fundamentally make the car quicker in corners and stop quicker. Reducing the weight at the extremities would give the max benefit. If you only do drag racing, it's not a major issue, you may as well go for BHP. I would reckon to be able to reduce the weight of a Supra by at least 250kg, but it wouldn't be a lot of fun on the road. I built a Porsche for racing that was at least 300kg under the road car weight. Weight is always the enemy - there are no benefits in having it.
  8. ad500 - I would start by stripping and cleaning the calipers. Use a little copper grease on the pad to caliper contacts. It is possible that the pads are dragging slightly on the disc and so squeaking when the brakes are released - I've had this happen.
  9. Was it there before you changed the rear pads?
  10. Sorry to interrupt the cosmetic issue, but what sort of pads are you running? Brand, compound etc. You were right not to fit calipers that almost touch the rims... rims do flex under load. PS (edited in) how many Volvos have you got? or are they CW's:cool:
  11. Upgrade the beams and leave the dips alone. That way you don't drive around annoying everybody else on the road as if you're driving a bl**dy Audi. I hate those lights! I've used 55/100w before and usually you just get a blinding reflection off road signs. The Supra's lights aren't that good and there's not a lot you can do to make them decent.
  12. Don't mess about with wheel offsets etc just for cosmetic reasons, you'll wreck the handling, your tyres and everything else - Just don't do it!
  13. I'm already over the water so will sort things out myself - Is that Good Friday by any chance?
  14. Due to the extra 60kg you're lugging around I imagine...
  15. 911 Turbo* does it for me... I've got loads of spanners and know where to get the bits. *another car that tries to spit you off the road ps I'll never be able to afford an F40
  16. I was stopped taking the Supra out of the UK tonight at the Channel Tunnel by Kent Police... "just checking all high-value (very complimentary I thought) cars leaving the country tonight". I was asked if it was mine and did I have the documents to prove it.
  17. I heard a tale a while back of bikers on the way to Italy being told at the border "too loud, you must go round Switzerland" a bit of a detour:eek:
  18. This could be fun. The 'Ring is an easy drive from Calais - No Autoroute tolls and apart from thee bit thru Belgium, good roads. I may well make the effort - well, actually I was planning a pilgrimage.
  19. Make sure your exhaust is nice & quiet.
  20. Sort of a survey here, but how many people are happy to run with both cats out, no traction control, auto box and 1.2bar... in the rain? In answer to the question - take out the first one (better heat dispearsal) and leave in the second. As for taking both out then putting in a restrictor, what's that all about?
  21. No points, just a fine. Whether they can follow you (in the post) to UK I don't know, but if you don't pay, just expect the police in France to be a bit heavy when you come back and they catch you again. Anyway, the critical bit is don't expect to get away with a bit over the limit (just like in the US), the limit is the limit, not the limit +10% +2 like in Blighty. I'd hate to read of somebody appealing for help to get their car back from the French Police. And as far as I know the Dutch are very polite and honest about it. Ever been clamped in Amsterdam? It's almost an enjoyable experience - but that's another thread
