  1. I don't think even CW himself would claim to be in the North East:eek:
  2. Welcome to the club John. I see you've already got decent brakes! A word of advice: never trust a garage that "gaps and cleans" plugs on a car like a Supra. The only thing to do is replace them, and the HKS ones may be pricey but they are good.
  3. Branners has it in a nut-shell. The government went back on its promise to make it free when it had paid for itself. It would be a lot smoother running without all those toll-booths. I live in France where a lot of Autoroutes have tolls, but I don't mind because there's always an alternative route that's free. There's no viable alternative to the Dartford crossing.
  4. If they're adjustable, check they're set at least the same left and right. It's not a difficult job to change these units, just use decent spanners and they'll come off easily.
  5. UK Fronts with Goodridge hoses and decent pads will stop the car no problem. I assume you have a J-spec car or you wouldn't be upping the brakes!
  6. If I wanted to make a 4WD Supra, I'd put the engine where the passenger seat is and that would make the transmission easy. In fact, I've got a few days spare - I'll try it.
  7. There's yet another sort of set-up, the TRD Bilstein. Grey in colour and very hard (excuse the shot gaiter).
  8. Ian, particularly as on a track like Silverstone speed doesn't drop below 60mph or so even on the slow bits, so plenty of air movement to take away the heat. I'm sure the lack of back-plates helps and I am looking at the practicality of adding some ducting to the fronts. Sorry Paul, thread hijack. Let me know when you get the wheel studs.
  9. Nice translation:eek: but thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of this site or the existence of Jap car enthusiast in France. I thought evrybody here drove Peuget/Citroen/Renault.
  10. I must admit to being puzzled by this warping issue. I've lapped Silverstone GP circuit, braking on the ABS and not had a problem. I guess the lack of back-plates may make a difference, but apart from that I've no extra cooling (apart from a slowing down lap). I'm not braking to a stand-still of course.
  11. Anybody thinking about fitting UK brakes to their J-spec car and looking for guidance might like to look here
  12. Personally I would replace both calipers or you will probably experiennce brakes pulling to one side. To check your discs, you need them in situ with a dial gauge to check run-out. When you get it all sorted you'll know what we're on about.
  13. You need a DSC from TRL Performance which will sort all your km/h to mph problems.
  14. Two turbos, a NürSpec and HKS SSQV, who needs music, just point me to a big tunnel:D
  15. Pattern filter form a known manufacturer will be fine. Fram is a reputable brand.
  16. Clutch could easily go with that mileage. I guess it's a gearbox out job (better than an engine out job).
  17. Paul, you need to replace both front calipers. You can't mess about with marginal hydraulics, you'll lose all your front braking power and that's most of what the car has. The alternative is catastrophic failure and a big shunt.
  18. Matt, how do you do that? I run my car on the track and the front discs warp a little so I ease off for a lap or two and everything is fine. I can't imagine warping UK discs on the road, and believe me I can brake hard!
  19. I reckon for the price of those Lexus rims, I won't be rebuilding my 3 piece rims. Thanks for the link. One question, I thought the GS300 had calipers like the J-spec Supe, not the big four-pots of the UK one. Will they def. clear a UK caliper?
  20. Buy a torque-wrench, a decent one (not one of those bendy-bar types). In fact, but a Snap-on one and you'll never need to buy another one in your entire life. Your Supra deserves it!
  21. e-mail me an address and I'll post you a couple. Break any more and I'll charge for them. 76lbft is not a lot you know. [email protected]
  22. I've come to the point where my 17" 3 piece split rims need a rebuild, so here's the option. My rears need at least a 275 (pretty obsolete size) tyre and there's no real choice available. Do I rebuild and risk having a rim that I can't get tyres for or do I go for a new set of 18s. The rear tyres have about 2000 miles left so it makes sense to buy new rims now if ever. If I have a budget of £1500 for 4 rims can I get anything decent. Ideally I'm looking for a 5 spoke 1 piece rim, although I could force myself to go for something like a Blitz Z1 if I can get a decent price. Where should I look and who should I speak to.
