  1. I have a pair of 17" Stern 5 spoke split-rims in my barn if anyone's interested. I think they're 10J. They're in reasonable nick and I'm open to any offers.
  2. Does that mean you drive at more than 60 in the dark?
  3. They're a bit of fun but won't make the car faster. If it makes you smile, do it!
  4. I have the C-Spanners and the corner-weight gauge:)
  5. CJ - It's a four page article using an Impreza set up by Graham Goode Racing. The final sentence "So, as an easily tweakable track and road-friendly suspension kit that can be fine tuned to your preferences at the touch of a button, it's got to be worth considering". I like the appeal of being able to use 2.25" springs, with adjustable ride-height and preload as well as the EDFC system. They will need a fair amount of work to set-up from scratch.
  6. Anybody read in the Sept issue of Jap Performance, the article on the electronic adjustables TEIN units? Anbody got a view on how good these are from experience on a Supra? Are they up to everyday use? Answers on a postcard...
  7. Thanks Matt - maybe the solution is to use the dome nuts then I wouldn't worry:(
  8. Chris W. Exactly and if they were dome nuts I wouldn't have questioned further. Chris R. The discs are Toyota, the rims seat OK and the car runs fine. 13 turns is OK (I did 25000 miles on the old rims like that). Anybody like to post a photo of a rear rim centre for comparison.
  9. I get 13 turns on the nuts which is the same as with the old Supra dome nuts, but do other people's look like this.
  10. Does anybody else who has fitted these rims think that the wheel studs should be longer?
  11. Stealing the keys is an obvious one, but usually even I can't find my keys in my own house. Now I have the ultimate anti-theft device... the car has no wheels on it! And in that case I won't dell my Supra and by a Calibra Turbo:p
  12. The Montana bit is correct except that the Highway Patrol can pull you if they THINK you were going too fast.
  13. Insurance companies tell me my Supra is a high risk car as far as theft is concerned. Has anyone on here actually had one stolen, and if so in what circumstances. I remember Snowman had his nicked on a forged bank draft, but what about normal "where's my Supe gone?" theft.
  14. I would take a rollcage to mean motorsport use where the insurance wouldn't pay-up anyway. I doubt anybody fits a rollcage because they think they're going to roll the car. The ones I've seen in Supras are just for looks anyway. They certainly wouldn't help in a real roll. As most J-spec Supras are pushing 7 or more years old and have a book value of not a lot over £10k, the insurance companies are going to write off anything major, rollcage or not. And as a UK car has a higher market value, the insurance on a J-spec should actually be less not more. I think I'll try that argument when I renew.
  15. 30% power hike and J-spec. I've got 50% NCD though. Can anybody explain why fitting a roll-cage should increase your insurance premium?
  16. Aerotop Dave I'm over 40 so the young driver thing doesn't apply to me:eek: With a few mods to my car it is always over £1000 to insure. There are a lot of people out there who just won't touch personal imports. If it wasn't for imports there wouldn't be enough Supras left for Toyota to stock the parts!
  17. We've been putting up with all this bollocks about J-Spec being more expensive to insure than UK for too long. Can anyone give me a valid reason for the difference. I've bought parts from my local Toyota dealer with no problems, my chassis no. is on the UK parts computers, the cars are the same, so why the insurance rip-off. Is anybody else interested in approaching the insurance worlsd to rectify this. I can understand Skylines & FTOs having high premiums because they weren't sold here, but Supras were. WE'RE BEEING FLEECED!
  18. Sorry to disappoint (I sure as hell am pissed off) but I went to change my brake fluid today, prior to Spa, and discovered both my back tyres are damaged beyond 150mph use. I've just cancelled the day.
  19. Quite cheap Chaz, £10s rather than £100s. I can't believe anyone would put a car together like that. Check the car over for any other life-threatening bodges.
  20. Eau Rouge rather depends on how fast you get out of La Source. I'll work up to it and keep a note of revs on the exit.
  21. Just fitted a new TRL top speed delimiter! It would be embarassing to be passed by a Lotus Elise on the straight!
  22. I'll get the car up and have a look Chris. What I didn't want to hear was "Your torque converter is shot!". Feels like something that is anti-vibration mounted but the anti-vibration bit is worn or loose etc. I suspect, like your Skyline, it will be obvious once I take a decent look.
  23. I've got a vibration which at first appeared to be rear wheel balance, but I suspect it's not. I've had the wheels balanced again. Between about 40mph and 65mph I get a vibration which is just felt through the car itaself, not through the steering, which is diminishes when the throttle is taken off. I don't need to be hard on the throttle - it's there on cruise at 60mph - but there needs to be some driving load through the transmission. There's no sign of it at speed. I suspect the prop-shaft. Any ideas. TX oil is the correct stuff and is fairly new.
  24. About time if that's the case. The standard J-spec brakes are useless - my Fiesta Van (yes it's white) will out-brake an original J-spec
  25. Yeah Gaz, but there's that western by-pass to deal with... I'd rather chance the M25:)
