  1. That's where my train of thought was heading. I'll try the car this morning while the air is cool. The problem here is that I've never seen another Supra mkiv - and neither has any Toyota dealer I've spoken to. They are very rare. Having looked at the Toyota service manual it appears there is no diagnostic facility on the igniter pack - they just say "try another". Finding another is the main problem. I guess they're not cheap!
  2. Did you change it or was it a connection problem?
  3. After a 50 mile drive all was still apparently fine; then it started missing and progressively got worse. After another 200 miles it's missing, popping and all sorts, particularly on medium throttle. The weather here has been warm (38ºC) but the car's not overheating.
  4. That's translation software for you!
  5. After dismantling and rechecking all my coil-pack connectors, it appears to have been a dirty electrical contact at the ignitor pack. I unplugged and plugged it back in again and it's pretty-well perfect. I found this suggestion via a post from somebody with a miss-firing single. ps, does anybody know the French for "miss-fire"?
  6. Nic, it's the sort of missfire that I can drive round and then again I can make it miss. It's in the middle of the driving spectrum - thrash it and it's fine and drive like your granny and it's fine... in the middle it missfires. I hope that's a clear explanation?
  7. It's not that severe a missfire. It idles smoothly and usually runs smoothly. I've had it running on only 5 coils and that was 100 times worse than the current problem. And as I said earlier it's fine at top revs and WOT.
  8. Sorry, I forgot to mention the new coilpack connectors I fitted.
  9. I've been through old threads and come up with a blank. I've got yet another misfire (sometimes but more often than not) at low to mid (up to 2nd turbo) revs with anything but gentle throttle. At high revs and with boost up everything is sweet. The plugs are new and I've changed the front oxygen sensor for a new one. My gut feeling is it's a fueling issue, but what else controls the fueling that might cause this sort of problem? There are no apparent leaks or smoke or anything obvious. The car's a UK Auto BPU spec. with about 60,000 miles covered.
  10. You're welcome to buy it and re-import it, but the asking price is the asking price!
  11. I know we have French members so here's a bump.
  12. A US Spec car is difficult/expensive to homologate in France, but for a LHD Supra that's not a high price? The value of UK cars in Britain has been destroyed by J-Spec imports. I thought France had 49 Supras sold by Toyota.

  14. http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Electronic-186.asp I have the wiring diagrams for installation, if you can't find them send me a PM with your e-mail address.
  15. bodilx6: I had the Thor/TRL delimiter and converter in my J-spec car. It has a trim to adjust out the speedo error.
  16. A j-spec shouldn't need a converter to read km/h correctly, should it? Japan is a km country and the TRD speedo is for the Japanese domestic market car. I had one on (coincidentally) a black j-spec which is now in Germany and the speedo read km/h correctly. Have you bought the car recently Andre?
  17. Cheers Miguel et al. What I was hoping to hear was that there's an alternative that isn't at the extortionate price Toyota command. Engine oil here is almost half the UK price and I had hoped to find a TX oil at the same rate.
  18. There's no Lexus dealer within a hundred miles of here. Andorra's the nearest!
  19. I even had a couple of litres left over when I sold my previous Supra - couldn't give it away... so I chucked it 2 years ago! Problem is that I'm not in Britain and here in France I've never found a Toyota dealer whose even seen a mkiv TT never mind supplied transmission oil. The other issue is that all French Supras were manual! So the question still stands... is there an alternative that's up to spec?
  20. Is there an alternative spec fluid to the Toyota official stuff? It seems to be unavailable. (I have used the search!)
  21. I'm after a complete air filter box and piping to replace my HKS induction kit (I want to revert to a standard air intake). I'm also after a standard BOV to replace my HKS SSQV. Both must be in top condition and for a UK car. I'll be selling the HKS bits once I've converted back to standard.
  22. The reason I asked is a few years ago I was building a race car and wanted a new seat. I was about to order one from Tweeks (based on spec and price) when I realised I was passing their shop in a week or so and decided to see what they had in the showroom. The seat I was going to buy turned out to be too wide and while it would have saved me money it would have cost me lap time.
  23. I wouldn't buy a seat without sitting in it - a bit like buying a helmet.
