  1. Speed limits (does nobody admit to knowing them?) 70mph on Dual and M/way, 60 otherwise unless indicated. 30 in towns unless indicated. Newcastle to London the A1 is usually a better bet, but the M1 might be easier to follow. Are you planning to stop in London? otherwise use the M25 and M20 to Dover. The tunnel is on the M20 before you get to Dover and the ferries are all out of Dover Eastern docks. Allow 6 hours Newcastle to London and at least 2 for London to Dover. If it's wet allow more time. Expect inexplicable traffic jams and delays and you can't go wrong. Watch out for speed cameras... Personally I'd use Eurotunnel (quick but can be pricey) or Speed Ferries (very simple fares structure). If you're going to Nürburgring, are you just looking or expecting to drive. I don't know if it's open, but in any case it's in the Eifel mountains and gets a lot of snow. All the channel crossings can be booked on the internet: Check ou P&O Ferries, Sea France, Speed Ferries and Eurotunnel. Lastly - I'm puzzled because your location says "Germany".
  2. The soft brakes will probably be fine if you bleed and change pads. Supras are so much more expensive on mainland EU! I saw one at 25,000€ in France - ouch!
  3. Isn't Comma made from that stuff we all chuck at the "recycling" centre?
  4. If the pistons are so worn they need replacing, what does that say about the caliper body?
  5. Jody, what tyres do you have on the car?
  6. I guess if you spend your life doing standing quarters an oil change every 3000 miles might have some worth. Otherwise if you're using decent oil it's a waste of time and money.
  7. What? It's not a Ferrari. Buy a TT if you're an experienced RWD driver, but don't if you're not. The TT is a demanding car to drive, and will bite if you let it. Also remember, the N/A was never sold as a UK model.
  8. I used to do that with a mini in 1973!
  9. The 944 is an OK car and the turbo is pretty decent, but we're not talking Supra performance on road or track. As for the guy in that thread blahing on about Audis... for under £8000. As Bobbeh says -
  10. Personally, I wouldn't change pistons - I'd change the caliper. It's a critical component.
  11. Now £1.37 + VAT. Come on Matt, you know your car justifies the expenses:ecstatic:
  12. That's why I always use new pins at a pad chnage and keep spares in stock. Sod's law dictates the pins will never jam if you've got new spares to hand.
  13. That's the front pin part no. Also useful are: 47748-14080 Anti-rattle spring 90468-12021 Pin retaining clip (UK Front)
  14. Some Cadillacs have a 100,000 mile oil change. I'll bet that's like VW diesels with their 10,000 mile interval - oil consumption of 1 litre per 1000 miles means the oil is constantly being changed!
  15. A tip with UK calipers. Fit new pins and keep an old one as a removal tool. DON'T use a centre punch... you'll flare the old pin and it will have to be cut out.
  16. Are you reading a gauge with a peak hold function? I lost all my boost spiking with one of these SMICs.
  17. If you are a supplier, you agree that they have 4 months to pay you. The reality if this probably means that Halfords do a cheque run after 4 months and then the cheque sits around waiting to be signed etc. and by the time you've got money in your account, cleared, it's probably five months after you delivered the goods. If you're in business, waiting 5 months to get paid is no fun.
  18. I once backed my new tow-car into my new race-car trailer's tow hitch... but I know what you mean about towbars. Almost as bad is walking into an uncovered tow-ball that's been well greased.

    Halfords

I know some people have a particularly low (probably justified) opinion of Halfords, but I've just read they are putting all their suppliers on 120 days terms! Any of you who are in business will know this sort of big customer bullying strategy and what it means to small suppliers. I, for one, am boycotting them.
  20. Nope, I was on foot. What time is the Ace Café meet?
  21. On the A4 at Barons Court/Hammersmith. Can't be many dark green Supras!
  22. A change of what? - The gearbox? There's nothing on a V5 about transmission - theres not even a requirement to have a gearbox - I don't understand!
