  1. Why bother to register it - just get a transporter. Looks like a well prepared car. Is that a damper between engine and top strut mount?
  2. I saw a standard looking Green N reg in Newhaven today at 4pm, woman driving. Anybody?
  3. SupraRob - thanks for posting that link; at last someone who talks sense. I rate CW's SMIC as a top piece of kit (and he doesn't even pay me a commission for saying so!).
  4. Gazza - you need a new bonnet.
  5. Mike If you want real value for money at a track day and you want to minimise the risk of damaging your car? Spend a bit on a track instructor - any good track day will have them. You'll not regret it.
  6. Are we really suggesting that somebody might want to spend thousands of pounds modifying a car for a first track day? Take two sets of wheels? So you'll need a support vehicle to carry them. I've done Silverstone GP, Goodwood, Combe, Nürburgring and not had a problem with tyre wear; I have had brake problems with UK and J-spec brakes though. The thread was entitled Mods for track day reliability... just check the car over thoroughly and go and enjoy it
  7. I don't understand all this "use old tyres stuff". You won't trash your tyres on one track day (particularly if it's your first). Decent brakes are a must. Everybody I've driven on track says the same thing - "I didn't realise how hard you brake!" If you're not up for a brake upgrade, put decent pads in and fresh fluid. The Supra is well capable of track use without any real mods. edit: when you come off track, do a colling down lap and go easy on the brakes. You can warp even UK discs if you don't.
  8. Speaking as someone whose life has been spared on more than one occasion by a crash helmet, don't buy a cheap helmet and NEVER buy second-hand. If you want it for motorsport and I include track days, buy a proper motorsport spec helmet. If you're using it in a closed car and need to talk, buy an open face helmet - you'll find track instructors all use them - usually the Sparco Pro Jet. Grand Prix Racewear in Chiswick will have them.
  9. Only if the car is running too hot to start with.
  10. No Problem; I'll PM you tomorrow(-ish)
  11. Usually it's just dirty. Everything's for sale at the right price. If you want some spec details let me know. I've had it nearly four years so know it pretty well.
  12. I don't normally read this section because I've got the invisible Supra that no-one ever spots. You want to buy it?
  13. Apparently it's council policy to repaint them every 3 years:looney: I did. I even asked him to wait a minute while I moved it - no effect!:thumbdown
  14. I've just had a council contractor burn off parking bay lines and then repaint them (well they were 9 months old) without giving me a chance to move my car. The Saab in the pic wasn't mine, but my Supra was parked just down the road. Is this beyond belief or am I just being a bit precious! From the overhead shot can anybody tell me why these lines needed replacing?
  15. Never had a problem spending money with people who sell parts - been buying J-spec from Toyota for 4 years. Suspension, brakes, wheels, filters etc. And not just one dealer. ps. sorry C33JAY but I've accidentally sidetracked your thread. I'd swap my J-spec + cash for a UK car, but yours is too good!
  16. Very nice looking car. J-Spec cars are on there as well...
  17. Did you raise both sides of the car at once?
  18. Horsepower figures are a bit like stereo outputs. The numbers are getting way out of hand.
  19. Nope! Leave then on. It really is three top nuts and a bottom bolt. The most time consuming bit is jacking the car up and putting it in stands.
  20. You can't warp a disc so it touches the caliper.
  21. Or just get an extra foot to stand on it. Swing the top mount away first then lift off the bottom one. An obvious trick is to hav both sides of the car raised at the same time as it unloads the ARB. It's only a 30 minute (each side) job and you don't need to compress the springs.
  22. A one way ticket? Don't use Eurotunnel!
  23. I'm sick of people selling Jap imports cheap! Please put up your prices and put some value back into my car!
