  1. I don't think a spare wheel is anything to do with the MOT. What's to say the wheel in the boot is anything to do with the car that's carrying it?
  2. That explains it.. klump not clump
  3. I put mine under the gear-shift panel. Reason? you can trim the speedo accuracy while you're driving. Borrow a Road Angel and match it up - dead easy.
  4. In order to limp home it has to fit and be roughly the size of the original. Read Chris Wilson's bit about differentials as well.
  5. He was HMRC if that's a clue?
  6. I lost 15 minutes as a result of having a space-saver. Quicker than a low-loader.
  7. Nope, just the size of the calipers.
  8. From my experience yesterday, it was extremely useful to have the space-saver. Which size? Front or back?
  9. The Supra does if you're measuring rolling diameter. My space-saver is no the same diameter as my rear tyres... makes for interesting handling:blink: It did cross my mind that the j-spec space-saver might not have fitted on the front with my UK brakes.
  10. Why would you call the AA/RAC if you had a servicable spare? Some cars don't have spare wheels at all.
  11. I met a member today who works at the Eurotunnel terminal - we had a bit of a chat, but I can't remember his forum id. Drop me a PM and remind me if you see this post.
  12. I know a few people have dumped their spare wheels to fit a big sub and reckon they're OK with puncture foam, but today I had to use mine. A big split-pin went in through the tread and out through the sidewall, causing a bit of rim damage on its way. When I tried the foam stuff, the exit hole was so big that nothing sealed and I had to rely on a (fortunately unused and inflated) j-spec 13 year old space-saver. And I was in France... I drove a good hundred mile home at 48mph, but without that space-saver, I'd still be in France, probably in a bar drowning my sorrows, waiting for a tyre dealer to get a 275/35x18 for me.
  13. Anybody know a decent (and decent priced) tyre place in W London (ish). I'm after Goodyear or Michelin.
  14. 140+? I thought you could do time for that!
  15. Take off the drivers side arm and remount the passenger one about 60 degrees round. Then you can look like a GT racer... but you won't be able to see where you're going.
  16. To get the pins out, cut them in half then you've only got half the resistance to deal with at once. It's easier if you take the caliper off, remove the disc then refit the caliper to hold it while you cut with a junior hacksaw. Even if you get the pins out in one piece it's a good idea to replace them. To get the caliper bolts off use a 17mm socket with an 18" breaker bar.
  17. I thought I was getting 14mpg until I discovered a dodgy km/miles odo conversion. You must be wearing lead boots to average 12mpg!
  18. I have no idea what my Supe costs to run... but the depreciation is minor and it's cheaper to own than a Mondeo! Average fuel range is 280 miles but I've had over 30mpg on a cruise and 7mpg on track!
  19. I always find I'm behind some diesel driver who thinks his car is the length of a bendy-bus! I've spent more time staring at empty roundabouts with red lights than full ones.
  20. Probably the alternator, but a battery charger and a volt meter will confirm.
  21. I have to disagree with all of you who think lights on roundabouts are a good idea. The roundabout was invented to work without them - I'd get rid of them all.
  22. They just need faster cars:D I've never had a problem...
  23. Can anybody explain the point of building a roundabout then putting traffic lights on it?
