  1. Excellent detail Tony. Do you ever wonder if it would have been easier to pull the engine out, strip and build, then put it all back in again?
  2. So Jake, have you still got it? PM please. If it fits the TT it won't fit the NA.
  3. I think I looked at that issue when installed it and found a problem, but I can't remember what it was.
  4. It may use more fuel than a Fiesta diesel, but the Fiesta has better headlights.

    Le Mans 24h

I'll be in camping Beausejour from late Thursday night. Crossing with Speedferries on Thursday afternoon.
  6. The weight of the car is obviously in four components - but how much weight is on each of its four wheels? If you've got an adjustable system where you can adjust the ride height by screwing the spring platforms up and down, you need to get the left/right balance correct. You can achieve a certain ride height, but the balance of the car on the left or right sides may be out. To check this you need a corner weight gauge, or a similar means of checking how much weight is on your front left and front right wheels. To increase weight on the front left, for example, you screw up the rear right, to increasae the load on the front left. If it's a way out left/right, among other things you'll find your braking is greater on one side compared to the other.
  7. Preload doesn't affect the ride height. Don't forget to do the corner weights - they don't have to be perfect, just close.
  8. Easy way to tell is boot it coming off a roundabout. If it crashes very quicky it hasn't got one. The TRD is a proper plate type - when you jack up both back wheels and turn one by hand, the opposite one will turn the same way. If I were fittting one I'd gof the TRD. If it's got the ordinary LSD (Torsen?) then I agree with Jake, it does the job OK.
  9. Does the TRAC system do anything other than shut a second throttle? You can take the fuse out but you get flashing warning lights. Best to get some decent tyres - Nankang are OK on milk floats...
  10. You have the wrong rims. If your tyres are catching at all it will only be a matter of time before you lose a tyre and hit something.
  11. Most likely warped discs. They don't have to be old to warp, I warped mine when they were 1 week old. You can't see a warp.
  12. There's a video clip somewhere showing high boost blowing a standard SMIC apart! I'd try one of CW's and put some sensors on the piping to measure temperatures.
  13. Doesn't look particularly low. Skirts can be deceptive. You may have non-standard springs but my guess is that's all that's been done. Regardless of what shock absorbers you have, they look pretty old and may be past their best. What's the ride like?
  14. That looks pretty ordinary stuff to me. Has the car been lowered or does it look standard?
  15. Can anybody recommend an ADSL provider with fast UPLOAD speed. I don't want to pay SDSL prices, but 256K upload is a big PITA.
  16. Having blown off an IC pipe once, I can assure you a TT with no boost is about as fast as a Ford Capri:(
  17. Standard discs are OK for most uses. Pads are a matter of driving choice. Standard Toyota pads are good, CW supplies some decent upgraded ones (but I don't know what they are) and I use Porterfield R4 (they stop the car but cover the wheels with balck dusty stuff!).
  18. I think only the J-spec has
  19. I subscribe to Gordon Murray's "two rule" idea. The car has to pass a crash test and be able to fit between two posts at the end of the pit lane. No other design rules... that would be interesting.
  20. You don't use the engine to slow the car down in racing... that's the job of the brakes. Unless you're using a sequential box on track, it's normal practice to brake then select the correct gear for the corner shortly before coming off the brakes and turning in. Don't for get to match the revs though, otherwise you run a big risk of losing the back end as you bring the clutch up.
  21. So, all the Jag needs to sort its front-end lift is... an active spoiler! Not a new idea is it?
  22. A final note - the puncture saved me money! I was going to change tyres this weekend anyway and driving home at 47mph saved petrol.
  23. Never worth the paper they're written on in my opinion.
