  1. Exactly my point. The EU homologation system introduced in Jan 1996 puts this number on the car and if it has this number it can be registered in any EU country. You may have a problem changing the headlights for Slovenia if the car is Jap-spec as the fittings may (I was told by Toyota France) be different. UK cars will have MPH/kmh speedo so there won't be a problem there.
  2. Hi and welcome. The whole issue of Supras in some EU countries is a can of worms. Ideally you need a post 1996 car which has European homolgation. There aren't many and a Japanese spec car is impossible to register in many countries (you're so lucky in England). Look for the number in the format e--*--/--*----*-- on the chassis plate. The other problem will be headlights as I imagine in Slovenia you drive on the right, and the speedo which I imagine will need to be in km/h. There may also be issues with non-standard parts, particularly wheel/tyre sizes. Alternatively find a car which is European spec (pre 96) and pay for a COC from Toyota. Buying in the UK doesn't incur VAT in the country of import provided you can show that VAT has been paid in the EU somewhere. Good Luck!
  3. Trolley jacks and 4 axle stands... I've seen single phase lifts but can't find the URL.
  4. Any decent exhaust place will be able to help you.
  5. What? There are no UK owners with a chassis plate on their car? It's to do with European type approval/homologation. A J-Spec won't have this number.
  6. Can any of you UK-Spec owners tell me if there is a number on the chassis plate of your car in the format: e _ _ * _ _ / _ _ * _ _ _ _ * _ _ where the _ indicates a number? It is usually followed by the VIN and 3 or 4 weights in kg. Cheers.
  7. I had one of the first J-spec TT's built and my Toyota dealer supplied the exact battery off the shelf. A TT doesn't need a huge diesel battery to crank, it's got low compression. A real Toyota one looks alot better than one that says "Halfords" on it!
  8. Somebody in this club should buy one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=noise%20meter&source=15&SD=Y - or maybe the club should get one!
  9. A couple of bits of advice for anybody going to the 'Ring. First of all, in Belgium they can confiscate your car for speeding... 180km/h and over (and you might not get it back!). Secondly AFAIK video cameras are banned at the 'Ring. Finally if you go quickly (and I'm not talking 'Ring taxi pace) your brakes will overheat. I had the problem with mine that the pads stood up to it (race spec pads etc.) but the rear discs cracked - in less than five laps and I wasn't pushing at all hard. Enjoy it guys - if it's your first time, it'll blow you away!
  10. Blitz Nür is the mut's nuts. You can run quiet (ish) with the baffle or LOUD (ish) without. IMHO it is the definitive Supra back box.
  11. Check out the static pic in my garage - the rims are brand new in that one. If you think they're expensive you don't want to know about Corvette magnesium rims!
  12. I've just bought a Pug 306 diesel - 80p a litre in France!
  13. Is it the lead you've got a problem with, or the plug that connects to the coilpack?
  14. Hmmm... not as bad as filling the fuel tank with diesel, but a close second!
  15. Hard on the brakes is quite a good way limit the damage if you know you've lost it. At this point ABS can be a bit of a pain though. I'm always astounded that people don't realise that not all tyres are the same. They are the only thing that your car has in contact with the road!
  16. I've got a Falcon "Hybrid" - half road, bike half mountain. Flat bars, 18 gears etc. mudguards so you don't get a line of dirt up your back, rear rack for carrying stuff - good value for money at well under £200 new.
  17. When I did this mod a few years back the Thor unit had a trimmer inside it which allowed you to calibrate the speedo. I imagine the design hasn't changed. If you've got a Road Angel or similar GPS speedo you can make your normal speedo accurate - they normally read faster thean reality. If you've mounted the unit in the footwell you'll need an assistant to help - my advice is locate it under the gear shift panel. You tweak the trimmer while holding a steady speed and match the two speeds. Good article - and it is very annoying when you put the dash back together and something no longer works!
  18. Are they really carbon fibre or are they fibre-galss? Whatever, IMO a waste of money and the don't improve the car's looks.
  19. How did I manage to post this in New Members? Could a Mod move it please?
  20. I saw this in Toyota Paris this week. It's sort of Prius meets Supra (with a bit of Celica type styling). Toyota claim 0-100km/h in 4 secs. What do you reckon?
  21. How about "My other car is a Bentley" for less than a cheap Focus!
  22. A passed avery shiny Orange Supe on the M2 by the Sittingbouirne exit this evening. TRD type wing and great paint. That was me in the Corvette! ps. The bottom edge of your rear bumper is flapping... in case you've never followed your own car and nobody else has told you.
  23. You really need 15 bar. I had one of those Senseo machines - a very quick cup of coffee but not close to a good espresso... and it died shortly after the guarantee expired!
