I'd still be up for this - if you guys will still have me along - currently Supra-less, making do with a Celica 190 Was mighty busy a couple of Wednesdays ago - only quietened down after 10pm. Think everyone is getting ready for the season...

Just switched from Elephant to Sky. About £100 cheaper (even after Elephant attempted to keep me with them!) and generally better terms and conditions, especially re: mods. Was also refreshing to talk to someone who seemed genuinely interested in cars. Top work Ollie! He didn't even make any hairdressy comments when he found out I now have a Celica 190 instead of my beloved old Supra... Anyway - definitely give Sky a phone if you're looking around.

Darn - my 323 Estoril (in tasty Aquarius Blue) collapsed in a heap at its last service in September and had to be scrapped - at the age of 125000 miles. I'd have bought your 50000 mile one in an instant (especially given you're just around the corner!). Always loved that shape of 323 - great looking cars IMHO and excellent daily drivers. Yours looks in excellent condition as well so should sell no problem. Mind you I'm now the proud owner of a 7th generation Celica 190 (I await hairdresser comments from you lot!). Hey at least it's the 190 bhp version and "lift" is so much fun Good luck with the sale.

I was in Aviemore this week and spotted this white Supe as well. Again in front of train station. Looked very nice and clean, and mostly stock from my quick examination

Folks... After writing off my Supe in July it looks like I'll be taking a break from Supra ownership - just bought a Celica 190 to see me through for a couple of years (needed something more economical and cheaper to insure). Don't worry though - I'll be back... Anyway - I have some left over bits which are free to a good home - postage charges only: Pioneer TS-E1076 front speakers (with custom built mounting brackets). Ideal first stage upgrade to the awful stock front speakers. See attached pics. Much clearer sound than the stock speakers, but don't be expecting big, meaty bass (I upgraded to custom speaker mounts and 17cm speakers in the end). I was there on Wednesday. £25 for 2 hours. Much fun! I think they do freestyle nights on Thursday/Friday. They had a few of the features out already on Wednesday which was excellent. I'm still rubbish at rails/boxes tho...

Super glad you're OK. And particularly glad you didn't suffer my fate - very similar spin in my NA last Thursday night which ended with me hitting a crash barrier at over 50mph. Fair to say my Supe won't be on the road again Lesson definitely learned regarding being careful, particularly in the wet. Hope you get all the damage sorted. Be thankful nobody was hurt and your Supe is still roadworthy!

Just got my alloys done today by a Chips Away guy in Laurieston/Falkirk. Very reasonable price (£130 for 3 wheels which I had kerbed). He did a stunning job on the two that were only slightly kerbed, basically as good as new. However the one which had quite a long section of kerbing is average - shape and colour are reasonably well matched but you can see it has been repaired/rebuilt when you look closely - lines/striations along the section that had to be rebuilt. It'll do for now (they look much better than they did before) but not convinced I'd recommend them for this kind of work. Mind you it was dead handy - dropped car off at 9am and it was ready to go by 3pm. Can put up pics if anyone is interested in getting same/similar done in the area.

I nearly always switch the OD off when driving fun roads - it kicks down to second much faster from third than it does from fourth, and just feels much sportier with the revs a little higher (particularly in an NA where the power doesn't really kick in till 5k). Actually I often switch OD off when I'm in a 30/40 zone as well coz it annoys me when it's constantly switching between third and fourth! Probably not the best for petrol usage tho...

Arg - just kerbed my other front wheel today - drivers side already had a little kerbing but now I've got a big section of kerbing on the other front Is it worth getting them refurbed (they're in pretty good shape apart from the kerbing)? Has anyone used Wicked Wheels in the Edinburgh area or am I better going to AutoImage and getting 'em sent away? Sandy-m2 are you happy with the job they did - £85 per wheel is a little more than I'd want to spend to get the kerbing out - particularly coz I know within days of getting them fixed I'm bound to kerb them again...

Don't! No really... I have absolutely no idea what the Toyota engineers were thinking at the time but they create noise, drag and buffeting. All of which decrease significantly when they are removed (or cable tied down like mine are). Total waste of space. Does anyone have anything good to say about 'em or what they are meant to achieve?

If I remember rightly the guys you got your Supra from, Mackay Trading, do servicing. No idea if they'd be a good choice or not (as far as I can tell their original service was OK) but they'd surely know their way around a TT? Also if it needs any parts I suspect they wouldn't have any problems, given they import them in the first place. I just use my local guys, Hunters in Linlithgow. Have so far been excellent with my NA, but I'd probably be a bit choosier with a TT. Still, highly recommended as a decent garage. Oh and good move keeping the motor!

Yep - I was the same. Amazing how prices drop though. You can get my full HD (1080P) Samsung M86/87 online for less than £750 now if you shop around...

Good choice. I did a _lot_ of research before plunging into HD and ended up with a 42 inch Samsung LCD (M86/87). For computer games/consoles I seriously think LCD is miles better than plasma - totally crisp, no burn in, very bright and colourful, works fantastically as a computer monitor, doesn't burn you a large electricity bill However for SD (freeview/DVD) my Sammy, while completely watchable, definitely isn't as good as the top end Sony/Panasonic LCDs (which are about twice the price I paid for mine!) or the mid-to-high end Panasonic plasmas. Just can't find a single setup that gives me warm, accurate colors and good shadow detail across all channels/sources. I'd definitely recommend a visit to AVForums to get a good starting point for the settings though. My picture quality improved massively over the shop settings (which were totally saturated, bright and artifically sharpened).

Don't do it! That was a beauty you picked up from Mackays last year. I almost bought it myself, but was won over by the convertible-ness of the NA Aerotop. Was real fun over summer but I'm kind of wondering if I'd have been better going for the TT, especially now it's winter so the top's staying on for a while Mind you, in these conditions I reckon I'd quickly write myself off in a TT! Are the running costs that high? I'm finding fuel is noticable (I get about 18 mpg) but insurance ain't too bad and MoT/service were the cheapest I've ever had (absolutely no problems at all - the only problem they could find was that the "horn makes a strange noise"!). All the best from a fellow Mackays customer (and like you I'd definitely recommend them).

I got elephant to match the cheapest quote I got, which was from admiral. Totally bonkers, they are the same company! I'll give Sky another go next year when I renew but they were so far off the mark last year I didn't even call 'em this time round. Just for the record, £380 fully comp, 3 years NCB, 33 years old. And would you believe, if I put my girlfriend (who only got a license in 2006) on the policy it gets £50 cheaper, yes cheaper! Insurance companies are nuts.

PSP Video 9 is decent. Also, just in case you already have it, don't forget Nero does an excellent job of creating PSP content from DVDs.

I just ordered a Samsung LE40M86BD for £750 (including delivery). Can't wait. Now just gotta decide what DVD player to get (current favourite is the Pioneer DV-400, shortly followed by the Samsung DVD-HD870 and Philips DVP5980 - anyone got any of these players? any recommendations?).

With the roof bolted on I don't feel any real twisting with mine. Flexes a lot more with the roof off, but it's so much fun in the summer

Good advice on this thread. I got my first NA last year, and while I loved it over summer (it's an Aerotop, nothing beats cruising around in a Supe with the roof off!) I have found it a little disappointing on the odd occassion I do try and keep up with a hot hatch. I keep up, but there's not much in it, and if it's been modded in any way it'll beat ya! It's especially sluggish from a standstill (however 30 to 70 is fantastically quick - 2nd gear all the way!). I'd be tempted to wait for a decent TT and be very calm with the right foot for a while...
