  1. Baring in mind, these are still LCDs, have they sorted out the smearing that these sets have on fast moving video? I watched a Sony X series a couple of years ago in the Sony shop, showing Sky sports HD, and it was terrible.
  2. I used to prefer them with the oem kit. But now I much prefer them 100% clean. The worst bit is the spats, they look totally, and very obviously, stuck on. Clean:
  3. At the moment, I think I am leaning towards a flash memory stick / sd card which can be left in the car. Do you have any experience using the Alpine with a USB stick?
  4. Matt and Animal, I would appreciate any comments you have on using the SD card http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=208706 Oh and mods etc, apologies for not noticing there was an ICE section before...!
  5. exactly. thats why I am gonna get someone in.
  6. Thanks all, but I think I am just gonna get a plumber in to fit the valves. Cheers.
  7. I don't think its within my capabilities to be honest. But we are thinking of have a new bathroom put in this year, so I might hold off and have a plumber put them in at that time. Its just whether I can take the chinese water torture! I hate dripping taps etc lol Thanks
  8. I have the manual and fortunately it looks like a very easy replacement. Thanks, its a event xs thermostatic. In the fault table at the back of the manual, it says a dripping head is caused by a faulty solenoid valve.
  9. Hiya, it's a Mira unfortunately. Though I've already ordered the part, was only 30 quid.
  10. I need to replace a part in our shower so I obviously want to stop the water getting to it while I am working on it. The problem is, neither hot or cold have working isolation valves. Actually, I think the cold might, but my main problem is with the hot. The hot pipe comes off the top of the hot water tank, right at the top of the cylinder and goes up throught the loft and down to the bathroom. I was thinking of just turning off the main water supply coming into the house and then turning on the taps and the shower to get the last bit of water from the pipes? Does this drain the whole cylinder? is that necessary? When I switch it back on, does the whole cylinder have to fill up before water comes out the top? Its a power shower which I believe should not have been installed with "up and over" hot pipe, but it wasn't my doing... TIA edit - just to say, its not the pump I am replacing, surprisingly, the shower has worked fine for 6 years but has now developed a drip which according to the manufacturers is a dodgy solenoid valve.
  11. I'm gonna come out and say I agree with you. Theres a fair number of people that fit eyelids to do a similar job, but they look much less tidy than a "badboy bonnet"
  12. Looks like an evolution or photochop of http://www.designercars.net/biler/Toyota-Supra-1.jpg
  13. I've had a bit of a look around the net and it looks like ipods are about the only mp3 players that can be controlled. Might have to go that route.
  14. Hiya, yeah I did suggest a USB stick, but she uses her current mp3 player a lot and she would prefer to just have to update the music on one device, rather than 2. Which headunit do you have? Does it support playlists?
  15. The missus is thinking of buying a new head unit and mp3 player which can be controlled via the head unit. I know that the iPod is very well supported for this, but is this the (only) way to go? Is the iPod controlling interface available on other players? Or are there other interfaces?
  16. Absolutely awesome. Its "only" 720p, but I'm literally amazed everytime I turn it on. Chris the actual projectors, don't have to cost that much (mine was £450 second hand). I have a dream of an entire wall covered in LCD that you can choose "42 inch tv in the middle please" - or now I want to watch a film "10 foot screen please". And, for example, you can have digital photographs on display, just have your current choice of wallpaper when you're not watching tv, whatever you can think of really. Not sure thats every going to be realistic... I love the idea though!
  17. Impressive photo analysing, and you are absolutely right! I just measured it, and its 84" / 7 foot Not sure where I got the other figures from...
  18. My lounge setup: Sky hd box, Panasonic 50" 1080p plasma, pc with XP Media Center Edition and 1080p output/playback, old sony amp and mission speakers. PS2 which is never used. Sanyo z5 projector in spare room/computer room. Hard to appreciate the scale, but this is showing a 84" (7 foot) image:
  19. Looks very nice. Is that your lounge? Do you not use a TV at all?
  20. "How can you kill something which has no life?"
  21. Hmm, I just downloaded the manual and there is a worrying quote on the hdmi page (51). "PC signals are out of correspondence." Googling for this brings up some other people with exactly the same issue as you. Have a look @ http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=hp&q=%22PC+signals+are+out+of+correspondence%22&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=%22PC+signals+are+out+of+correspondence%22&fp=3898def81deca7ef I would get a dvi to hdmi cable and try some different resolutions and refresh rates.
  22. Try to get just the tv working with the pc first. Buy a dvi to hdmi cable off of ebay for about £5 delivered. Read the tv manual and see what it says about connecting a pc. You can download the manual from the manufacturer website if you don't have it. It might not say anything, but its worth looking.
  23. This is one of my favourites (Batmax supra). I like the way the fascia has been altered to fit the specific items, but still looks as if it was stock.
  24. If I was to buy another, it would be a Harmony One. That is unless things have changed greatly in the last year, since I was last researching. Probably worth having a read of: http://www.avforums.com/forums/remote-controls/
