I have them both. 5 speed is smooth comparing to 6 speed, which is really "clunky". Gears are shorter on 6 speed, but generally you would have to work VERY hard to kill Getrag box. Car is similiar quick on both gearboxes, 6 speed just needs gear changing more often

Don't use standard tape, it will leave sticking marks all around! Don't quote me on this, but i think that UK and Ireland are only European countries which still seperate road tax from fuel taxation. All continental Europe using "tax in fuel" scheme, which is obviously more fair. -

Closest to yours will be 85381-14010-J0 which is 8L5 colour, Blue. Difference between colours is coded in last 2 numbers.

From what i understand about offset, it have nothing to do at all with UK brakes clearance. It is just how far will rim stick out. I belive that clearance is rather connected to spokes shape. -
I managed to put front one in car with both front seats up. With folded passenger one, I cannot see this being a problem

Normally Nick (Import Pimp) should be your best shot, if you can wait some time. Installing clutch and flywheel + gasket change on gearbox costed me around 200 pounds - it was perfect work of famous Mr. Wilson Clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinder got to around 420 pounds?
