If you use your PC for internet and films - stay with XP - no need to upgarde to VISTA which will only eat more of your machine resources like CPU, memory etc. On your computer case there should be somewhere nice greenish sticker with information about your system "Windows XP Home" or Proffesional - and serial number for your Windows version. You can use this serial number even if you will get copy of Windows XP Home (or Proffesional) from anyone. You are not paying for CD with software, you are paying for licence to use it (which is prooved by Serial Key) So in simple words: check case for sticker, find out what XP you using (Home or proffesional - I bet on Home), write down serial number, get copy of XP from friend (ask him to burn one for you) and wooalaa - you can go through "joy" of installing anf configuring WinXP
