How many types of fuel have you tried with it? Jap gas is usually high octane only, so the ECu might be mapped for that. Have you had a drive through Europe and tried different types and octanes? Does it "delimit" the cruise control as well? Why are you selling?

Thats the same conclusion I got to.... bugger... A possible solution *COULD* be to wire in a SLD at the very top of the "chain", on the pink wire from the ODO. This does also mess with the other systems like the active spoiler and the speed dependant power steering. However, I actually had one installed there for years and only found the active spoiler to be the difference. At least I didn't notice any other differences. It could be installed so it was working by a switch, so it can be turned on when driving across europe or so.. It's not the best solution though..

Well, it's such a simple device unless you need further features like, I think Thrust, provides. I have bought mine from a tech guy in DK making them himself for 20£ or so. Do a search here and you should find several possibilities mentioned.
-
yep. You will also notice a 112 km/t limiter on the cruise control. You also need a SLD for that. So one placed by the ECU and one by the cruise ecu. I'm having trouble with the last one, as I think the cruise ecu is placed so it is almost impossible to get to :-(

I would also say they are at least as safe as a bike. And the segway keeps the balance for you as opposed to the bike. You just have to NOT drive head into a curb (like George Bush did - and fell)

Suspension knock/"spoing" sound. Diagnose from these pics?
bodilx6 replied to bodilx6's topic in Supra Chat
Sweet! You just send me a mail and I can get the guy to send you some cash. I would rather do that so all is OK for pickup when I get there. Oh, one thing; what should he expect after a lowering with your springs in combo with the bilsteins from the basic OEM suspension he is running now? -
Suspension knock/"spoing" sound. Diagnose from these pics?

Thanks Chris, thats kind of what I was guessing to hear. I don't see anything wrong anywhere, but its reassuring that you don't see it either. I'll soon get the chance to have Toyota DK's tech troubleshooting guru to take a ride with me. He might have an idea. Else its going to be new whishbones from Toyota I think. Is there anything else that would be a good idea to replace in the same round? Btw, anything on the springs I mailed you about for the OEM Toyota/Bilstein dampers? I will be near your place around the 12th or 13th of September I think. /Stefan -
Sweet! Do you have a link? I'm driving through the south and wales in the middle of september and loooove the Segways. Done it in Paris and Boston. They were illigal in DK for a loong time as well (I actually tried to start up the first Segway business in DK, but stopped due to the politics) as they were classified as a scooter and a scooted needed hydralic brakes... Doh! But a year or two back they made an exception for the Segway on a trial basis.

I'm having a strange "spoinnng"-ish sound from my left rear wheel arch. Originally I heard it years ago, but ONLY in the wet (?!). Then I had a CW suspension fitted by the man himself and it sort of dissappeard for a year or two. Now its back with a vengeance. Always there when I hit bumps on a camber or when I move off from a stop at normal speed. I don't hear it over 40-ish mph but that could be road noise cancelling it out. Not sure. Doesn't sound like a "thump" but more as metal contacting metal, lightly, or some metal "releasing tension". I've tried - by hand - to pull/push the suspension arms with the wheel off, but I dont see any apparent movement in the bushes except I can "slide" the arm a mm or so along its axis. I wonder it is a bushing issue (if so, I'm contemplating replacing all arms but that is WAY expensive) or if i need to re-torque something (if so, what?). Here are pics of most suspension joints/bushes. http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_01.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_02.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_03.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_04.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_05.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_06.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_07.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_08.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_09.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_10.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_11.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_12.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_13.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_14.jpg http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/public/suspension/SUSP_15.jpg Any input appreciated. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to diagnose this, so any ideas about that are welcome as well. Thanks

I'm after adding a SLD to that, but if that is the cruise ecu, I'm sh*t out of luck unless someone has a really good idea of how to get the that plug or to get to the speed wire (pink one I think) where it "braches" out from the ODO signal.

Does anyone have a wirering diagram or how-to on how to fit something like this?
-
It's not by battery either. It's been working at the same speed the 6 years I've had the car, so it might just be originally designed like that? I'll try to see if a bit of sillicone might work. If so, new mechanisms is the way forward. It's annoying to wait 5-6 sec per window when you park (or 8-10 sec or so if I do it at the same time)

Any easy way to make to windows move up/down quicker? As most older cars they are getting a bit slow. Is it a new motor that is needed or does anyone have a nice tip to make them move quicker?

Bilstein and Chris Wilson suspension fitted... what a difference!
bodilx6 replied to benedwards64's topic in Supra Chat
Well, it doesn't. I could stab the rubber with a screw driver and it seemed nice and soft under the inch thick layer of rust proofing. Coudn't move the wishbone. Only if I used the screwdriver as a lever it could move it a bit side to side. So, guessing thats not it. I think I'll try to throw it up on an lift with weight on the wheels and see if I can move anything around... Thanks -
Thanks, Nic. Didn't remember that being part of the Repair Manual (which I've got)

Judging from the wheels and emblem on the back, I'm saying Alfa Romeo. I know they are doing the C4 and have heard rumors of that platform being used for something else.. Looks sweet!

Bilstein and Chris Wilson suspension fitted... what a difference!
bodilx6 replied to benedwards64's topic in Supra Chat
Thanks Chris. Should I just jack it up and shake the wishbone a bit to see if it moves around the inner bearings? -
Nicely spotted!

Does it smoke when you start it up? Blue smoke at startup defo VSS. If it is only when dapping it could be turbo seals as Swampy says, but then it should also smoke on boost while driving, but that can be hard to see. Get someone to drive behind you and check for blue smoke (not black, thats just fueling)

aah, a fellow Tapatalk'er.. Sweet ;-) Thanks, I'll have a look. Do you know if the speed wire is a pink one, just as by the ECU?

Bilstein and Chris Wilson suspension fitted... what a difference!
bodilx6 replied to benedwards64's topic in Supra Chat
I'll just post up my 2 cents here as well. I drove the car to Chris 2½ years ago from Denmark to get his suspension fitted and havent regretted it for at second. It rides beautifully and the only times I've felt "short commings" have been when the car was pushed on the Nürbrugring. On other "lesser" tracks, I've had no worries at all. On the Ring I lack a bit more sharpness and firmness but that is EASILY traded in for the perfect on road handling, which is where it spends 99,9% of its time. Just read above that retorquing the subframe can help on strange noises. I have a strange "pong" sound like a metallic release of tension in my rear, left wheel well. It's been there for years, originally only in the wet (?!) and dissapeard after Chris fitted the suspension. Now its there constantly and seem to be most prone to make the sound on camber changes or weight shifts as opposed to just bump/droop movements. I've got NO clue how to trouble shoot on this as I cannot force the sound when stationary. So, would it be good the retorque the subframe or should I look elsewhere? Sorry for a bit of thread hijacking ;-) -
If its smoking while idleing its turbo seal. If you see the blue puff when dapping the accelerator its Valve Stem Seals. Turbo seals = Turbo rebuild, VSV = time consuming engine work. Lots of info on both here on forum
