Not saying its this but worth a look, mine had a similar rattle and on inspection found it to be the exhaust supprt bracket to the gear box has snapped causing a tinny rattling at certain revs -

What sort of life expectancy would a half decent n/a clutch (5 speed man) have when mated to a TT after conversion?
